So I'm super excited at the moment. I sent an e-mail to the Yahoo! group for this author, and not an hour later was calling me while I was walking up to the restaurant where we were meeting my parents for dinner. He'd love to do the interview and everything.
I'm stoked, really. I kept jumping up and down excitedly. Funny thing was I happened to have been holding his book at the time. |

I don't know why but this reminds me of a Korean Pizza Hut commercial.

Paid $3 for an empty box that was supposed to have an Obama commemorative plate in it. We were at a gas station in Bakersfield headed up for San Francisco. By the time I'd opened the box (and mind you this was around 3 in the morning) we were already about 20 miles away.
I figured there was no use going back to right it since we were trying to get to our hotel before dawn, get some sleep and head out before 10 for an event. What's the greatest bargain you've made this year? |

The latest episode of "Mad Men." We have to download it since we don't have cable.
I'll probably watch the last episode of "Hell's Kitchen" next. |

LAPD.
Doesn't shock me. They've started openly practicing entrapment in Beverly Hills. I guess what I feel is disappointment in the way things are going. We have MANY great officers watching over us and protecting the city. But then we've got this. On top of the complaints about police brutality. I just don't know what to say about it all. |

SOURCE Now being the sort of person who wants chicken McNuggets at odd hours, I can sort of understand the disappointment. But seriously? |

I almost got into an argument with a girl at Comic-Con over this actually. We were standing in line for the Scott Pilgrim experience. The night before that they had actually screened the film somewhere down the street in the Gaslamp Quarter.
The deal was if you got a pin at the panel saying "1-Up" you got to go for free. The girl who was ahead of us in line turned to us while my boyfriend and I were talking about the panel to say in a very smug voice that she got to see the screening, even though she didn't have a 1-Up button because she was cool like that and that she was going to try and get into one of the two other screenings they were holding at Comic-Con. Pretty much she was bragging about planning on taking away the experience for someone else to see it, since the thing will more than likely be filled to capacity and there will be a line 1000 long out the door of people disappointed that they didn't get in. When she finally turned around, I made the comment (to my boyfriend) about there being an overflow of preview screenings with way too much given away in the trailers, to the point that it seems like the producers don't want to make money on the movie. She then turned around and started to berate me for not knowing anything and that I couldn't possibly understand how much they showed until I saw it. ![]() This somehow paled when the line moved and when we finally got into the upstairs portion of the line (almost to the end), they made an announcement about Bryan Lee O'Malley doing a signing in a few minutes at the stage. I ooh'd and remarked to my boyfriend how cool I thought that was. This woman on the other side of us went, "Psssh, whatever. I don't know who that is in the movie." I turned to her and said, "Oh, he's the guy who wrote the books." She rolls her eyes and goes, "Whatever. I'm just here for a free T-shirt." Comic-Con was full of a lot of really rude people this year. EDIT: This amused me, though. Since the first part of the Scott Pilgrim experience was getting to silk screen your own T-shirt with a Sex Bob-omb logo or what have you, the girl who was ahead of us was stuck waiting for an extra hour because Kieran Culkin, Brandon Routh, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead were taking up the station that had the design she wanted (I only realized this because my boyfriend wanted the same design). While they were delayed off to the side, I took his con badge and had it signed by Brandon Routh for him along with my badge. ![]() Oh, and this site is streaming the Scott Pilgrim soundtrack for free: http://www.spinner.com/new-releases#/1 (Last edited by Rogue on 08-11-10 08:08 PM) |

It's not so much that the second season was bad, it's just that's when the writers strike fell and thus it was cut short with several plot holes opened up.
The third season, however, was difficult to watch at times. Now, I maintained being a huge fan of the show. I marched with the show's writers and actors when they picketed during the writers strike, and tuned in every freaking night it was on. Fourth season was definitely better than the third. |

Honestly, second season introduced some characters I wanted to see more of but was so cruelly denied -- those being Micah's family in New Orleans, specifically Monica. Unfortunately, season three never returned to them.
HRG maintained being my favorite character throughout the series. Hiro was among those favorites, but he fell out off the top midway through the third season. |

Movie-wise or comic-wise? Either way, Green Arrow and Black Canary. They haven't appeared in movies yet, as far as I know, and their appearances in comics, while sometimes edgy could use the Moore/Ennis touch.
Where do you do when you have to think about something very difficult? |

I watch it every year and it's always rather awe-inspiring.
I've sat and watched it at the beach a couple nights this week already. The thing that sucks about where we live is how hard it is to find really dark places since there's so many cities grouped together, not to mention the street lights and everything. And even if you find a cool place off the side of the road, cops show up and tell you can't park somewhere. We've had a few really good, dark years, but even when there was partial light pollution, we still got a good viewing out of it. ![]() |

Here's some of my relationships. Some of the really short ones are tough to really capture since they were relatively forgettable or insignificant. Sorry, guys who got left out.
Nelson: "Title of the Song" - Da Vinci's Notebook. He and I were together for nearly 4 years (broke up with him a month before the anniversary), ranging from when I was in 8th grade and almost to a few months before I graduated. The relationship was held together by cliches, really. Boy bands and pop starlets were all the rage throughout this relationship, and he used to give me CDs filled with songs about love and so. Everything we ever said to each other was a "naive expression of love" or what have you. After the break up, and several weeks of him calling me crying over it, he flew out to California to try and convince me to come back. Steve: "Permission" - Joseph Arthur. Granted the song is about raping someone, but this one month-long relationship was hell. I was 18. He was 30. He also had no friends, but he had boatloads of mommy issues. He was very controlling, verbally abusive, and would claim that I was flirting or smiling at random guys even if I just stared at the floor. He slapped me once, mostly hitting my neck. I stared him down and he left. For some reason I retained the relationship as long as I did because I felt, in some part of my soul, like he needed someone. Even after we were broken up and he kept calling, wanting to spend time with me alone in his apartment, and I refused he got very angry and call me all sorts of names. I chose the song for the fact that Steve seemed to insist that I put things through him before I could go do them. I think it ended up breaking his heart when I told him I went I saw "Matrix: Revolutions" with friends before I saw it with him, as he'd insisted. Brandon: The "Duck Tales" theme song. Omit everything about ducks and you've got what it's like being in this relationship. Brandon and I are the types to drop everything and fight robots, kiss sharks, drive off to god-knows-where to kick a zombie in the nuts, or whatever. We've been together six years and it's still all fun and games. (Last edited by Rogue on 08-12-10 05:37 PM) |

We used to go out to this one rest area, but it's gotten crowded and every now and then the cops showed up with their spotlights on to make sure people weren't doing anything. They were rather nice saying they understood why everyone was out and weren't going to ticket anyone.
We tried this one bay for the Orionids, and it seemed to work well, although there were some streetlights. We're going to see about parking in the mountainy areas. |

Well, in a sense, both of you are correct.
Earth started passing through the peak last night and will continue through tomorrow. You can watch the meteor shower all week if you really wanted to. But yes, tonight would have the most meteors in the least amount of time. |

Watchmen, since it's one book. If it were a matter of choosing series... THAT would be far more difficult.
You've got a big project due in 3 weeks. You need to write a 12-page research paper, create a poster and Power Point presentation, and give a 20-minute presentation without looking at flashcards. What would be your typical method of getting this all done? |
