| They used to test people to vote... it was one of the ways they kept blacks from voting in the South after it was illegal to keep them from voting due to race.
You know what you do to learn? Watch debates, which are broadcasted on *gasp* CNN and other news stations! You read that big booklet that comes before the election with information on people and propositions, and the debates for and against them that are written in newspapers. Instituting a test would decrease voter turnout, not because of people failing, but due to people going "fuck that, I just won't vote." Human apathy is a powerful opponent. So yeah, I don't think you're idea would work at all. |

| Why bother repeating that which has already been said for years? But if you want...
I don't think it is right to force people to join if they do not want to. If there had been no draft in the 1960s then the Vietnam war would have ended much earlier because there would not have been enough troops. Hence why they got rid of the draft later. The only time that the draft really comes into play is during a time of war... so let's say I get drafted. I'm Wiccan, right there we have two major problems: 1) Major religious discrimination that I can do almost nothing about. 2) Conciencious (sp?) objector... which people get bitchy over. I don't like dealing with bitchy people. Sure, technically I would be immune to the draft since I'm a college student... provided that they didn't take that part out. But what about loved ones and friends that are not? I don't want someone that I care about shipped off to a place where I may never see them again, especially if it was not thier choice. |

| In which way do you mean? What the people think about the test? The candidates? What the candidates think? The people arguing for or against a proposition? You need to make yourself a bit clearer.

| So I got the CD... there are only two tracks that I don't like. Fiona Apple's cover of Sally's Song has really nice music... but her voice has me picturing Sally at a bar, drunk and sulky whining to the bartender. And then there is She Wants Revenge's cover of Kidnap the Sandy Claws... monotone singing sucks. Gets stuck in my fucking head though.
The four songs by Danny Elfman are awesome... though Oogie Boogy comes across as gay with a high-pitched voice, which isn't helped by a deep-voiced Santa asking what he's going to do to him. It's insane to hear This is Halloween or Making Christmas though... freaking insane! And of course, Marilyn Manson makes me happy. I'm such a fangirl! Oh yes, and kudos to Fallout Boy and Panic at the Disco, both of thier songs were just awesome and I love them! |

| My definition of "not right" in this case is relates to being forced into something you may not want to do. It goes against that whole "freedom" thing that people think America is so great for.
And if his bill means that everyone is eligible for the draft there is going to be major problems. Conciencious objectors aside, members of the Jehovah's Witness faith have always been exempt from military service because it's against their beliefs to serve in the military at all. Amish have been excluded as well for their old ways. And they can't stop you from leaving the country unless you have actually been drafted... I woudn't give them that chance. Move before they get me, that's my plan. |

Silent as a gentle breeze she made her way down corridor after corridor, evading all who were scurrying about until she could get to a secluded room halfway to her destination. "Hmn, these should prove useful* *She pulled out her new equipment: two curved daggers, a sword, and a pistol. Along with them were sheaths that belted to her thighs for the daggers, a hip holster for her pistol, and a sword belt to go across her back. Seems that they kept her handicap in mind by keeping the firearms to a minimum.
