The initial one with John Cusack still has me lmao'ing. Some of this is just downright painful to watch (Jesse James Dupree on Tom Green, Crispin Glover on Letterman, etc). (Last edited by Rogue on 01-25-08 06:04 PM) |

This was reasonably easy, but there were still a couple questions that pertained to movies I haven't seen yet.
|
I still can't believe someone's remaking The Day the Earth Stood Still. Yeesh. Now people are going think that it stole "the words" from Army of Darkness.

EDIT: This thread was originally started to post the below link to Neil Gaiman reading a story; however, I occasionally find a few other things that are relatively on the same level as that. Thus I'm grouping these nifty, little things together and changing the title.
|
Just spreading the Neil love for the other fans that might read this (don't know if the Long Beach people will these days, but I'm sure there are others who read Gaiman's work). Neil reading "A Study in Emerald": http://harpercoln.vo.llnwd.net/o16/StudyInEmerald_full.mp3 Harper Collins posted it from the audio edition of "Fragile Things." The bear's sounds when it was shot were a little on the traumatizing side. |

I just noticed in this latest episode that Dhalsim didn't have an eye-patch, since he started wearing one in Episode 4.
|
There's speculation that the actor has a glass eye and he was having trouble with it that day so that's why they had Bison say, "And I just put you in an eye-patch, just now."

