| I saw the season premiere.
Massive spoilers under the cuts: Regarding Nathan, Peter, and Matt: Spoiler:
FuturePeter teleports himself into the past and shoots Nathan before he "comes out" as a person with special abilities. FuturePeter then disguises himself as PresentDayPeter, stashes the gun which Matt finds (and Peter teleports him to the middle of nowhere), and confronts Angela who apparently has the power to see the future. Nathan in the meantime, is transported to a hospital, worked on, and is presumed dead. Peter, while standing over a very pale Nathan with his chest cut open, is shocked when Nathan suddenly sits up and looks around. A few scenes later Nathan walks out of the hospital and into a chapel where some women are praying. He says something to them in Spanish about seeing God and then starts preaching that God spoke to him. Later Nathan's back in his hospital bed, Linderman walks in and Nathan believes Linderman healed him. Regarding Hiro and Ando: Spoiler:
Hiro is now the president (or at least something of a CEO) in his late father's company. He's VERY bored. While Ando comes to speak with him, the Nakamura family lawyer pays Hiro a visit and delivers a DVD message from Kaito who reveals to Hiro that there's something in his private safe that he REALLY needs Hiro to protect with his life. Hiro of course opens the safe. It's apparently half of a formula. It's immediately stolen by the new speedster character. Later Hiro tries to figure out what trouble he just caused and decides to take a glimpse at the future. Upon his arrival in the undisclosed amount of years/months/days, Hiro sees himself and FutureAndo arguing (though he can't hear what they're saying). Suddenly FutureAndo raises his hands at FutureHiro like he's imitating Ryu doing the hadouken, and shoots red bolts of electricity at FutureHiro. Hiro returns to the present and Ando and can't tell him what he saw. Regarding Mohinder and Maya: Spoiler:
Mohinder tells Maya he's given up on trying to find a cure for her. Upset, her eyes go black, and Mohinder talks her down from killing him. Somehow Mohinder realizes that the power isn't in the blood per se as it is in adrenaline, driven by fight or flight (the adrenaline pumps into the blood to help you either defend yourself or run the fuck out of a situation). Mohinder takes a sampling of adrenaline from Maya and tells her that this may help people out there who don't have powers finally gain them. Maya demands he destroy it as it's a curse and can't figure out why he'd want to cultivate it. Depending on the person and how the adrenaline bonds with a person's cells it creates a different power. Later Mohinder is standing over the ocean with the syringe of Maya's adrenaline and contemplates throwing it in. Nope. Mohinder injects himself with the adrenaline and is suddenly attacked by a couple thugs, whom Mohinder is easily kicking the crap out of with super-strength, agility, and speed. Regarding Claire and Sylar: Spoiler: Claire sees Nathan shot on TV and calls up Peter to tell him they can use her blood to save him. Peter says she should stay where she is and it doesn't get much further than that. Claire opens the door to leave and finds Sylar there. He chases her around the house, she hides, later stabs him with a kitchen knife, and he eventually catches her and cuts her head open. While he's got her laid out on a table, he's poking and prodding her brain, eventually touching his finger to what we presume was her pituitary gland saying he'd found it. Worried she looks up at him and asks, "Are you going to eat it?" Sylar looks puzzled and says, "Eat your brain? Claire, that's disgusting." After going through her brain, his stab wound heals and he heads for the door. He then sees her scalp on the floor, picks it up, places it back on her head and the skin and bone melds back together with the rest of her. She sits up and asks why he isn't going to kill her. Sylar again looks puzzled and tells her she's special and can't die, but then again now he can't either. |

| McG pretty much said the show is its own entity and left it at that. So no, the show will go ignored as well.
He also explained that SkyNet doesn't exist yet and it's "still in research and development" (which goes along with the fact that they're ignoring the end of T3 where SkyNet blows a lot of the world to shit with missiles). So yeah, we see a young Kyle Reese, Mrs. John Connor, and a whole new group of human freedom fighters. |

