Faire season. 4. Dia de los Muertos. One of those surveys pertaining to couples: 1. Who eats more? - We eat about the same, though I eat less in one sitting. Usually I take home half of my meal and eat it later while he rarely has leftovers. 2. Who said "I love you" first? - I think I did on accident. Like he was dropping me off at a friend's house and when I got out I said, "Bye, I love you" and then suddenly realized what I said. 3. Who is the morning person? - I am more than he is. 4. Who sings better? - I'm pretty sure he does. 5. Who?s older? - He is, by 17 days shy of a year. 6. Who?s smarter? - Depends in what area. He's the computer/technical-genius and musician, I'm the writer and philosophical one who's also a huge trivia, fandom, and museum geek. We're pretty even, but I'd give him the bigger edge on logic. 7. Whose temper is worse? - He rarely gets very angry, so mine by default. 8. Who does the laundry? - He does. 9. Who does the dishes? - When they get done, me. 10. Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? - It varies. Depends who falls asleep where. 11. Whose feet are bigger? - His. 12. Whose hair is longer? - Mine. But he has it everywhere. 13. Who?s better with the computer? - He is. 14. Do you have pets? - We have Miko, the most pathetic cat in the world. 15. Who pays the bills? - He pays what's his, otherwise since we live with my parents, they do. 16. Who cooks dinner? - When we don't go out, I do. 17. Who drives when you are together? - He usually did, but since I've gotten my permit, I have been doing most of the driving. 18. Who pays when you go out to dinner? - Lately he's been paying. 19. Who?s the most stubborn? - I am. 20. Who is the first one to admit when they?re wrong? - He is, usually, though I do my share of apologizing. 21. Whose family do you see more? - Mine, we live with them. His mother's in another state and he's not very close with his father. 22. Who named your pets? - Miko was my cat before he moved in. 23. Who kissed who first? - Simultaneous. 24. Who asked who out? - He asked me, after he already started making the assumption that we were a couple and I told him he hadn't asked me out yet. 25. Who has the weirder interests? - Between the two of us, I do, but we're both open to each other's interests. A sampling of us (not all of our interests listed, but just a handful of the big ones): Mine: Xena, comic books, sci-fi/comic/anime conventions, Renaissance faires, museums, Flogging Molly, Neil Gaiman, Alan Moore, Battle Royale, Stephen Chow movies, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Greek mythology, Mythbusters, PBS, anime, philosophy, celebrating Dia de los Muertos (I really do this), the History Channel, and to a lesser extent: blogging it all. His: Terminator, Star Trek, guitars, metal music, Metallica, Led Zeppelin, Arnold Schwarzenegger movies, computers, American Chopper, science-fiction, and going to as many concerts as possible. Both of ours: Heroes, Rocky Horror (we were both on a cast together), metal music, zombie-walking, Spike and Mike, Kevin Smith movies, driving to roadside attractions, Greek and Mexican food, The Big Lebowski (both of us go to LebowskiFest when it's in town), video games, Poxy Boggards, Sound & Fury, Star Trek (he's getting me more into it), seeing action movies in IMAX, and exploring. 26. Who?s more sensitive? - I am. Though he doesn't cry or anything, he's still pretty feeling. 27. Who?s taller? - He is by a couple inches. 28. Who has more friends? - I suppose I do, though I don't hang out with as many people as I used to. 29. Who has more siblings? - He does. I'm an only child. 30. Who has more costumes? - I do, though whenever there's a costume party we have to go to, I dress him up and he looks way better than I do since I usually don't put so much into my costume. I have Renaissance faire garb and leftover masquerade costumes, though. |

So this is funny. The Producers' alliance is slowly releasing images to discredit the writers.
Images that also happen to be grammatically-incorrect: ![]() |

Cally pulled out one of the chairs available in the office. Easing herself into it and crossing her legs in front of her, she prepared for the worst while maintaining her frozen demeanor. (Last edited by Rogue on 12-18-07 05:58 AM) |

She shifted in her seat for a moment. It was inevitable that this offer would come, but she never knew what she would say when the moment might arrive.
"That's very generous, sir, but I'm not sure if I deserve that just yet." She shifted a little again. "Perhaps if I had time to mull your offer over?" (Last edited by Rogue on 12-20-07 07:22 PM) |

She remained silent for a minute, staring at the floor.
'This was what Lolo* wanted,' she told herself. ((OOC: "Lolo" is Tagalog for "grandfather")) (Last edited by Rogue on 12-18-07 06:30 AM) |

"Thank you, Mr. Shermann, I shall put some serious thought into your offer."
Cally then stood and turned toward the door, releasing the breath she didn't realize she'd been holding. (Last edited by Rogue on 12-18-07 01:55 PM) |

