I'm digging the Half Life comradery you two share.
But yeah. Needle punch him in the throat, and if it doesn't kill him, tell him that you'll do that for every mess he leaves. Dude, I HATE that shit. (Although, don't get me wrong, my bedroom is almost always fucking disgusting. Between work, school, and my family, by the time I even MAKE it to my room, I'm passing out in the doorway. But still, something I should work on. Kinda sucks when its 9x11 feet and I'm living/running a business out of it. Artwork. Head out of the gutter.) But yeah. Beat him up or something. Either that or make him split the price of the house evenly, bigger room or not, for all the work you do. |

Nothing landed in my neck of the woods, but my nieces and nephews got out of school because the city was freaking out. Supposed to be around 60 degrees or so by next Monday. Not sure if that'll stay though. But honestly? Spring isn't until the end of March anyway, and people around here are complaining that it shouldn't be cold still in March (although it HAS been unseasonably cold, I'll give them that.) but, I dunno...I'll take a cold March, and half decent April for a warm October and November. **shrugs**

Originally posted by X You are a champion among men, dear sir. But soda decreases appetite and doesn't help in the dehydration department. So I've been told. Appetite I can definitely see though, from my own experiences. Speaking of your blood sugar issues, I remember when you used to talk about it, and I am truly glad for you that things seem to be working out. Its one of those things that I wouldn't ever encourage paranoia over, especially if you've always checked out okay when you saw a doctor/checked up on it. But its still not something to ignore either, which you handled smashingly, when we were talking about it. Someone's sugar levels can still go high or low even if they're not diabetic. Easier said than done, but finding out what's causing it and then taking care of it seems to be the way to go, which you've done. Back to the smart water topic though? I checked the bottles at work...same thing, they're just packaged a little differently...and....holy fuckballs...they're hard as shit to open. Pisses me off. |

Originally posted by Lord Alexandor BAM. You too Vulkar. Whether you two and I agree/disagree on this topic, or any topic for the matter, the fact that you two know how to keep bigotry, for lack of a better way to phrase, out of your opinions makes me a very happy camper. See, here's the thing. I'm not against homosexuality. And I wouldn't want someone walking up to me, treating me like dirt and telling me they can and will take my right to feel the way that I feel/think the way that I think just because they don't agree. So, I don't do that to others. I like when I see people who can hold onto their beliefs without hurting others. With that said...yeah, the "Marriage" and "Matrimony" thing, like Elara said. Only thing is, I point that out very tentatively, simply because religion is a GINORMOUS dome, so to speak, and I'm only recalling a viewpoint from one small corner of the whole idea of religion and the beliefs that come with it. I don't think what I was taught about the two terms is enough to squish the idea that gay rights would be "imposing" upon religious beliefs. But I also bring us back to the First Amendment. It is very clearly stated that you're free to your beliefs, but Congress isn't allowed to care about your beliefs when it comes to making laws. So, when people say our other amendment rights are being assaulted...they seem to forget about that little tidbit....So, needless to say, I'm VERY interested in the discussions about this topic that DOESN'T involve religious beliefs. Your opinion is your opinion, but if you don't want my liberal leanings to take your guns away, then your conservative leanings best not break the "religion isn't allowed to be factored into lawmaking" mentality. (Unlike ranting on facebook, I appreciate the fact that I can be sarcastic without you guys taking me seriously, but still getting the point being made.) So seriously, can someone please indulge me and talk about why this is an issue, without including religion? (PS, Elara, I loved your "Devil's Advocate" on facebook. I'll have to re-read it, but they made a point that's actually notable, beneath the trolling. Lol) |

I think its a mixture. I think there really are right wingers that are only supporting this because they'll keep losing if they don't. But I also believe that there are some who truly don't mind it and are now unafraid to speak up. And then there's the ones who have changed their minds because its a realistic part of their own personal lives now...and those people...I don't exactly disrespect them, or feel like 'You're only saying that NOW because your child is gay." <---at least I don't feel that last part in any bitter sort of way. We're all entitled to have something give us that kick in the pants.

