| Seriously, Elara. I know EXACTLY what you're talking about. Brandon and I go to Cabrillo Aquarium and tidepooling on Sundays every few weeks (we park on the hill and walk in), and we see cars doing what you described all the time.
What's more we see a lot of almost-accidents from people driving in circles or going the wrong way around that statue on the island in the road. Anyway, fuck sources going out of town when you have to do a story about them. And fuck feeling guilty about having to write to your friend, who was the assigning editor, because you feel like you're letting him down not getting the story to him when you promised. Fuck sitting at my computer waiting for his response to come in the e-mail. I feel like shit. |

| Besides isn't it a conservative ideal to cut needless spending?
If you're already in the military why do you need more money for re-enlisting? I'm sure there are people who need it, but there are a ton of benefits you're already entitled to. Even About.com says the Army offers so many "it's hard to keep track of all of them." 
$20,000-$40,000 for re-enlisting? Jeez. |

| That's actually really hard for me to answer, because there are several periods I find so utterly fascinating. In the past whenever I was asked, "What historical era do you wish you lived in?" I always answered "1930s Berlin."
And it's still true, but I would also add the "Old" American West (around 1870-1890), Feudal Japan, and of course, the European Renaissance. There's a few more that I can't remember at the moment.
These days I've also discovered I'm absurdly intrigued by the 1970s. It's sort of hard to explain why, but sometimes I really wish I lived back then at the age I am now. And it has absolutely nothing to do with That '70s Show, which was never one of my favorite shows. Going off how you are now, could you stand living among the Amish? Remember that's absolutely no use of electricity, no new technology, no intimacy before marriage, sex only for the procreation of children, making everything you need, simple puritanical clothing, etc. |

| Earlier this week when I had to contact this professor about a profile story on him, he didn't e-mail me for a couple days, and then when he finally did it was a link to his Twitter account.
I clicked, and it pretty much read, "Off to New Orleans. Toodles!" I checked it again as I am writing this. It now reads, "In New Orleans: As we go from analog to digital, are we losing the capacity to think in metaphor and symbolism with such clean 0s and 1s?" So yeah, I felt bad for my assigning editor that day. I made it up to him the next day, though, helping with the special edition. But seriously? Using Twitter to blow off an interview? It's not quite a text message breakup, but what the hell? |

Pretty much, of the 6 people involved, only the drunk driver and one of the Angels player's passengers survived. The drunk driver, right after the accident, got out of the car trying to make a break for it, leaving his own passenger to die. So yeah... my fuck you.... FUCK DRUNK DRIVERS. Especially hit-and-run ones with two prior convictions for being drunk and stupid. |

| Well, life has been nothing if not interesting these past few days.
I just got home from driving through two counties to check in on, take care of, and eventually pick up my boyfriend's brother from the hospital. He had been dirtbiking and broke his arm. His friends bailed on him because they were paranoid that someone might want to search their car (and would discover all sorts of pot, meth, etc inside). I just think his friends are selfish douches, is all. Around 3 p.m., earlier in the day, Brandon and I had been hiking and rock climbing. We were tired and were about to have lunch when we got the call from his dad to pick up Joey who was in a hospital 85 miles from where we were. Anyway, they didn't discharge Joey until 11:30 p.m. After finally getting back in the area, we spent another hour or so driving around looking for an open pharmacy to fill his pain meds prescription. Last night was spent hanging around circus freaks and hot cosplayer girls, eating green flan, watching puppet shows, and making out in the Porta Party. The night before, going past midnight, was working on a special edition of the Daily Titan concerning the accident involving a rookie pitcher for the Angels, a drunk driver, and a couple CSUF students. And now as I'm checking my grades following an exam in one of my comm classes, it appears I set the curve. I really thought I fucked up on it. Well, it's 3 a.m. here. | Oh god, so as I mentioned in the Xeogaming Office thread about having to drive 80-something miles to take care of and pick up Joey (Brandon's brother).
Yeah, fuck his friends who ditched him in a hospital freakin' more than half of the way to San Diego. More so, fuck his friends from the night before. Joey was practically bragging to us about how his friends stole all this meat and alcohol from a market, drank A LOT of it, and then went driving drunk out of their minds. They got stopped by some cops, were about to be arrested (and thankfully didn't discover the alcohol they had in their seats, ALONG with having meth stashed in the car), but were saved when the radio suddenly had an all-units emergency that let them off the hook. Fate saved his ass, and what does he do? Tests it further, breaks his arm, and now he's calling up for a ride to a friends house so he "can medicate." I love Joseph like a little brother, but good grief.
I reiterate my "FUCK DRUNK DRIVERS" comment. |

| Hmmm... that's tricky, especially with how many comics, graphic novels, etc, I read. So... hmmm. I assume you mean like classic media (paintings, sculptures, etc).
I guess I'll go with Frida Kahlo. There's an autographed print of a picture someone did of her getting raped by a skeleton hanging on the wall over my computer. I adore her. She was so vibrant, despite her pain, anguish, and constant line of personal tragedies. As for comic artists, that's REALLY hard. There's so many greats out there, especially right now.
