| I am so freaking tired and burnt out.
I need to make up a midterm for one class, write an 8 page paper for another, on top of another analysis paper for another class. Perhaps the most taxing and obnoxious of all is the fact that I also have to design a two-page spread for the paper and we don't have the stories or pictures for it. It's a pretty big deal on top of it all. Wrote a few stories this week, including Anaheim Comic Con coverage. Yesterday I guested on The Harbinger, a comic book-centric show on the university's radio station. Pretty cool. I had entrance music. |

| When it rains, it fucking pours.
My grandmother, who can't be left alone any more, has been living at my house because my aunt, who has been watching her at her house, has been in the hospital for kidney failure. 
I interviewed Nadya Suleman (Octomom)'s publicist today. She said Nadya's had several plastic surgery procedures since the octuplets were born. EDIT: Also, my mom's best friend has cancer. They found two tumors in her liver, and one is close to an artery making it damn near inoperable. They aren't sure if they can remove that one or not. This woman also lives in Australia, so it's really difficult for my mom to comfort her, especially since this woman doesn't want to talk on the phone until next month. 
It's getting really tragic when you start reaching this age where most of the adults you grew up knowing are either sick, dying, dead, or really getting up there in their years. (Last edited by Rogue on 04-28-10 12:17 PM) |

| Jesus... Fuck you, cancer. Fuck you so hard you won't get out of bed in the morning. You'll just lay there and want to talk and cuddle and then whoever you were in bed with will say, "I'm sorry, baby, you're just too clingy for me and I just got out of a serious relationship, so I'm not looking for a commitment right now," and you'll cry and tear your hair, and have to go to therapy for 20 years because you have abandonment issues and you're worried your biological clock is ticking away and then you just kill yourself because nobody likes you and you think life is pointless.
Anyway... ahem... Things have been pretty busy lately. Covered a few things like the Holocaust revisionist/denier who was coming to campus. I also picked up a second major: American studies. I'm looking to finally graduate one year from now. Good stuff. Just got back from faire. Went to Bogfest last night with a pirate party beforehand. | No, but my mom has occasional bouts with it, her best friend is fighting it now too, and Stitch had just posted about the possibility of his mom having it.
I know that I'm going to have to deal with it in my future. Breast cancer runs on both sides of my family. |

| Hmmm, it's been a few months since this was posted in...
A few new things I've done/learned, I guess: - Met/interviewed members of the Westboro Baptist Church, a Holocaust denier, Octomom's former publicist, people storming the streets of Los Angeles in protest of public education's cuts, a teacher who's dying and just about the climb Everest, various celebrities at comic conventions and such, "CSI: Miami" cast and crew who were filming at our school, Native American dancers at a powwow, and so many others. - Got stitches. - Guested on a radio show, talking about comics, conventions and "Kick-Ass" - Ate a Double Down sandwich - Spoke at USC. - Visited Brandon's dad at his new house in Bakersfield - Crashed a - Stayed at Lee's new apartment in Fremont - Visited Wyatt Earp's grave and the Museum of PEZ - Became a double major - Got Indian food in Little India for the first time - Took someone new on one of my comic shop crawls Went to/covered: - Anaheim Comic Con (just started) - Long Beach Comic Expo (also just started) - Arizona's Renaissance faire - Dickens Festival - Lebowski Fest (which I've gone to but never covered) - SoCal Renaissance faire a couple times (had a great sit down interview with Shelby and Todd) |

| All right, I've got a new gripe. It's been brewing for a few days.
Fuck feeling like I'm not getting any respect. I give my all and it's never enough. Fuck depression on top of it all. A woman killed herself at school today by jumping off one of the parking garages. She was 52, menopausal, depressed, and it wasn't her first suicide attempt. I interviewed a witness who seemed very close to crying. |

| Brandon was telling me that there are several supervisors who pride themselves on being over-dressed because they feel they are supposed to be reflections of the government and this is an official thing, yadda yadda yadda.
When he and the rest of them were getting fingerprinted it happened to be Casual Friday so he showed up in a T-shirt and jeans while a few of them (both men and women) came in three-pieces suits. They started making snide comments to each other about the way he was dressed saying things like, "It's a shame some people aren't taking this as seriously as they should be." Oh well... FUCK not being able to find the one book I need for my take-home final. All the stores don't carry it. All libraries in the area either don't carry it or it's checked out. The campus books store and the nearby textbook store are out of copies. Motherfucker. EDIT: FOUND ONE!! | I'm feeling productive today.
Next week is finals, and I just acquired a book I need for a paper. I also just got a copy of a DVD I need to watch for a final in another class. There's a lot of shit that needs sorting out for this coming week, three papers, one sit-down test, and I also have to edit a video and put together a portfolio. So much to do... later. Finally put in for a refund for my Comic-Con ticket, and pretty much spent the afternoon calling liquor stores in Arizona to see if they had bottles of certain ales (it's against the law in California to sell alcohol over a certain percentage. No such law in the AZ). Got my Maker Faire tickets and heading up to the Bay Area next weekend. It'll pretty much be a trip to the faire and then we're heading home. The past week has been pretty hectic. A woman committed suicide by jumping from the top of one of the parking structures on campus. People are getting pretty crude in the comments. Some of the editors and webmaster have been removing the obscenely offensive ones. The morning she did it, while getting taken to school, the highway was clogged because of a motorcycle accident. Since it had just happened and the paramedics and police hadn't arrived yet, you could see his body laying strewn in the lane, unmoving, while some people who'd stopped tried to shake him. | So who's seen it? Whadja think?
Personally, I thought the first one was better, but it definitely wasn't bad. Whiplash seemed way too easy to beat, and Black Widow needed more scenes (and her accent). After watching Kick-Ass, where Hit-Girl took out mobs of men on her own, and watching Black Widow do the same (WITHOUT a suit or anything like that, I mean, even if she didn't have the little gadgets that she did, she would still have kicked a whole lotta butt), chicks are finally making a comeback as heroes on their own. Warms my heart and makes me think of the '90s again. Anyway, not bad. Makes me look forward to the Avengers movies coming out. |

| There's a scene where you see Pepper and Natalie/Natasha walking up some steps from behind. I turned to Brandon and went, "Now who were you looking at?" He smirked and said, "Scarlett."
I'll second that it seemed like this movie was mostly one-liners. I think the whole peeing-in-the-suit thing was a real low point. I must say, using Roger Sterling for Howard Stark was GENIUS. Very Walt Disneyish, though, but I still loved it. Another thing about the movie: WAY TOO MUCH usage of the holographic schematic images this time around. It was a novelty in the first one and made people itch to have it, but Tony's Apple technology (taking over the TV during the hearing, using Jarvis, etc) got tiresome to watch after a while. |

| Oh god, you're so right about the strawberries.
It was freaking hysterical when Black Widow and Happy break into the place and Happy spent 10 minutes trying to knock out the first guy. There were a few things that were amusing in terms of their comic references (using Cap's shield to adjust the piping). I was one of those people who got all excited during the scene after the credits. I wonder when they're going to start alluding to Ant Man and Wasp. |

| What's fucked up is the fact that just a few hours before his death people were reporting that he died, which was cast off as a hoax. And when he actually passed away, everyone thought it was just another hoax.