I don't have a MySpace account, but apparently this has been going all over it before it was PM'd to me to fill out. So many of you have probably seen this before.
2007 AWARDS... DON?T HOLD BACK!!! DRINKING BUDDY OF THE YEAR: - I actually didn't do near as much drinking as any of my past years, so this is going to Brandon by default for last year's Oktoberfest celebrations. LIFETIME SERVICE AWARD (LONGEST FRIEND) - As in the longest one I'm still talking to after all these years? Aly, probably, though I haven't seen her in a while. NEWCOMER AWARD - NEWEST FRIEND? - Pam or Crystal, though they aren't see-regularly friends, they're still people I'll probably see again at fan meets for Heroes and such. LOW POINT OF THE YEAR? - Probably some time around February when I lost my office job because I didn't have enough units (you need to be taking at least 12 to qualify for work), on top of which both of my parents were in and out of the hospital and I wasn't driving yet. To rub more salt in the wound, my cat died. BEST HOLIDAY? - Dia de los Muertos, as always. YOUR SONG(s) FOR 2007? - Added the s as there are several songs I'd consider my 2007 picks, although they're definitely from long before '07: "Hold Tight" -- Dave, Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Tich. "Paint It Black" -- Rolling Stones "Last Night in Baltimore" -- Poxy Boggards ALBUM OF THE YEAR - Not sure. Probably Rogue's Gallery, though I bought it last year. BEST MOVIE FOR 2007? - 300 in IMAX. Grindhouse at the drive-in. Stardust and Beowulf get honorable mentions. Iceman and Cinema Paradiso on VHS. WORST MOVIE OF 2007? - I really only went to see movies that I'd been wanting to see (and of course liked), but I held out to see Spider-Man 3 in the cheap theater and of all of the things I'd seen it was pretty bad. BEST CONCERT OF 2007? - Weird Al at the Orange County Fair. Absolutely amazing. BEST PLAY/STAGE SHOW OF 2007? - The Beastly Bombing wins overall, but Ask-a-Ninja live, Cyranose!, and Phil's Fill the Void Part Deux were all really good. MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT FOR 2007? - There were a ton of them. Be it picketing with the Heroes cast and crew last week, sitting a couple feet away from Neil Gaiman during an early screening of Stardust at Comic-Con, my goddaughter's birthday party a couple weeks ago, finally getting to hang out with Gina and her son Connor a few times over the year, or getting my driving permit. BEST LAUGH FOR 2007? - Watching Grindhouse the first time through with Brandon at the drive-in. "Nachos!!" WHO DID YOU SPEND VALENTINES WITH? - Went to dinner with my parents like any other day. I got Brandon a flower, though. ![]() WHAT DID YOU DO FOR YOUR BIRTHDAY? - Visited my dad in the hospital. Watched the nurse change his bandages, when he had all of the skin from his back removed and it was all exposed muscle. WhiteRose, Elara and everyone else later gave Brandon and me a fondue party a couple weeks later (though it was also a nice excuse to hang out with each other). BEST RELATIONSHIP? - There's only been one for nearly 4 years. ![]() WHAT WERE YOU FOR HALLOWEEN? - Um... a person. Dressed Brandon up as Wolverine for a party, but I just wore one of my leftover Labyrinth Masquerade costumes. RESTAURANT OF THE YEAR? - Heart Attack Grill! BOOK OF THE YEAR? - 100 Bullets, I guess. BEST DECISION MADE THIS YEAR? - To just go down to the DMV and get my permit. WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS FOR NEXT YEAR? - To, at the very least, start attending university. I'm all applied. Enrolled in the last class I need to transfer. MOST STUPID IDEA WHEN DRUNK - Falling asleep. Seriously, that'll learn me. ![]() TV SHOW OF THE YEAR? - Heroes. I don't watch much else on TV. MOST LOYAL FRIEND? - By default, Brandon. BIGGEST CHANGE OF THE YEAR? - The way I view myself. BIGGEST DUMBASS AWARD? - After going through today, it's hard to decide who wins that crown. BEST NEW THING YOU DID? - Drove out to the middle of nowhere to watch this huge meteor shower. NEW YEARS RESOLUTION? - The usual stuff: At least one museum a month, at least 10 books read (I tend to read novellas online along with the usual periodicals, comics, manga, and so on), etc. MOST OVER DONE NEWS STORY - Anything that appears on TMZ--mainly Britney Spears and Paris Hilton's trainwreck semi-charmed lives. Cally plopped herself down in her desk chair again. At last, she was back in her office. Remembering her messages, she held down the 1 key again on her cellphone.
((OOC: Cally's cellphone automatically dials her apartment's landline and the code for the answering machine when holding 1 down until it's all dialed and connected. Her cellphone is usually reserved strictly for "business calls")) "You have 1 new message," the automated voice of the machine began. "Message 1 received today at 2:42 p.m." "Cally, just got word of a new mark in L.A. I need to hear from you as soon as possible." Cally smiled a little to herself. Agwe. "And before you ask, Marie is fine. She's happy and safe and I know you miss seeing her. She misses her godmother too." She grinned a little more. "She's been wanting to hear more of your stories again. But back to business. Call me about the job if you're interested. Talk to you later, Cally." Click. "Heard you got the offer, Roxton." Cally closed her cellphone and looked up to see George standing in her office's doorway. "Bakla..." she groaned to herself. "Malaki ang susu mo," George shot back, walking closer to her desk. Cally's brow furrowed momentarily. Then she laughed. "Anak ka nang puta," she snickered out. George put on his confident shit-eating-grin. "So what did you say to Shermann?" He prodded. "Told him I'd think about it." "Don't want to give up killing people?" She smiled sarcastically and slitted her eyes at him. "Like it would be any different here when necessity calls for it," she very briefly stuck her tongue out at him. "Oh how in the world did I end up with such a cheeky, little bird like you as a partner?" he jokingly offered to the heavens. "'One of us with one of them,' remember?" she jabbed, smiling like a cat that just ate the family canary. (Last edited by Rogue on 12-20-07 05:53 PM) |