While I'm waiting for Brandon/Zoso to get out of the shower, I'm somewhat on the bored side, so here comes the latest installment of "Wasting Time with Rogue."
|
What was the last... ...thing you ate? - A whole bunch of Wendy's nuggets with honey mustard. ...person you talked to on the phone? - My mom. ...person you e-mailed/private messaged? - Some lady from Wizard World. ...person you hugged? - Brandon. ...person you kissed? - Brandon. ...time you laughed? - Watching Orion Slave Girls Must Die!!, right now. ...time you cried? - Shed a couple tears reading a really sweet story a couple nights ago. ...movie you watched in a theater? - Cloverfield. ![]() ...DVD you watched? - Orion Slave Girls Must Die!!. Watching it now. ...video tape you watched? - Tromeo and Juliet. ...song you listened to? - David Lee Roth's master vocal track for "Running with the Devil". ...book you finished? - Some random comic book. ..heart-to-heart you had with someone? - ... ? ...person you met? - Some people in the computer lab at school who wanted to talk. ...person who died in your life? - Still my high school Spanish teacher, but I suppose I could count Brad Renfro and Heath Ledger. I was reasonably taken aback by their early demises. ...new food you tried? - The very last one would be the hamburger I made yesterday with cheese in the center that melted when I cooked it. Before that I tried making my own gyoza and Indian fry bread. ...new thing you tried (event, action)? - Took action shots at the Vasquez Rocks. Before that, went to various places I'd never been before in Arizona and San Francisco and picketed with the WGA. ...time you went around the house in just your underwear? - Don't remember. ...time you weren't fully sober? - Had a few beers at a Christmas party last month. Didn't get buzzed, but my stomach was already hurting from eating so much really spicy food. ...you "geeked" out? - At the Star Trek Tour earlier this week, I suppose, along with getting another copy of Comic Book: The Movie in the mail. But then again there was last night when Brandon and I talked all things geek with Patrick and then rented Star Trek: First Contact. ...thing you read in the bathroom? - One of my mom's home and garden magazines. ...bargain you made? - Got a Heroes season 1 box set for $19. ...thing you planned? - Am still planning out what's going on with Comic-Con this year. ...award you won? - Same as before, some random JACC journalism award. ...piece of toast you had? - Don't recall. ...present you gave? - A leatherbound copy of Harry Potter for my niece, Madison. ...porno you saw? - Not quite sure, haven't really watched any porn. ...song you sang in the shower? - Still don't sing in the shower. ![]() ...song you had stuck in your head? - The stupid opening theme to "Enterprise." They played it so much during that Star Trek: The Tour. I swear it sounds like a terrible Christian rock song. ...thing you marked on your calendar? - That I went to the Cabrillo Aquarium and then went tidepooling with Brandon. ...errand you ran? - Got ice cream last night. ...drink you had? - The last of the Coke from Wendy's. ...cool thing you found? - This entire arcade filled with old games and player pianos from the '30s and beyond. ...time you brushed your hair? - Yesterday, maybe. ...person you talked to over AIM, YIM, etc? - Talking to Bernie right now. ...thing you bought? - Outside of the Wendy's nuggets and ice cream, Tromeo and Juliet. ...game you played? - Paint Wars. ...new place you visited? - Vasquez Rocks. Before that, there was the Bathhouse ruins, the Cliff House, Musee Mecanique, and a whole bunch of other places in San Francisco in one weekend. ...thing you celebrated? - My birthday, I guess. ...dream you had? - The last one I can remember was a nightmare about missing Comic-Con. ...thing you dressed up for (costume/formal/etc)? - Still that Halloween party several months back. ...website you visited outside of the board? - YouTube. Doing this 'til Brandon gets out of taking another shower.
|
1. Can you walk around your house at night with the lights off and not run into anything?: - Sure, but I prefer to have the lights on as I'm somewhat afraid of being in the dark. 2. Have you ever put off emailing for over a month?: - Probably. 3. Have you ever received a "why don't you write me?:" - I used to get those in high school from a couple people. 4. Have you ever taken your frustration / bad mood out on others?: - Honestly, who hasn't? 5. Have you ever had a huge argument and then realized that you were wrong?: - Years later, yeah. 6. Have you ever left things the way they were just because it would be harder to resolve it? - Several times. 7. Have you ever thought someone was "hopeless"?: - A few people. Celebrities, mostly, but then again living in L.A. makes it difficult to not hear about these people all the friggin' time. 8. Have you ever been so dazed that you take a drink of water but completely miss your mouth?: - Never really been that bad while trying to drink anything. 9. Have you ever dropped your toothbrush in the toilet?: - Nope. 10. Have you ever dropped something in the toilet that you HAD to retrieve?: - One of my rings. 11. Have you ever driven off from the gas station without closing the gas thing?: - "Gas thing"? Oh jeez. And no. Not yet, anyway. 12. Can you sleep better at night or during the day?: - I haven't been sleeping well at night lately. Often my daytime naps are the best sleep I ever get. 13. Do you print out pictures of celebrities / musicians off of the internet?: - Nope. 14. Have you ever entered an art contest?: - In elementary school. 15. Last video you favorited on YouTube?: - This one from the Star Trek Tour I went to with Brandon. Someone managed to tape a lot of what there was to see there. 16. Is your favorite color evident by the clothes you wear?: - Not necessarily. I often buy clothes because they're comfortable and look reasonably-well on me. Color is an after-thought to those two things. 17. Coats and sweaters or tank tops and bathing suits?: - I sort of prefer having to wear coats. 18. Do you think everyone needs to have a significant other during the winter months?: - Who wrote this question? No one "needs" a significant other just because of a cold season. 19. Is there a movie that you can really relate to?: - Off the top of my head, there's Harold and Maude, Comic Book: The Movie, Clerks 1 & 2, and some parts of American Beauty. 20. Do you believe there's a rainbow in all of us? - What the hell? 21. Have you ever gone to a "place of business" so often that costumers think you work there?: - Not really, but people often do ask me were things are when I don't work at these places (i.e. Costco, Cost Plus: World Market, etc). 22. Would you go to a strip club to watch members of the opposite sex? Same sex?: - I sort of did that for my birthday. It was a girls' pole-dancing club. The other time I was at a "strip club" was for Tracy's birthday and it was actually amateur night with both male and female strippers at a restaurant we went to. She bought me a lap-dance. ![]() 23. What do you think of guys who dress in drag?: - They're awesome. Seriously, they often look better than most women. 24. Do you think movies overemphasize the differences in society? (Sexual preferences, racial, cultural, religious identities): - Overemphasize? I don't know. I've never really watched a movie and gotten pissed about the illustration of a schism between one group of people and another. Humans are different from each other and movies probably should present these things. Uh.. yeah. 25. Do you look at people in the car next to you at the stoplight?: - Sometimes. 26. Have you ever said a word so many times in a row that it didn't even sound like a word anymore?: - Probably. 27. Was there a book series you read growing up?: - As a little kid, the Bernstein Bears. Then I started reading Judy Blume's books, and so on. 28. Do you write letters on notebook paper, stationary, computer paper, other, or all?: - If I ever right them anymore, it's usually on what paper I can find. Printer paper, maybe? 29. Ever written a letter to someone and weren't able to give it to them because it was so personal and detailed?: - I've written ones like that, but they were telling someone off for the way they've been treating me. I threw them away as they weren't worth causing more bullshit with these people. 30. Where do your wet towels end up after your shower / bath?: - On the floor. Eventually in a dirty clothes hamper. 31. Have you ever guessed what time it was and been off by hours?: - I'm sure I have. 32. Do you have a subscription to anything?: - Not right now. I used to get Marvel comics and the occasional magazine like National Geographic or the Atlantic Monthly. 33. Do you get more friend mail, business mail, or junk mail?: - Junk mail, these days. Mostly credit card offers. 34. Ever slept nude?: - Yes. 35. Ever walked around your house nude?: - Only in trying to get to the laundry room to get something out to wear. 36. Anyone ever accidentally see you naked? Visa versa?: - Maybe when I was in elementary school and my daycare/summer school would take us to the pool and you've have those kids who'd go around pulling back people's changing curtains. I've seen a few people naked by mistake, though. 37. Do you dental floss daily?: - Not regularly. 38. Do you use mouthwash or think that brushing is enough?: - I brush and scrape my tongue. 39. Ever been in the middle of a sexual act and actually felt the heat between the two of you?: - Who's writing these questions? And yes. ![]() 40. Are you able to act?: - Yeah, I guess. 41. Can you give public speeches without freaking out?: - I used to be able to, but now I've noticed that I get weird in front of crowds. 42. Ever had to think extremely hard to remember what happened the day before?: - Sometimes, but that's just because my mind is strange. 43. Which is better: music of today, music of yesterday?: - I'm more for music of yesterday, but depending on the genre there is some music of today that's pretty good. 44. Do you drive through town or around it?: - Depends on where I'm going. ![]() 45. Have you ever found humor in a part of a movie that no one else does?: - YES! That's me with horror films among other things like overly dramatic movies (I laughed about the end of Titanic). I root for the killers and bad guys in those stories because the lead characters often lack the common sense to not put themselves in certain situations. Also most main characters in horror films are really lame. 46. What do you spend most of your money on?: - Other than food and other essentials, when I have the money for it, conventions and travel. 47. What do you waste most of your money on?: - Um. Refer to #46. 48. Can you like the lyrics without liking the song?: - It's definitely a possibility. 49. Can you like the song without understanding the lyrics?: - It's apparently how a lot of metal and indie/scene fans are with their music. Who cares about lyrics when a tune is catchy? ![]() 50. Are accents a turn on?: - Depends. Usually they are, I guess. 51. Do you dream more good than bad?: - Probably. I tend to have either really weird dreams or ones that venture on the nightmare side. 52. Can you interpret your own dreams or do you have to have someone else tell you what they think?: - No one really interprets mine for me. I either just forget about them and chalk them up as weird, or I take the surface meaning for what it is and leave it at that (ex: remembering to wear clothes to school, not forgetting the tickets to something, making sure to make it and have fun at Comic-Con, etc). 53. Radio or CDs?: - Mp3s. CDs, otherwise. Radio in L.A. sucks. 54. Movies or TV series?: - Movies usually. I only watch a couple things on TV, although I do have some TV-based fandoms that were there a movie it would fuck it all up. 55. Have you ever regretted saying something hurtful?: - I'm sure I have. 56. Have you ever regretted expressing your love?: - I shouldn't, but there are a couple people I wish I didn't say I loved who I realize now I really didn't. 57. Do you think some things should be left unsaid?: - There probably are a couple things, but then again life's short. 58. Do you stand up for yourself?: - Usually. Sometimes it's not worth the fight. 59. Do you stand up for others?: - I tend to stand up for other people more than myself. 60. Do you know the difference between standing up for others and fighting someone else's battles?: - For the most part, as I really haven't "fought someone else's battles" for them. As an aspiring journalist myself, there seems to always be work in copy-editing. It's one of those jobs that not many people want to do and yet needs to be done.
|
Seriously, go for it.

