I got to know Gordon Lee when I first moved into Rome, Ga after my deployment. He became one of my friends quickly. One of the strongest points about him was his opinions which made him an honest sort of guy. He kept a shop that made many happy memories and was a huge haven for many MANY nerds in Rome. He always poked fun at my husband and I. Then when Eric would dish it back, he wouldn't be offended instead he would laugh. He was one of the first friends I made in Rome. I first met him when I went on R and R during my deployment. When I came back we went to karaoke at 333 and guess who was there. Gordon. He was everywhere, I thought. Of course he was everywhere in Rome. He ran his own karaoke, trivia, and even owned a shop.

I got to know him a little more when I would go to the Y off and on and talk to him before Zumba class. He would be running on a treadmill right in front of the walkway nearest to the basketball courts. The sad part was it was about one or two weeks before he went to the hospital for his stroke. I found out about the news Saturday. I couldn't believe it. I still couldn't believe it. I cried. I cried off and on all night. I went to the hospital that night HOPING... PLEADING he would be okay. Of course I was wrong. I didn't know what to do when I got there. I didn't know what to say. All I could was listen. I couldn't accept it. Then I got the message that he was gone.... For good.

All I can do now is hold all of the happy and funny memories dear and close to me. I know you are probably relaxed now.

It was sudden. Very sudden. I didn't hear about it til Saturday which really hit me hard.

if it wasn't for him... I wouldn't be in the circle of friends I'm in now.

I'm unable to go to the memorial today because I am a bit self conscious about bringing in D'arcy. I didn't have anyone to watch her and she's been having a bad day today so the extreme crying during a eulogy will not cut it for me. So I've decided that Eric and I will get a flower from the store and place it in front of his first shop he was in when we first met him.

Well, he was cremated and his ashes are going to be spread to each store he rented. So he'll be all over Rome... once again.

I'm sorry to hear that. I've gone having a friend go to the hospital and then losing them. It's not an easy thing and it sucks. It really does.

My thoughts and prayers are with you. I hope for the best with you.

I've met women who wanted to be infantry. The most they could do was go into engineering corps or go airborne. To be quite honest. What ever floats your boat.

Personally, I don't like the idea of me in a combat position because of the following reasons:

1. Men can't focus. Most will be more about saving the girl then focusing on the fire fight.

2. Policies in basic training when I went stated that during a 7 day field training exercise after day 3 the women had to go back to the barracks and take a shower. Why? Because we grow things. So being on the front lines = no showers = eeeeeeeeeeeew

3. Rape. 'nuff said.

So there you have it.

I don't really have an opinion on the lift of the ban. I loved SNL's way of talking about it. Have you seen the investigation channels on TV? Women are heartless killers everywhere! XD

But really. The ban has nothing to do with any changes to my job considering that being a soldier first makes me infantry by proxy. The ban has nothing to really do with any changes to UCMJ that affect me (DADT lift now makes it okay for me to perform a BJ on my hubby or have sex in different sexual positoins if I wanted to). Only thing the ban will do is take the "Is it gay? or is it Infantry" motto and turn it into "Is it EO(Equal opportunity) or is it Infantry."

....

....

....

Damn it... now I'm totally against it. Homo eroticism is going away!!! No! This is an outrage!

So I left out for Annistan, AL to qualify. I usually suck at weapons. Seriously I suck at shooting... might be why they put me on the m249 you really don't have to worry about much just carry a ton. So here's my zero sheet.

Just so you guys know this is a simulated 300 meter target from only 25 meters away. Anyway this took me 15 rounds to zero. Last time it took me 30. And many months before that it took me 180 to zero.

We went to pop up targets I got 20. I needed 23 to qual however I did a lot better than last time. Got 11 on the last go around. Anyway they sent me to the alternate range which was a paper target range and I got 26.... Just enough to qual.

To Cyro and the rest of the military folk here... No one upping allowed. This is a big deal for me. A HUGE improvement.

So I wake up around 10 am and go outside for my morning smoke. I then blink and walk a little closer to exiting my car port. I quieted down and heard sirens. Tornado sirens. Lovely, I thought and walked inside to download a scanner for my radio. Mainly to listen to the police and fire dept.

I started feeding D'arcy and listened to the scanner. Turns out that about 15 minutes from my home clouds were rotating. I then picked my child up and hung out in the bath tub streaming live coverage of the super cell storm going on in my area. I spent 45 minutes in the bath tub with my daughter.

-.- gotta love weather and its fuck ups.

The tornado hit Adairsville. Which is 40 minutes away from us.

I've been through a tornado before while riding in the car with my mother. That was crazy. O.o So it's not fun at all. It didn't hit our house or anything so that's cool and all. Kind of inspired me to chase after storms myself for a while there.

So I know the warning signs of when a tornado hits.

And yeah I got a police scanner on my phone. It works too. Later on last night the power went out due to a windy storm that blew by. So we listened to it and found out that a limb had fallen over down the road from us to cause the outage.

>.> I think I'm going to wind up with slower internet speeds because of this thing.

Earlier this week, the Copyright Alert System (CAS)—better known as "six strikes"—finally debuted. Both Verizon and Comcast activated the service on Wednesday.

The new system is funded by a group known as the Center for Copyright Information (CCI), which is made up of five major American ISPs, the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA), and the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). It's been in the works for years and may provide a significant change to the copyright infringement policing regime in the United States.

At the end of a series of six alerts, accused infringing customers could have their home Internet connection significantly slowed down. Those accused of infringing can file an appeal for $35. (Here's the CCI's new video explaining the process, as well as its new promo video.)

Both Verizon and Comcast updated their terms of service as of Wednesday, and each informed customers of their participation in six strikes on their websites. (But more than likely, most customers don’t spend much time checking out the corporate homepages of their ISPs.) Ars has reached out to all five of the participating ISPs—AT&T, Verizon, Cablevision, Time Warner Cable, and Comcast. Only the latter responded and agreed to provide copies of actual alerts. (Full disclosure: I am a Comcast customer.)

Charlie Douglas, a Comcast spokesperson, also told Ars that the company already sent out a “small number” of alerts despite this being the first day of Comcast's compliance. Douglas declined to disclose the actual number or the reason that number was being kept secret.

When Ars asked him to confirm that six strikes would not be able to see a potential violation if the user was using a VPN, he responded: “I think you’re right.”

Douglas did provide the language for alerts numbered one, two, four, and five. He has not yet responded concerning why Comcast is unable to provide the actual language for all six alerts or why he chose these particular ones to share with Ars. Comcast has also not shared any technical details of how it serves up an in-browser pop-up alert.

Well I called up AT&T to see if they really did send out any changes in their plan because the consumer is supposed to know if anything in their Terms and Agreement is changed. Turns out that they had no clue what the fuck the 6 Strike System was. O_o