| Now as someone who loved second season despite what a lot of people have said, I'm quite astonished by the possibilities of this upcoming season. I like a lot of the new turns this is all taking.
It does seem a little on the weird side, as I'm sure the nay-sayers will point out, but it does seem like it runs circles around last season. Since you didn't read the spoilers I will say that they reveal how Sylar gains others' powers and it's a little on the anti-climactic side. |

| Helena's eyes fluttered open. She'd been dreaming again. Sullenly, she dangled her legs over the side of her bunk and rubbed her eyes as she tried to grasp the final wisps of the sweet reverie.
She was running through Priam and Hecuba's Trojan palace, laughing joyously as Paris chased her gentle gazelle-like leaps and strides. A devil-may-care grin was slapped across his face as he dodged courtiers and nobles here and there, darting after his prize and imagining the warmth and sweetness he'd well-receive once he carried her to his bedchamber. Helen sped up a little. Got to make the poor boy work for it this time. Every moment with Paris left an untarnished mark in her life that she would always look back on with such wanting. As Helen of Sparta, bound to Menalaous, a man more than twice her age whose concentration on war and perfection of armies left their marriage bed cold every night, she'd been listless and bored. A trophy wife for all the world to look upon, but for none to enjoy as a true companion. Then Paris entered the picture with that apple. That mischievous golden apple from Aphrodite that turned everything topsy turvy. Now she was Helen of Troy. Soft, fair, terribly in love, and blushing nightly with such an attentive and generous lover who'd worship her like a goddess and take her as a nymph. Paris was upon her now. Arms extended, he snatched her by her waist and clutched her in a cradling embrace. Helen rewarded him with furious yet soft butterfly kisses on his neck, paying close attention to the area around his ear where she knew it sent ecstatic jolts up and down his spine. They were so happy. The love goddess and her cherub son smiled upon their union and protected them as best they could until... "Greeks!! My lord, Greeks are approaching!!" A general outcry as nobles, servants, merchants, and even, Hector, Troy's celebrated crown prince, crowded the palace's balconies to see over the wall. The horizon of the wine-dark Aegean was dotted with Greek sails. Hundreds of them. Aboard were such notorious heroes (some even her own former suitors) as Achilles, Ajax, the clever Odysseus, Protesilaus, Diomedes, Antilochus, Agapenor, and her own husband joined by his warring brother, Agamemnon. They'd all come to collect her. The sky cracked as the gods chose their sides. The blood drained from her face as she, like Apollo's spurned lover Cassandra, saw a future of destruction. Troy would fall. Paris would be slaughtered. And she would find herself in the twenty-first century as little more than a common street walker whom men traded anything for to get maybe an hour of her time. Helena shuddered on thinking of the nightmare that started out so wonderful. She rubbed her eyes again, removing what granules the sandman left on the inner corners. Maybe it would finally be over in a few years. It wasn't fair to be stuck on earth for as long as she had, only able to feel human warmth if she wanted to cause unspeakable anguish. Oh well. Maybe once she got out of here, she'd talk her way onto a ship to some tropical island to live out this last life and never be heard from again. |

The man also calls her "Tracy." I guess the host body survived the fire. I'd read rumors months ago saying that Niki was dead, BUT Jessica survived. I guess this is it. |

| Honestly I love most kinds of music, but I dislike a lot of that bubble gum pop and hard rap. For the most part, stuff you'd find on the popular music stations on the radio.
I guess I'm more drawn to rock in most of its forms (Celtic punk, ska, and metal, especially), folk/bluegrass/country music (Poxy Boggards, Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs, etc), and most international kinda of music. I totally dig mariachi music and anything like it. Have you ever done something in your sleep and didn't know it until someone told you? |

