No, certainly not, but I meant they're allike in that Jessica and Lucy, both being the aggressive personality, also have the power or are at least much more aware of it and know how to use it from the beginning. Both are killing machines that rip people apart whether it's necessary or not.
Nyu and Niki are the passive personalities that come out more when in the presence of Khota and Micah. Nyu is also somewhat unaware of Lucy as Niki was with Jessica, while the latter personalities are very aware of the other. So yeah. I don't know why I thought of that yesterday, but like you said there are many other multiple-personalitied characters out there. This just stuck me as funny. |

All right, so after going to a panel for the movie at Wizard World last week, the director said that the events in the movie lead up to Journey to the West. He said there are some aspects of Monkey's story he wishes he could have included, as well as other legendary characters, but he didn't want to take away too much from all of the people already in the leading roles.
Supposedly there may be a sequel which will explore more Chinese legends. Collin Chou's hilarious in real life, by the way. |

So we're finally getting spring break here in southern California. I know a lot of people have already had theirs. If so, wha'dja do?
I'm pretty much going to be babysitting my god-daughter Monday through Wednesday and then heading to Arizona with Brandon Thursday through Sunday. We're going to try and hike a bit, explore the northern part of the state and maybe see the Grand Canyon. Brandon's never seen it. I think I was 6 the last time I was there. Also I want to check out that new glass-bottom observation deck they've got. So what's everyone else doing with their spring break? (Last edited by Rogue on 03-22-08 10:13 PM) |

After being up last night up until 5 a.m. before finally getting home to bed (Brandon's band had a show out in the Inland Empire), I suddenly realized that I'm not getting to sleep in at all during my spring break.
Baby-sitting for Jayne usually starts around 9 a.m. and whenever Brandon and I spend time in Arizona we're usually up by 7 or 8. I don't mind the latter as it's usually so we can get an early start on getting somewhere. Oh well. No rest for the wicked. At least I don't have class to worry about. Sorry to hear about the paper, Elara. ![]() |

Well I'm about episode 13 deep in the Death Note anime series. I saw both live action movies pertaining to it about a year ago and I'm definitely seeing the differences, especially when it comes to Misa. She seems much more sadistic and evil in the anime.
I'm rather interested in the third Death Note-related movie that was released in Japan recently, L: Change the World. I'm not hearing many positive reviews for it, but I did really like the kid who plays L in the movies. I heard from a few sources they were going to release it in the U.S. sometime this month, but I'm afraid there's no such luck. Oh well, I suppose there's always waiting for it to hit the net as a fansub. P.S. Shuyin you going to Anime Expo this year? (Last edited by Rogue on 03-24-08 07:05 AM) |

The movies leave out Near and Mello. Since I haven't seen the anime all the through, I've also heard the movie's ending was changed to accommodate that and other parts that were cut for time.
They did seem to try and match the anime when it came to what they kept in and didn't change. Some of the scenes with a comparison to the anime: If you're wondering why the person who made the video selected "California" for the song, it's because that's what was used in the trailers. I don't know why, and I'm not complaining, but yeah. ![]() |

Trey Parker and Matt Stone just put up the new South Park Studios site which allows people to stream South Park episodes without needing to hit up YouTube or AllSP.
Check it out: http://www.southparkstudios.com/clips/164619/ |

I think it was out of 1600 when I took them. I guess they changed over the years. ![]() |

Heh, I wish they had the writing section when I took 'em. Then I wouldn't have just an 1100 or whatever it was I got. It was in that area. Just math and reading sucked.
I only took the SAT once and sort of half-assed it since I was bored. Those are excellent scores, Cairoi. ![]() |

I'm up to episode 28 now. And yeah, after reading a few people's comments in regards to the movie it seems the first film covers the first 10 episodes or so, and the sequel, The Last Name covers up to episode 25 and ends it there. Hence why you won't see Mello or Near.
Then again they could be in the third movie that came out recently pertaining specifically to L. I'm getting really annoyed with my situation right now. I can't watch the show during the day as the house I babysit at doesn't have a computer with Internet access and I don't get to watch many episodes at home at the end of the day. Gah!! MUST. WATCH. AHHHHHHH!!! (Last edited by Rogue on 03-26-08 10:50 AM) |

Heh, I remember that episode. Didn't Lister implant his memories of this one girlfriend into Rimmer or something?
Anyway, yeah, BBC was the only one with videos I could find and they were completely un-embedable. ![]() |

