They put a trailer up today which looks promising. It can be found on their website (in the Videos section): http://www.indianajones.com/site/index.html
I don't care how this comes out, Indy was always my favorite movie hero as a child and he still ranks high in my favorites. The very first movies that I can remember watching my life were Raiders of the Lost Ark and Temple of Doom. |

Yeah I think Sean Connery's gone into permanent retirement. Since it seems like this storyline is taking place some time after Last Crusade, as Indy's taking on Commies this time around, they might just say he passed away.
I'm not sure what's going on with Shia. At Comic-Con, Harrison Ford said that both Ray Winstone and Shia were his sidekicks, but the pictures that Annie Leibovitz took of the cast and crew in Vanity Fair sort of elude to him being Indy and Marion's son. That's just my thought. I'm sure I'm completely wrong, but it almost seemed that way. The Vanity Fair pictures can be seen here (Page 2 of the article has the picture that made me wonder if Marion was supposed to be Shia's mother): http://www.vanityfair.com/culture/features/2008/02/indianajones200802?currentPage=1 (Last edited by Rogue on 02-14-08 06:57 PM) |

Got this one off LiveJournal.
I'm going to use different characters, but you can use whomever you want. Select ten characters from any fandom (multiple fandoms are fine) 1. Cassidy (Preacher) 2. Shadow (American Gods) 3. Yvaine (Stardust) 4. Clementine (Eternal Sunshine) 5. Marquis de Sade (Quills) 6. Rosencrantz (Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead) 7. Claire Bennet (Heroes) 8. Magenta (Rocky Horror Picture Show) 9. Joxer (Xena: Warrior Princess) 10. Seven of Nine (Star Trek: Voyager) 1. 5 (Marquis de Sade) and 9 (Joxer) are in a sporting event for charity, what event do they participate in? For what charity? - Seriously, neither one of them is particularly athletic. Marquis would try to get in on some writing competition and Joxer would want to go for fencing (which he's terrible at, but is so delusional about being a hero it doesn't matter anyway) and end up playing checkers or something for a charity that supports writing pornography. The charity for pornographic writers would be Marquis' idea. He'd probably explain to Joxer that if he does it, Gabrielle who's also a bard herself, would fall for him for his support of the written arts. That and Joxer would totally be into reading Marquis' work. In the end, Gabby would still reject Joxer and Marquis would continue gleefully writing. 2. If you could be 3 (Yvaine)'s best friend for twenty-four hours, what would you spend the day doing? - We'd be wandering around lost or something, and this is assuming that I'd be on her side of the wall for that matter. Probably end up at a Planetarium so she could look up at her sisters in the sky. 3. Is 8 (Magenta) more of a cat or a dog person? - Either so long as she doesn't have to clean up after it. (My friend who used to play the character on stage and has a very similar personality is totally a cat person, though). 4. Create a live journal name for 10 (Seven of Nine). - collective_thoughts. Although she's probably not even bother with having an LJ in the first place. 5. Out of 7 (Claire) and 4 (Clementine) who would make a better preschool teacher? What type of games and activities would they do? - Either could probably be a preschool teacher, but Claire'd probably be the better choice since Clementine can be a bit on the impatient and vindictive side (although the kids would like her constantly changing haircolor and quirkiness). I really don't know what Claire would do. Bring in her teddy bear collection? Cut off her fingers and let the kids watch them grow back? ![]() 6. Where would 6 (Rosencrantz) like to spend an extended weekend? - Since he's rather curious and seems to inadvertently discover scientific properties, he might hang around Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, Balboa Park in San Diego, Exposition Park in L.A., and some other big area full of museums. 7.9 (Joxer), 4 (Clementine), and 8 (Magenta) have three seats in a row on an airplane; who gets the window seat, the aisle seat and the middle seat? What do they discuss? - Clementine would get the window, Joxer would get the center, and Magenta would get the aisle. Both Clementine and Magenta would have their elbows in Joxer's ribs and talk to each other about hair colors, science fiction films, aliens, sex, their periods, and all while ignoring whenever Joxer would input anything. 8. Write a haiku that 1 (Cassidy) might write for 10 (Seven of Nine) (5, 7, 5 syllables) - Now this would also assume that Cassidy would write a poem, which is doubtful. I mean he could write a haiku but he just wouldn't. Here goes, though. You were a borg thing... Fuck, I really need a drink Hey, you have blood right? 9. Out of 2 (Shadow) and 7 (Claire) who would you rather perform a talent show with? What would be your talent? - Claire. I mean, when else are you going to be able to throw knives at someone, saw them (almost) in half, stage a sword fight that they lose, and then shoot an apple of their head, with both you and the other person walking away unscathed? 10. 3 (Yvaine) finds a wallet with two hundred dollar/pounds/etc with ID what does s/he do? - Probably leave it alone, she knows her sisters and mother are watching her. 11. What is 1 (Cassidy)'s greatest fear? - Being out in the sunlight. 12. 5 (Marquis de Sade) was just arrest for ____, would 2 (Shadow) bail them out of jail? - Probably. He can identify since he was once an inmate himself. Although the Marquis is already being held in an asylum, so assuming he wasn't. 13. 6 (Rosencrantz) decides to throw a party, what are they celebrating? Is the party a success? - Whatever he's celebrating, chances are only Guildenstern would show up (and was probably the only person invited, although no one can ever seem to tell the difference between the two anyway and would have not shown up to disguise confusion or embarrassment in showing up at the wrong house, anyway). |