| "What makes a villain?" one might ask themselves.
Most answer, "They're evil. What more do you want?" But it goes so much deeper than that. Take your typical hero--through all their faults, they're basically good people. Or at least they try to be. The ideal hero, super or otherwise, is striving to achieve peace, order, and overall do it without needing to kill anyone. It seems no matter what they try to do what's right and save as many people as possible. Now with villains, all bets are off. Not to be cliche, but look at Hitler. Do you think he believed he was evil? Probably not. Chances are he thought he was improving the world with the atrocities he did. Villains often believe they too are doing the right thing. Perhaps in their quest for world domination, they feel they can save a rotting world. Does the name Light Yagami ring any bells? Basically these people are trying to accomplish an ideal goal, but through some very wrong means. These characters are often known as anti-villains. What's more, there are some villains out there who do what they do to save someone else. Ever heard of Jean Valjean? Went to jail for stealing a loaf of bread to feed his family? Flint Marco/Sandman became a thief to help his dying daughter. Mr. Freeze steals to build up funding to save his terminally-ill wife, Nora, whom he keeps in suspended animation 'til he can find a cure to save her. Anakin Skywalker became a sith because he felt he was saving Padme from death. Going down the list again, we get the misunderstood and unfortunate souls who became evil due to circumstances. X-Men's Rogue was originally a villainess under the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants because she didn't fit in with the heroes, and what's more she was Mystique's adopted daughter. This and the category above it are not necessarily villains by choice, but an uninvolved observer would see them as such. Then you've got your standard rogues' gallery of murders, thieves, tricksters, the insane, and the power-hungry. They're probably well aware that what they're doing is wrong and they're probably just doing it for fun. It's all a game to them and when they face off with heroes, they are usually not concerned as your typical hero tries not to kill and what's more the justice system usually dumps them back on the street in a matter of weeks. That or they're adept at breaking out. So when you take into consideration what your "evil-doer" is up to, the question remains: do they choose to be the way that they are and are they aware of what they're causing? Villains are often the most complex characters in an entire storyline as there are so many reasons why they travel the road not taken. If you need some reading on the topic, I thoroughly recommend Watchmen (written by Alan Moore and illustrated by Dave Gibbons). Granted it's mostly a rag-tag group of anti-heroes, but you HAVE TO read it some time. |

| Yeah, I don't follow the Spider-man 'verse as closely as most of the other Marvels (X-Men in particular). Doesn't surprise me about the character changes for the movie. It happens way too often in comic book movies (Barbra Gordon was Alfred's niece? Double-you tee eff, mate?)
The message is still there, though. A lot of villains have their reasons. They didn't just wake up one morning and decide, "Dude. I think I'm going to be evil from now on." Well... it's possible that's happened a few times before in comics. There's plenty of villains out there who turned to crime because they were bored. I also forgot to mention people like Magneto. Magneto falls in with Hitler in that he not only wants mutant liberation, he fuckin' wants his kind to be the dominant species. Why? Because he's been a victim all his life because of various reasons and he's sick of other people's bullshit. He was born special, he feels he's of the more evolved race, and he wants what he thinks in coming to Homo Superior everywhere. |

| Helena had been let out of her stone prison and allowed some time int the sun and fresh air. She took a turn about the yard, grazing her fingertips over the chain-link fence, feeling its textures ranging from smooth and cool to the touch to course and rusted and warm from the past rains and sun exposure.
Eventually she found a shady spot, leaned against the fence and eased herself to the ground with her back constantly pressed to the boundary between freedom and this human zoo. Her head ached a little and her hands shook. She crossed her legs, rested her hands, palm up, in her lap and concentrated on a spot on the ground. She cleared her mind, deepened her breath and proceeded to meditate. Her bright, golden eyes misted over as she focused on the present moment--took in the slight breeze, listened to the leaves on the trees rustle and the occasional footsteps of other in-mates and guards. She closed her eyes and felt at peace. Moments into her zazen, Helena's skin began to tingle ever so slightly. Her last dosage of Noxadrain was starting to wear off. | So BET's going to be putting out a Black Panther cartoon. While I'm interested and Black Panther is a positive role-model for the black community, the animation looks really weird.
It looks like they took the artwork out of the comic and made it move. It's just... odd.