Maddox criticizes women's fashion: http://www.thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=fashion

I seriously can't help but agree with everything he posted about. I despise Crocs. I can't figure out why people are wearing them like they're regular shoes. The original point of them was for being able to go in the water at the beach with them without having to take them off and so on. I also completely agree with him on red lipstick, Castro hats and the tops he refers to as "tit curtains." If you ever visit L.A.'s Sunset Strip where all the rock clubs are you see nothing but this crap. (Last edited by Rogue on 01-29-08 02:00 PM)

Oh man, I cannot understand that enough.

My stats teacher listed a $125 book as the required text for the class and on the first day he says, "You don't have to buy the book. I'm going completely off of notes I've taken from all the books I've used through the years." Luckily I hadn't bothered buying the book yet, but a majority of the class already did and had already removed the "No refund if removed" wrapping. Nice. Anyway, my teacher is from the Philippines. He's a reasonably nice guy, but people keep having trouble understanding his accent (it's a sinch for me. He sounds like half of my family). On several occasions, though, I've heard other students refer to him as a "FOB" (racial slur against Asians and other immigrants meaning "Fresh off the boat"). I don't know. I'm not pissed, but I am rather annoyed by the usage. (Last edited by Rogue on 01-28-08 09:02 PM)

We already have a quiz tomorrow on the 30 vocabulary words he wrote on the board last week. Many of the terms are only different from each other in very subtle ways and I'm really worried I'm going to fuck up right off the bat. It's the one class I need to get out of there. ![]() EDIT: Every time I check the RateMyProfessors.com page on him I find another post that calls him what I mentioned above. Example: http://ratemyprofessors.com/ShowRatings.jsp?tid=428531&page=2 (Last edited by Rogue on 01-29-08 02:23 AM)

Oh, for the love of... Are they serious? No disrespect for the dead, but the movie's website should offer much more than that. Perhaps that should have been the lead-in page instead of the picture of the Bat-arang.

OK, so College Humor posted this video and asks the question, "Between 0:38 and 0:41, does she have a penis?"

Oddly appropriate that this needs to be addressed in an Air Supply video. EDIT: Just wanted to note that yes, the video is entirely safe to view and no, it's not a Rickroll. (Last edited by Rogue on 01-29-08 02:35 PM) |