Originally posted by Dergoex Actually, yeah, it's appropriate to attach the blame on LXG. He was sort of in retirement at the time when he was offered parts in The Matrix and Lord of the Rings, but he decided against it because he didn't get what they were supposed to be about (despite his starring in things like Highlander). When those became huge, he decided to accept the role in LXG (despite not getting it either) and when it bombed he declared that Hollywood was run by idiots these days and left the business. He denied the rumors that he'd be back for Indy 4 saying that his retirement was too much fun. Who knows? The might convince him to pop in for a cameo at the end. Don't expect it, but maybe--just maybe. EDIT: I've also forgotten to mention that I think a lot of the epic pride and love that we feel about Indy (I have that, at least, not sure about most people in this generation) is lost on the generation below ours. This past Christmas when my cousin came to visit with her kids (a 12yo who was a few days from 13, 8yo, and 4yo), I put on Raiders of the Lost Ark because I figured they could watch that since most of my movies are relatively inappropriate for them or would go just over their heads and I didn't want to throw in an animated movie. The 12-year-old, Keith, wouldn't stop asking questions about it (Why did Indy do that? Why would the nazis want a giant, shiny box? Who's that? Who's that guy with the hat? What's going on?). The 8-year-old, Maddie, kept laughing about how cheesy she thought it was, and the 4-year-old, Wyatt, was too busy exploring my walk-in closet. Even when it got to the melting/exploding nazis scene at the end, they were completely unmoved. Maddie continued laughing about it, Keith was puzzled, but was Googling "High School Musical" girls naked so he was busying himself with that, and Wyatt was trying on my shoes and dancing around with my foxtail that he pulled out of the closet. They were interested in seeing Temple of Doom, which I popped in, but once again they were either asking questions or making fun of it. Meh? (Last edited by Rogue on 02-15-08 08:05 PM)

When I watched the trailer the first time around and I heard Indy say, "Damn, I thought that was closer" it came off like they were parodying themselves. I mean Indy isn't as young as he used to be so it makes sense that he'd make old man mistakes, but jeez, he just went through someone's windshield.

In the end, while I know I'll love this movie unconditionally no matter what, I truly hope it doesn't go the way of other film series out there. "Hey kids! We got the original actors from something you loved growing up to come back out of the blue and put together an unnecessary sequel because we're all out of ideas and we want you to take your children to see this despite their not understanding anything about it that you love!" *Thumbs up* Thank you, Rocky. Just finished American Splendor. It was pretty sweet.

The Simpsons is on right now. It's the one about the nuclear plant outsourcing to India and Patti and Selma kidnaps Richard Dean Anderson. Reno 911: Miami just came in today from Netflix.

It seems to be a sci-fi comedy about a single father who's trying to give his son what he can, but ends up getting a bit of help from an alien. I'm digging the nods toward Kung Fu Hustle in some of the scenes (i.e. the boy doing the Buddhist Palm move with the clouds forming into the CJ7 before falling back to earth). Giant Robot's doing a preview screening on Wednesday with Stephen Chow doing a Q&A afterwards. My friend and I are planning on going.

Oh I know all about that. It's just I hope that it doesn't come off that way like other movies (i.e. Rocky, Rambo, Die Hard 4: Live Free or Die Hard, etc) can seem to some people.

I remember reading so many different scripts online, since I was 14, that were claimed to be the "real" fourth Indiana Jones movie that was going to be made. I even dated this guy, Steven Frye (No, not the 50-somethingish British writer), who wrote one about Indy seeking out Excalibur. His script was actually discovered by several magazines who posted it around as the genuine script as well after it had been stolen by someone else who put their name on it. I think it's float about under the title Indiana Jones and the Sword of Arthur. If I remember right the one that was pushed the most as the supposed true story was Indy seeking out the immortal peaches of the Chinese Monkey King/God. That one even had a part that was written specifically for Britney Spears, as Indy's fangirl-like assistant. In one scene she was stuck in a barrel of bananas and had to eat her way out. In recent years, people were pushing the idea that the fourth movie would be about Atlantis. Ironic, though, since the Crystal Skull "kingdom" is supposedly very Atlantis-like in terms of it was believed to be highly advanced. We'll see how it comes out. EDIT: Forgot to mention in the mid-90s when there was supposedly talk of an Indiana Jones and the Lost Continent flick in the making starring Sandra Bullock as Indy's female sidekick, but obviously that didn't happen. And THAT was supposed to be about finding Atlantis. (Last edited by Rogue on 02-16-08 08:39 PM) (restricted) | (restricted) |

I started into Man from Mundania, but ended up bringing it back to the library when I realized it was the third part of a trilogy and I still needed to read the first two books. ![]() I'll get to them. I might as well pick up Discworld again since I recently acquired Equal Rites.

While this probably should go into videos, this is just crazy enough to pass for a discussion.

Whether this was inspired by Equus fans, 4Chan, Tom Green, Ebaums, or just plain hallucinogens + horse mask + video camera = MINDBLOWINGLY WTF?!, these videos have been making the rounds.
