| Brandon called his mom a couple days ago. The news about Sara absolutely pissed me off.
The police are not taking her case very seriously. In fact they are urging her to drop the charges saying it must have been consensual, that she was irresponsible. They wouldn't allow her mother in with her during a 4-hour forensics exam to hold her hand, when they stripped her naked and poked and prodded her. Since she didn't tell her mom about it until 3 days after the party, they're saying that they doubt anything happened since they didn't get much from the examination. Apparently the guy who raped her was 27. She was drunk, and they were starting to fool around and when she started to realize what was going on, she kept telling him to stop. In Arizona, they can do confrontational calls where the police are recording and only one person on the line has to know that they're doing that. The police coached her in what to say and they have him, on tape, saying he knew she was underage. Even with this, they're still trying to get Sara to back down. What is it with authorities when it comes to rape? We went through this when there were rapes back at LBCC. The cops told the girls not to report the crimes and to just be quiet about it.  |

| Just got the e-mail saying I'm a candidate for graduation. Had to put in for my grad check last semester. I'd been told it takes a long ass time for them to sort it out, but apparently the analysis of my standing has been done and OK'd.
While cleaning my room earlier I found an old copy of the L.A. Times which will help with a friend's research project. I posted on her Facebook wall about it and she's very excited. And our room finally has a floor! Hosanna! With the excess furniture removed and what's still in here rearranged, there's SO MUCH space. Now to organize the walk-in closet and get to the sorting of clothes. Mom's birthday is Sunday. She's looking to be adventurous when it comes to where she wants to eat dinner. | Went and saw "Scott Pilgrim" again, and brought some people who hadn't seen it before -- namely Stitch and my boyfriend.
It's interesting seeing it again, after reading and re-reading the books again. I mean, I still prefer the ending to the books, but the movie has its own special details and jokes. It'll be a massive shame if studios take its poor box office reception as a sign that niche comic book movies are not worth being made. |

I've kind of reached the point that I can't stand around a bunch of underage kids throwing their drinks around and writhing around claiming it's moshing (these are avoidable by going to the 21+ only shows that some bands offer). Or going to concerts where I have to be around adults who want to blather on about how much of a bigger fan they are than you. I notice the best concerts I've been to lately were smaller-venue shows where everyone was just interested in listening to good music and having a good time not hurting each other or sounding like an asshole. The person below me looks back on their exes and inwardly shudders. |

| Honestly I'm not sure, but they were probably along the lines of that something didn't look so bad. I spent a good chunk of the weekend with my grandmother trying to reassure her of things when she's paranoid.
That and last night club hopping with friends in the OC, girls in the bathroom kept asking if they looked good or whatever and I just said yeah so they'd leave. Do you have a lot of junk you can't get rid of for sentimental reasons? |

| It's my mom's birthday and there was a mini-comic convention near L.A. today. Great stuff on both accounts.
My mom's 64 this year, and we're celebrating 3 years since her last lumpectomy (her third). So far nothing has popped up and she continues to be a cancer survivor. Since my dad's diabetic and hates eating anything he doesn't recognize with spices or sauces that cause him to question what they'll do to his blood sugar or blood pressure for that matter, Mom and I (and probably the boyfriend) will do the more exotic food next weekend. This weekend's been pretty interesting. Nothing big really happened, but it was nice. Went to Hooters for Stitch's cousin's birthday. I pretty much drank a whole pitcher of sangria. It mostly just made everything funny for 10 minutes. Later that day, went to another friend's party that turned into club hopping around the OC. Too many girls in skimpy clothing trying to impress guys while shitty music is playing and the bouncers blind you with their flashlights as they try to intimidate everyone to move closer to the bar/dancefloor that smells like someone ate bad chicken and shit their brains out in the middle of. Sigh... Well off to finish reading this book before I have to interview the author and his colleague on Wednesday. |

I don't know much about the New World Order other than there are people who've moved their whole families up to Idaho to wait out this Armageddon, and they've voiced that should the UN come looking for them, they will open fire. |