So Guillermo del Toro just put up a teaser trailer for Hellboy II.
This link will take you to Myspace's "Trailer Park" where this is supposed featured. Will have to find a perma-link asap: http://www.myspace.com/trailerpark I'm definitely going to see this (probably not the first week, possibly in the cheap theaters, but I'll make a point of seeing it in theaters). EDIT: There's better available at IGN: http://media.movies.ign.com/media/041/041373/vids_1.html The MySpace thing was just what Ain't It Cool was sending people to. It's not for everyone.
When I saw it with Brandon, people walked out and demanded refunds for not knowing it was subtitled. Past that I wasn't expecting it to be as brutal as it was. When I'd seen the preview and everything for it at last year's Comic-Con, they billed it as the next happy-go-lucky Labyrinth or Dark Crystal, so I didn't expect the harshness. While I gritted my teeth during some scenes, the movie's quite beautiful in the symbolism and camera-work. To me, it is, anyway. There are some themes that carry between HB and Pan's Labyrinth, like carved symbol on the floor. In the first Hellboy, it was where Rasputin was resurrected when the blood collected in it. Same sort of concept in Pan's Labyrinth. |

George and Cally grinned back and forth. Though they never really construed what they felt for each other as hate, per se, they rarely had a moment of sincere pleasure in each other's presence.
Suddenly Cally's cellphone rang. "Showtime," she said, before looking at the number in the caller ID and recognizing the area code as that which surrounded Celebration High. It would be expected that they'd be calling up soon after the abduction. George nodded. Cally opened the phone. "Hello, Most Valuable Photographers, Mia speaking." ((OOC: She has a home phone at her apartment that she speed dials to pick up her personal messages and the number on the business card she made up for Principal Hicks calls her cellphone. She figures it's easier to do this than give fake numbers causing people to get suspicious. Also since Celebration High's apparently been placed in California where there can be 10 different area codes per county, Cally was able to figure out where the call was coming from.))
Cally thumbed through some papers on her desk while staring off into the middle-distance, making it sound as though she were flipping through a calendar. "All right, Katie, was it?" she started, cheerfully. "We're a little backed up at the moment. Football season and all. We've got coaches calling every hour wondering when the team shots are getting back from the lab. You know how it is. But I can send one of our photographers out next week, if you're still interested." (Last edited by Rogue on 12-21-07 10:14 PM) |

I actually like the thought of a haphazard superhero movie.
Will Smith wouldn't be my first choice and a few blogs that have posted the trailer online have been going on about how much this movie looks like it's going to suck, but honestly this looks like something I'd see and be thoroughly entertained. |

To the 50 or 60-somethingish woman in the red '07 Ford Five Hundred in the Wells Fargo parking lot 2 days ago, wherever you are: My father and I can't thank you enough for the gash you left in the side of our car. I silently excused you for bumping it the first time with your cardoor, believing it was just an accident since you parked over the lines after all. But when you pulled the door back, seemingly to re-calculate how to get out, then with as much force as you could muster, threw it open and beautifully-slammed it into our car, I couldn't help but accept the lackadaisical "Sorry" you muttered out as you waddled into the bank.
Getting your license plate number will probably not do anything as you seemed to ignore me when you got back in your car and drove away. It's no wonder your obviously-new vehicle already has dents in the front bumper. Anyway, thanks and a sincere "Fuck you" just the same. (Last edited by Rogue on 12-22-07 12:58 AM) |
