I'm currently watching "The 5th Element." It's been a few years since the last time I saw it. I miss movies like this.
It sort of feels like "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy." (Last edited by Rogue on 09-26-10 02:22 PM) |

Why Dr. Tran, of course. He's off to eat hickory smoked horse buttholes... from a cup.
Would you rather live in paradise, but you have to work every day of your life OR live in a cave with no light in a wasteland but you don't have to work ever? |

Thanks, guys. While it's comforting that I'm not alone, it's very unfortunate that this disease is affecting so many.

When we were all trying to sit down together for dinner, my grandmother was doing something in her room. My mom kept trying to get her to come to the table and eventually told me to bring her over. After I kept telling her things like food was getting cold and she could do what she was doing later, she suddenly said, "I'm tired of this. I just want to die," in a very serious tone. When she got to the dinner table and sat next to my mom, it was like she never said anything. I took her to the doctor today. He refilled her prescriptions and prescribed more meds. She has pills for dementia, and now some for arthritis. She was really, REALLY upset when he said there was no way she can get better and not need a cane any more. In fact, she might need to start using a walker soon. My dad requested the doctor test and her and write up a letter saying she's of sound mind and able to sign legal documents. The doctor started testing her by asking things like who's the president, what's the date, and so on. I kinda laughed when she said the president is "Ebona." That wasn't meant to sound as it did. She just always has trouble with names. She couldn't remember the exact date, but she did know it's August and when the doc asked what year it was she said, "2-1-1-0." I think she's just confused. The doctor recommended a neurologist (who's conveniently also a lawyer), fasting blood tests, x-rays, and a physical since they don't have those up to date.

Oh god, just fuck it.

My boyfriend's sister went to a party a couple weeks ago and was raped. She lives the next state over, in Arizona, and we only just found out through their mom. She's 17 years old. While I've often found myself annoyed with Sara, I've come to think of her as my own younger sister over the years. She used to live in California. I met her when my boyfriend and I got together over 6 years ago. She was 10 or 11 at the time. She drew a picture for me because she was happy her brother found someone. When she turned 14 she was sent to live with relatives in Washington and then came back to the California only to off-and-on live in Arizona. Even though she's grown out of being the innocent, anime-obsessed (still is, actually) tween I met, and she drinks and smokes pot and doesn't go to school, the news of what happened to her was really upsetting. At the same time, her and my boyfriend's second cousins were added to their phone plan because Sara and Brandon's mom is somewhat charitable when it comes to them. They were only supposed to text people since that's unlimited and so they wouldn't run over the minutes. But, of course, put together the two of them alone exceeded the minutes which has now racked up to being a $700 phone bill. And now Brandon can't call or text people with his phone and can only receive them. So the family's going through all sorts of stress. EDIT: The second cousins that were added to the phone plan -- one of them is the genius who got knocked up with her underage boyfriend, swore off breast-feeding because she feels that only her boyfriend should be sucking on her chest, neither of them can find a job and they're living with his mom while she takes care of the kid and smokes like a chimney (pot and cigarettes). ![]() (Last edited by Rogue on 08-27-10 03:44 PM)

Watching the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie while cleaning my room and Brandon jams with a friend in the garage.

"Wise man say forgiveness is divine, but never pay full price for late pizza." This shit is timeless. Yeah, it takes place in the '80s, but the puppetry is awesome.

Whoa, I have no idea which one that mistake was in. |
![]() I used to watch 3 all the time, but now I can't find the tape for it. Yeah, it was pretty crappy, but I could watch it over and over and never get tired of it. (Last edited by Rogue on 08-28-10 02:57 PM)

I may not be a lawyer, but I am a journalist. I have taken several photojournalism classes on top of being heavily schooled in media law.
|
The rule of thumb: anything that you can see from the street is LEGAL to photograph/video tape. That includes minors, people having sex, what have you. If you can see it while you're just walking along the sidewalk, it's FAIR GAME to shoot and publish on your blog, in your newspaper, what have you, because those are media designed to inform. You do, however, need their consent if you are going to use the footage for something like an advertisement, etc, intending it for commercial use. I mean, you're constantly going to have people throw a fit about recording/photographing them (celebrities, people going into courthouses for a trial, etc). If it's happening in public, you have every right to capture it on camera. With that said, the guy on the bike had every right to get in front of the videographer and block his shot, so long as he wasn't touching him or his camera. Then you have a case of battery on your hands. (Last edited by Rogue on 08-28-10 02:24 PM)

At 4 years old, I doubt he's had much exposure to condoms.

I haven't been up on "The Boys" lately, but I think it's 44 issues with 6 trade paperbacks collecting them so far.
|
I'm reading "Entertaining Satan: Witchcraft and the Culture of Early New England" by John Demos, "The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay" by Michael Chabon, "Understanding Comics" by Scott McCloud, and this other book written by this guy that I'm interviewing next month for the paper. I'm also going through Max Ernst's "Une Semaine de Bonté" right now. It's described as a "surrealistic novel in collage." There aren't any words, but since it's displayed as sequential images, it's been labeled a graphic novel. |