I totally forgot about "Warm Bodies"! And I had wanted to see it too!
I saw "Olympus Has Fallen" about two weeks ago. Honestly? I loved it. Its easy for me to throw reality out the door and just be entertained by what I'm watching, so keeping that in mind, "Olympus" was fantastic. The cast worked really well together. And, is it just me, or can Girard Butler pretty much do anything? I mean, he's REALLY freaking talented. He's got things like this and 300, Phantom of the Opera, and some chick flicks under his belt. I saw the one with Jennifer Aniston, and didn't really care for the movie, but as far as analyzing Girard Butler...dude, the guy pulls off whatever role he's in. I can't help but just admire that. Oh, and the action didn't disappoint me. I'm pretty sure it's my love for action movies since I was a really little kid that helped me say "Screw it. Just because 'that can't happen in real life' doesn't mean this isn't entertaining as all hell." Oh! And I saw Jurassic Park in 3-D and Evil Dead this past Friday. I was like a giddy little kid again with Jurassic Park. It was very well done. Lots of 1993 asses in your face though. Watch it and you'll know what I mean. And Evil Dead was okay. I mean, even the original franchise was meant for entertainment value only, whether it was scarier or on the funnier side. It was a B movie, and that's what B movies are, if I am correct. So, yeah. Basically, last three things I saw were a good use of my time and I don't feel the need to rip them apart. |

Been watching the news ever since I got home. Center City Philly went a little apeshit today, but otherwise...this shit is terrible.
I hate the connections with this time of year they're making too. Like...if its not one thing to be afraid of, its another, it seems like they're trying to enforce... |

Originally posted by Rogue That infuriates me to no end. If I remember correctly, it took a good minute or two before President Bush used that word, didn't it? (911 was MUCH more blatant, so take that into consideration.) I'm not a fan of Gee Dubwya, but the criticism over his initial reactions to 911 was ridiculous, in my opinion. The guy was in the presence of children on top of the fact that any leader, whether you voted for 'em or not, would be smart to do everything in their power to remain somber and serious, but not cause mass panic. More than "need" be, that is. The same applies to Obama yesterday, in my opinion. (Correct me if I'm wrong on the thing with Bush. And remember, I'm being considerate of the different situations.) The reason for bringing this up is to remind people criticizing Obama for this now, that history is a tool to learn from.... |

Looks like my family...
Originally posted by Rogue Slight exaggeration, of course, but, my sister was 19 when she had her second child (this is important because it is the second child that made her a grandmother.) and my niece was 16 with HER baby. My sister was 32 when she became a grandmother. Several years off from these people, but considering this sort of situation has been around me my entire life, I can tell you its pretty damn close. People may have been having babies and getting married at 14 before...that may have been the norm...but shorter life expectancy, and fatality rates while delivering babies was also the norm. Society is changing for a reason (barring going into all of the specifics of politics, mind you.) But, people are opting to have children later in life because most, not all I digress, people can't function on their own until they're closer to their 30's. I'll tell you right now, I work my ass off. Always have. I'm still "at home" because I'm the one supporting my family, but even if I wasn't, I couldn't afford to live on my own right now anyway, much less successfully raise a child. I love my family very VERY much, but they're drains to "our system" and they're not teaching their children how to avoid the same outcome they reached. I'm going to end the rant there, but this is one of the few departments that I'll be one of the first to step up and claim to understand what its like to be caught up in this sort of life. And y'all are right. The part about good luck giving up the things you love for so many years...and the expenses...oh goodness the expenses. I'm working my ass off SO much that I'm managing to get two nieces at a time through a community college, and MAJORLY supporting my great-niece. And that's just the tip of what I'm financially taking on, and there's STILL more that my sisters actually do. Its crazy, and just because you can physically pump out children, doesn't mean you're ready for the consequences. With that said, I wish this family all the luck in the world and sincerely hope they're happy and well. |

So, left the law firm a few months ago...things just didn't line up right. First of all, my boss got into a pretty bad car accident and was out of commission for a while. Long story short, there's proof of this. However, my hours kept tapering off. And then finally, I was "let go.", told my boss' office was going to be closed down for a while because he was going to be out for an indeterminable amount of time, and his cases needed to be farmed out. As I was leaving, I had them put it to me in writing that THAT was the reason for my departure.
So, I just get a call from the place that I've been interviewed twice by, saying that they called the law firm, and was told, BY THE LAWYER I WORKED FOR, that I was let go for job abandonment. What I WANT to do is go down there and beat the living daylights out of every little poindexter in that office. However, I just sent over the letter I received, and I'm going to see how that goes. Side note, about a month before I was "let go" the head of the firm did something weird. He was always trying to play with my hair anyway, and I was always able to just walk away without thinking much of it. I'm not one for being touched by anyone, even those closest to me, so when someone was saying, in a very grandfatherly way, how they loved my long hair and that it was classy (paraphrasing, it really wasn't that creepy) any inkling of getting close to it was shot down before it COULD be weird. Until one day, he comes up behind me, and is rubbing my lower back. I stepped forward, turned around, and told him that if he ever did that again, that I would break his hands (hindsight, shoulda reported it instead of saying something). Well, this is already long, but something was fishy last month anyway, not going to get into that, and I learned that three other girls before me left the firm because of a groping incident with that lawyer. They were "let go" for one reason of another, but one of the lawyers called in a favor and got them a new job. (Happened to me too, only that job wasn't paying enough, hence looking for this new one.) and because I'm a BAMF at research, I got pretty far into gathering information, and if it comes to it, can get them to testify, I think. At least the two of them. So, anywho...the new place called me today, asking for an explanation, because of course the law firm was on my resume, and since I have nothing to hide, I told them the truth when I was interviewed. Twice. That and they really want to get in touch with my old store manager from GameStop, so they called me to ask if I would be able to get in touch with him and have him call them back. I'm thinking that there's still some hope of being a shoe-in for the job. I can't see why they'd do all of this back and forth, they interviewed other people, ya know? (Le fin. Definitely just high stress and a "wtf" moment here.) |