Helena threw her head back against the fence and looked up with a rejuvenated air of confidence as her system began to flush out the substance. She smirked and stared at the clouds as they floated above her.

"'Scuse me?" Helena turned her attention to the thick and muscular male specimen standing before her. His hair nothing more than stubble and a startling, jagged scar running over his left eye and down his cheek, he peered down at Helena with fierce hunger, sneering. "Lookin' for some fun, sugah?" She stared back at him, unintimidated. Her eyes rested squarely on his. His expression shifted as he became transfixed on her shimmering irises. They radiated with an uncanny luster. Suddenly his heart swelled and he found difficulty breathing. "My lady!" he declared, dropping to one knee in front of her. Looking around suddenly, he spied two dandelions growing along the chain-link fence. He jumped for them, tearing them out by the root, clumps of dirt still clinging to the unearthed weeds. He turned and presented them to Helena who took them without word. "A small token of my love for you, oh sweetness. They compare not to your ethereal beauty. I pray that you'll pardon my initial rudeness. I am called Vincent, or Vinny for short. I once was known as The Black Arsenal. I've murdered families, raped their wives and daughters, robbed banks, and nearly blown up the city a few times. For you, I give it all up and renounce my evil ways." Helena gazed upon him unmoved. "Oh, my precious, bid me do anything. I would cross oceans, climb mountains, and conquer worlds for your smile. I would die for you right now if that it would bring a shred of happiness into your heart." Before she could stop Vincent, he'd taken her right hand, cupping it in his and kissing it deeply. Instantly Vincent was bathed in a feeling of complete euphoria, his mind swam, and his heart raced. Helena shoved his head back with her free hand, and kicked his chest to unlatch him from her. He fell back gasping for air like a man rescued from drowning, eyes wide and unblinking. "Oh you silly man," she said to him. "Gone and done a stupid thing like that." She picked herself up and walked away, Vincent's dandelions on the ground beside his twitching body. (restricted) |

It's 9 a.m.

I've been awake for the last hour and a half because some city workers across the street from my house are throwing a bunch of branches in a mulcher, which is making all sorts of racket when it jams. I'm still quite worn out from Comic-Con as sad as that sounds. Seriously at Comic-Con, I was waking up at 4:30 in the morning to make sure that I could take the train down to the convention center and line up by 6 for Hall H, which had the Heroes panel and the Watchmen panel. I shit you not, whenever I got there at 6, there were already hundreds of people in line. There were especially people who camped out all night to get in. I dunno. I mean, I was up and there early, but to wait 12 hours for a single panel and look like a hobo doing it? Erm.. (Last edited by Rogue on 08-01-08 01:25 PM)

Fear and angst stripped away as the Noxadrain dwindled in her system, Helena looked about the yard bored.

Being detained by the doctor and left to sleep in her cell much longer than was normally allowed made her miss a couple of regular doses. Though she wasn't near her full-potency and with her powers learning how to overcome the amount of Noxadrain it was exposed to, like bacteria immunizing itself to the slightest bit of penicillin, she realized why she was so vapid and defeated in this place--it was this crap these doctors had been giving her to stifle her from being herself. In some it merely nulled abilities, perhaps with a side effect here or there. In Helena it had made her convinced she was a victim of a cruel world and one who needed to become more human by having her gift taken away. Yes, the drugs were quick indeed, trying to rebuild her psyche to match what they felt she should be. With Vincent still down behind her, it was no shock when guards flocked to her, cattle prongs out and ready but avoiding eye contact. Helena grinned a little to herself, closed her eyes and raised her hands above her head. Her personal guards, sporting gloves and goggles, immediately blind-folded her bound her wrists behind her and guided her inside. (Last edited by Rogue on 08-02-08 02:38 AM) | ||||||||||
