(That's just it, people always say the parents need to push their kids, teachers need to push the kids...the kids need to learn how to push THEMSELVES on top of it all. And our school system doesn't foster that!) It's still rare for exceptional intelligence the better prepared for it our instructors are, the less rare that will become. Which is a good thing. It shouldn't be an option, per se...more or less "Look, either we just call it a tax and expect you to trust us, OR, we make it perfectly clear and allow you to see step-by-step what the hell is going on." Grant it, there's a lot more thought in the space between now and that theorized moment. Is it unfair? I'm pretty sure it is. But there are a lot of things that are unfair out there. Wordplay. Back 'em into a corner where it's either A) we do this the easy way, or B) we make you look like a complete and total fucktard for not putting in your share of the effort. Kind alike the manual labor idea..someone's got to build it. Someone's got to do a little bit of everything. I still don't necessarily think that greed and corruption is a direct association with wealth. There are good and bad people of all shapes and sizes. But, that's why we have tax write-offs for good deeds. :p |

Colds are not fun at all.  Feel better!!!
And Phoenix, be VERY careful with Craigslist. I got lucky (Sort of.) Lately I hit a lull. Apparently being on their payroll as salary doesn't kick in for like 6 months, and until then it's commission. And, I'm making more money a month off of my residual income from that energy deregulation shit than I am on this commission. I was still putting up with the job, but basically, you're supposed to scout people. And total strangers have been following and harassing me, and one tried getting me into their car...so...I'm probably going to just back out of this gig completely. Or at least just go back in 6 months, cuz I completed the training. They still have to pay me salary when I work in their offices. So in the meantime, the job hunt is on again. And been pretty busy with that, plus taking care of my gram. And I'm on the fence about the giant ass TV here in my kitchen. I take pride in having a TV in odd places, but I've been working my ass off with trying to get this house to NOT be a dilapidated mess, and the TV looks like shit in my kitchen. But noooo. I have no say apparently.  |

| I have mixed feelings about the entire movement. Philly didn't get the nasty publicity that NY did, but the people got out of hand. WAY out of hand. I am in Center City nearly every day, and out and about within City Hall. They got REALLY dirty and destroyed the place, but they were just plain mean. Right from the get go. And it pissed me off to no end, because I supported their idea. But I wasn't going to stop going in and out of work (Well, internship, but still.) just because I agreed with them. If anything, I used my position working alongside our State Rep to prove the case as much as humanly possible. And the thing is, our Rep is a really cool dude, and actually TRIED getting something done. He was the one that pushed for the porta potties and free food they would get while there...
But too many of them got nasty and just destroyed the place. I thought the idea was genius. And whether I agreed or not, in the beginning, I was still excited about it. It was a peaceful way for them to be heard, and before I really started paying attention to it, I went into it with the mindset that whether I agree or not, it was something to be learned from. It just ended up not being handled right and became more of a nuisance. There were tons of rape cases, as well as lots of other bullshit. I couldn't leave the office one day until security was able to escort me out. Everytime I walked out they would throw shit, and one bitch even came up and sucker punched me when I tried getting out to go home. That didn't end well for her, by the way. But still...I'm just pissed that a good thing has gotten ruined by most of them. Not all, but honestly? Most. And that's sad. |

| The St. Jude's Infomercial got me years ago. 30 bucks a month goes to them. And they're awesome. If I really don't have it that month, they're VERY easy to get a hold of, I explain the situation, and they don't take it out of the account. Nor do they remove me from their program, which is nice, because I get pictures and I have the calendar thing on my fridge. I dunno. It's just a reminder for me that there really ARE people who would need/appreciate it a lot more than I would, because I'm human. Sometimes it is difficult to donate. But there's soda in my fridge, so I always see the pictures there. And they get to me. They really do.
But they're my favorite to donate to. Especially since they work with me because I'm sorta kinda, and by sorta kinda, I mean definitely, dirt poor. I always try to make up for it though. If I can't donate 30 one month, I either do 60 the next, or slightly more than 30 each month that follows.
Otherwise, I DON'T have much to donate. Actually, I don't even have that 30. I just make it happen. But donating time is just as good. I've been able to religiously hop over to CHOP(Children's Hospital) right after I get out of my internship. Before then, my schedule was so sporadic that I couldn't guarantee the time, but when I could, I did it. It's actually a lot of fun. The kids are badass. |