Yup. I mean, it was very stupid of me to not report it. Everything happened so fast, and it didn't phase me as much as it should have. I don't have a dad to go home and cry to for him to walk into a place like that with guns blazing. When I tell you I'm going to break your hands for touching me, everyone who made that mistake AFTER I warned them, did get a broken hand. Plain and simple. (My brother-in-law would go in guns blazing, but he's also a sensitive little guy, and I'm an adult now and we look out for each other instead of just him taking care of me. ) But yeah, very VERY stupid of me. That was in the beginning of November. Then around the end of November, he was trying to get his secretary to come in on Black Friday and work, and she made a big stink about it, saying that she wasn't going to come in and work when he was the only other one there.
That's when I actually DID report it, and while yes, honest to goodness, my boss really was out of commission for a few weeks starting the beginning of December. I was suddenly "let go" for it, the one lawyer called in a favor, got me another job at some gym, I was supposed to be their operation's manager, and once I made it past the probationary period, I was told that making more than 9 bucks an hour was impossible because they have no place to promote me. In the meantime, my cousin tried getting me a job in her building. Her firm wasn't hiring, but she was cool with the other firms. Well, that turned into a fiasco. There was another paralegal there who happened to work at MY old firm, and she had a similar story. I ended up finding out there were two other girls. All three of their stories were a little worse than mine. Doesn't make it right for him to do it, but I'm really thinking that the lawyer who was a little touchy-feely wasn't the kind of guy to keep pushing it if they react the way I did. One girl admitted she encouraged it, and the other is hiding something, I know that, and the one I talked to first said she wasn't brave enough to threaten him. She reported him to the rest of the firm though. And all three of them were "let go" and offered other jobs through lawyers calling in favors, essentially. So...if I don't get this job, which will be sooo much more money and a legitimate future attached to it, that means I'm still unemployed. Which means now I have time to add to my "special set of skills" and that whole firm is going down. No if ands or buts. I also still haven't heard back from the new place, but I DID send in my proof that I was told I was being let go for other reasons, and that I didn't stop showing up because I abandoned the job, but I stopped showing up because the signed letter I have TOLD me not to. I'm hoping they take that into consideration and discount the firm as a reference with the exception of them confirming the dates I worked there. Seriously. Fml. |

Tossed this up today. Chopped the shit outta my hair last night. Used to be all one length and down past my butt. Thing is, it was all nasty and ratty and disgusting and had to go. So nasty that I couldn't donate it. I kept getting turned down. So, I chopped it myself. Can't see all the layers because my hair is so dark. And, I haven't dyed my hair in 4, almost 5 years, so, yay for natural color? :p

I do, but I don't. This is one of those things I'd love to be in a public speaking/debate class and I wouldn't care which side I was put on, I'd have a little bit of fun with it.
Point is, I can see both ways. To me its obvious that there is a problem with the criminals being all black, and the other side of the glass are white people. And the way each side is depicted as well. Basically, its out there enough that I would more than respect someone insulted by this. BUT, I personally see this as one big goofball ad. I have a very crude sense of humor though and can handle a lot of really bad things hurled at me, especially in the scope of humor. Another reason why I wouldn't call someone wrong for being insulted by this. Mountain Dew pushed things or did weird things in their ads for years. The people the drink is marketed to are usually those types of people though, with that type of humor (That commercial with the Ram fighting that dude? I died when I was a kid, watching that.) |

I know I know...he doesn't come to the board anymore, but still. My twin, albeit being ten days older than me, is turning 25 today, and as per my tradition for the past...9 years exactly. (His 16th birthday was the first thread I made for him...and then 10 days later, MoD crashed and shit....happened on my birthday. XD) but either way....
Spyware!!! If you happen to stumble across this, I miss you very much, and I'm keeping up with tradition! Hope its a great one. **hugh fives** |
