I have problems running CPS 1 and CPS2 and Neo Geo games on MAME, choppiness ruins them, but on Kawaks they run as smooth as silk.
*goes back to playing 19XX on Kawaks.* |

I'll be adding one new game (or two but both discs come in one case) for my PSX collection, Strider 2 which also contains a bonus Strider 1 disc.
I do plan in the future to add the two Gradius Gameboy titles, as well as Ghouls N' Ghosts for Genesis. |

My Strider pack was $15.50 3 hours before auction end, a sniper tried to snipe bid me, and the price jumped to 32 bucks, of course my max bid was 13 hundred bucks so he/she couldn't win.

Fatal Fury/ Garou also appeared on the Sega Genesis as well, the voices are scratchy as hell, and the game plays very slow. But it was my first exposure to the series wayyy back then, but after playing the arcade titles sometimes it's a little hard to go back and play the Genesis renditions.

Garou is another name given to the Fatal Fury series, I've always seen it used in relation with FF.
Plus the / means that I put them together. The Japanese name for the series is Garou. http://www.mameworld.net/maws/romset/fatfury1 http://www.mameworld.net/maws/romset/fatfury2 http://www.mameworld.net/maws/romset/fatfury3 http://www.mameworld.net/maws/romset/fatfursp Also the Real Bout series goes by the name Garou. I live one state over in Louisiana ( southcentral part) and from what I believe we won't get off so easy either, if it hits Galveston or western Louisiana we're basically screwed as well. It's a Cat 5 right now with 175 MPH winds, but is expected to weaken just a tad (like it'll make a difference anyway) right before landfall. We're 3 years removed from a strong Cat 2 (came right up our alley, the eye of Lilli missed us by under 20 miles), and with New Orleans evacuees here, I'd hate to see those same people moved yet again.
All I can say is cross your fingers and hope it goes back and visits Fidel Castro instead. |

Depends on the era of gaming, early it was Atari, then I moved on to NES, and Super NES for the 8 and 16 bit eras, I made the 32 bit leap to PSX and have stayed with Sony since.
Nintendo did one major thing, they saved the videogame industry after the Great Videogame Crash of the mid 80's. I'm also partial to NEC, makers of the Turbograpx 16 and the PC Engine/Duo, they were the first CD based home console, without them, would Sega have tried the CD format for Sega/Mega CD? |

Looks like Sega did the publishing for the U.S., but 29 classic Taito games on one disc was too great to pass up, and only 20 bucks to boot. I know the original list was supposed to be 40 games, and several cool titles were removed from the Japanese Taito Memories list (ours is a partial combo of Taito Memories Volume 1 and 2), but with Rainbow Islands and Bubble Bobble on the disc I'm pretty pleased (miffed somewhat by Bubble Symphonies removal). There's a site about this game, have a look.

When you get my age, you start appreciating the past. As I get older I find myself not caring nearly as much for 3-D games as much as games I grew up on, this is an opportunity for younger gamers to see what older gamers grew up on. I give Res Evil 4 a nice score because it's not the same old Resident Evil of the past, but you'll see in about 10 to 15 years where your gaming loyalties lie, either by that time you quit gaming, or you start going back to play the classics. I've seen younger people down the old games because they aren't 'pretty' like todays games, but back then one didn't play for endings, mainly score and progress. Plus these older games tend to be fun to boot, and pricewise I'd rather spend 20 bucks on 29 games I know I'll play a lot, than say 50 bucks on a game I'll beat and retire (got plenty of retired games).
It's all about the gaming addiction really. Some games don't age, they simply get better with age. But if you're not into old school games, pass on it, but I tell you if your into these timeless classics, pick the game up, it's a bargain. And Evo Puzzle Bobble was indeed in a Neo Geo cab, but Bubble Bobble wasn't it's not a puzzle game, but I tell you if you play it you'll get addicted for sure, Bubble Bobble is the predecessor to Puzzle Bobble (good eye spotting the similarities though). There is also another great compilation out there, Capcom Classics Collection, 22 'old' games from the 80's and early 90's. All 3 GnG titles are on that compilation and there's plenty of unlockables. And hooray for Taito Legends 2 which should be out in 2006, buying old games let's companies know that it's ok to re-issue older games, people will play them. I'll be all over that one and Capcom Classics Collection Volume 2 when they come out. |

Played all 3 titles, the first one tends to aggravate me, the second and third I do tend to like, but Turtles in Time tends to be my favorite, with all the enemies on screen at once (arcade version) and the awesome cartoon like sprites. Not too big on the recent GBA titles though, but I see the console version of TMNT 2 had TMNT The Arcade Game hidden on it, and from I hear Turtles in Time should be hidden on the next one (or is it TMNT TAG on Turtles 1 and TMNT TiTime on TMNT 2, I confuse myself there).

And so it looks as though we'll get what we want, a second volume (Taito Legends 2), with many games that were taken off of Volume 1, hope this is in DVD format this time and not blue bottomed CD format. 40 more titles (Volume 1 was supposed to be 40 too, hope this time it rings true) to have fun with.

They are all arcade titles as the first game was, and yes since I MAME a ton of arcade titles, I've actually heard of all these games. Bonze Adventure I love playing to death along with Kiki Kaikai and Fairyland Story. KK is based on the SNES games (though much older than the SNES games) Pocky and Rocky, BA is about a buddhist monk on a mission to defeat an underworld god gone bad (lots of humor), and FLS is 101 levels of puzzle solving similar but older than Bubble Bobble, you turn your enemies into cake and drop them down or keep shooting them with your wand to defeat them. Check out KLOV for info on any of these 40 titles.

The year I got Super Mario Brothers 3, that Christmas was the best I ever had gift-wise. I actually still have that same copy lying around with my other old games, and it still works too. (Last edited by Bloodreign on 11-14-05 11:37 PM) |

The next thing for you to do is try and 1CC (1 credit clear, no continues used) or 1 life it, though I don't think I've met anyone who has (yet I meet people who 1 CC DonPachi and DoDonPachi all the time, DP, and DDP are shooters made by Cave, one of the best in the shmup biz).

Bust A Move/ Puzzle Bobble was the one where you shot balls to match colors, Bubble Bobble (sequels Bubble Symphony, Bubble Memories, Rainbow Islands, Parasol Stars) you shot bubbles and trapped enemies inside, pop the bubble to kill the enemy. PS and RI didn't use the bubble as a weapon, but rainbows, and an umbrella.
TL 1 came out late in October on the 26th (about 2 weeks or so after Capcom Classics Collection, which I also have), TL2 has no date announced yet, I'm waiting for one. |

Nah, BB is old enough for a younger generation not to have heard of or played it, not a problem at all.

Looks like Konami is doing a little retro thing of their own, and with my favorite shooter most of all. This makes me wonder though if it would make it on this side of the pond (U.S.), especially with Gradius Gaiden on it, this game has never graced American shores at all (unless you do like me and emu PSX and burn the game), would be nice if Konami brought this here. Heck I bought Gradius 3 and 4 for PS 2 off Ebay, if I could save some cash I'd buy a PSP for this and the new Ghouls N Ghosts (Makaimura) title. It's just too bad Konami wouldn't do this for PS 2 as well, and bring it out here. |

Gaiden is extremely fun to play, before Gradius V this was considered the pinnacle of the series, although I still think Gaiden is a tad better than even Gradius V. |