Just finished the first volume of Robert Kirkman's Battle Pope. Prior to that I finished reading Identity Crisis a few days ago as well as the first volume of Usagi Yojimbo.
I tried Persepolis, but it just got too dry. Got halfway through it after casually reading it here and there and just ended up returning it to the library today without any concern for finishing it EVER. Anyway, I need more comics to sink some teeth into. I recently acquired the 300 graphic novel and Phoenix: Endsong. We'll see what comes of that. Also have two more volumes of Battle Pope to finish. Need to find the fourth one online somewhere. EDIT: Just finished those two volumes. Since I'm going on vacation tomorrow, maybe I'll lug the volumes of Sin City I've got at home and finally plow through those. (Last edited by Rogue on 03-27-08 03:39 AM) |

OK, so for the first time in 3 or 4 years I'm seeking out what series I can to burn through in a few days and move on to the next one.
As I've mentioned in a couple threads I just tore through Elfen Lied and Death Note. Any other series out there on par with those I should look into? It's mostly for research material for the next Anime Expo. For the past few years that I've been going, I often feel lost as I don't download and YouTube has actually become a saviour for the dweebs like myself who are only browsing with an okay connection. Time was I had to go down to my local comic shop and rent each DVD for $2 a day. Thankfully TV Links saves me from that. This thread is also open for other people to request series, but for now I was just wondering what else is out there. For now I dig the adult stuff (big surprise. I'm just not into the cutesy, little girl anime out there). Any suggestions? (Last edited by Rogue on 03-27-08 01:20 PM) |

Since Comic-Con is on the horizon, I've been frantically reading what comics I can to be prepared for this year's talk and panels. But I also haven't hit up a comic shop for the latest issues, arcs, series, etc in quite some time.
I'm hearing a lot of good buzz surrounding Marvel's Secret Invasion. Haven't seen anything on it, though. Marvel's last big must-read, Civil War, was sort of disappointing. I dunno, it just didn't send me, I guess. Anyway, if anyone's looking for a list of the apparent imperatives to check out in order to get half of the things Wizard raves about these days, here's the basics so you might get a little caught up (some of these are decades old): - Alex Ross (Kingdom Come, etc) - Alan Moore (Watchmen, V for Vendetta) - Civil War (And all of the Marvel heroes featured: Ironman, Cap, Thor, X-Men, etc) - Identity Crisis (Same with DC as Marvel) - Marc Silvestri (Witchblade, Wolverine) - Frank Miller (Sin City, 300, Batman, etc) - Robert Kirkman (Invincible, Battle Pope, Walking Dead, etc) - Neil Gaiman (Sandman, Death, Neverwhere, etc) - David Clowes (Ghost World, Art School Confidential) - Brian Azarello (100 Bullets, etc) - Stan Sakai (Usagi Yojimbo) - Art Spiegelman (Maus) - Garth Ennis (Preacher, etc) - Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale (Spiderman: Blue, Daredevil: Yellow, and the upcoming Captain America: White) - Runaways And above all... - Stan "The Man" Lee Not saying that he's the greatest, but he did create a massive amount of the epic heroes of Marvel before-Marvel-was-Marvel. Anyway, anyone got anything they'd like to add? I'm interested in reading many more and letting that list grow much more. (Last edited by Rogue on 03-27-08 06:31 PM) |

Heh, yeah Joss has also been putting out the new Serenity and Buffy comics lately. He's also got things like Fray, Runaways, and the occasional X-Men comic going.
I also forgot basic ones to know like: - Jim Lee (X-Men, etc. Gave many X-Women their more-widely recognized look) - Jack Kirby (Golden Age artist from the days of Timely, and worked side-by-side with Stan for years) - Mike Mignola (Hellboy, etc) When I think of more that I've forgotten, I'll post them. |

What sort of Heroes spoilers we talking?
The show's latest spoilers aren't even serious any more, it seems. When I asked Jeph Loeb about the "Villains" preview that he and Tim Kring revealed at this sci-fi film festival in December was only just to have something to show people. I think I posted a chunk of it in the Heroes thread. Anyway, if you're talking about the $30 graphic novel collection that was published recently, it can be read here: http://www.nbc.com/Heroes/novels/ I don't think I've been very helpful on this front, but I'll see what I can dig up. |
