*Harry Potter if you haven't already seen it. Best one yet.

*9 (I'm personally excited for it.)

*Taking Woodstock (Demetri Martin in a starring role. Yes/Yes?)

*Moon (A sci-fi movie directed by David Bowie's son getting rave reviews. I smell awesome.)

*Inglourious Basterds (Tarantino movie. Always worth seeing, even if you don't like them.)

*Avatar (James Cameron one.)

*Sherlock Holmes (Robert Downey Jr. as Sherlock, Jude Law as Watson. Yippee!)



and of course, WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE. HOLY FUCKING SHIT IS IT GOING TO BE AMAZING OR WHAT.

I saw Moon. It's an AMAZING movie. It's the kind of cerebral science fiction art that fell victim to the massive growth of CGI-enhanced, super action-packed science fiction. While each is to be appreciated, movies like this are seriously a breath of fresh air.

It was pretty good. Not his best, but the style was astounding as usual. I got the feeling the story was tainted in the translation process as some plot points were seriously suger-coated over, but hey.

Also, all of Miyazaki's movies get celeb dubs. Mononoke had Billy Bob Thorton and Jada Pinkett Smith. Spirited Away had John Ratzenberger for god's sake.

Anyway, Miyazaki is one of my heroes. If he literally animated shit, I'd pay ten dollars to see it.

-Miyazaki.

-I'm really into Kafka and Hemingway. Also, been reading a lot of cinema and writing non-fiction books.

-In terms of video games, I'm obsessed with Oblivion, Herdy Gerdy and Chrono Cross (again).

-Psyched for the new season of Heroes. Been getting really into Firefly. Late, I know.

-Alright, music time.

I've been really into the Dear Hunter story, and their third album doesn't disappoint at all. Finally finished collecting The Decemberists discography, and have been enjoying TV on the Radio, Noah and the Whale, Micheal Jackson, and shuffling my library. That's basically what's new.

I appreciate the kudos everyone. I think of myself as a pretty good writer and I've been working off the forum on all kinds of stories.

Well, as my summer is beginning to dwindle, my activity's definitely going to pick up.

I'd say Ryan, Vulkar, and myself are your best bets at simbattling. Xeios, Kaijin, True, Clockworkz and a few others also simbattle but they're harder to get a hold of.

If there's interest I could start a simbattle tournament to kickstart the activity in here.

Ok, so let's see if we can do a simbattle tournament. Activity's trickling back in and I figure we can shoot for one good old fashioned simbattle tournament. No gimmicks, just a standard tournament.

It is said that beyond the mortal world there lie innumerable worlds beyond our comprehension, sealed from us by the most ancient of magicks. However, to those that rise above and beyond the mantle of mortality, who demonstrate the temperance and prowess of gods, these worlds are playgrounds. The worlds are clay in their hands, and their willpower alone can twist reality to fit their needs.

Our battle begins in one such world. Once a blank canvass, it has been shaped into a vast canyon overlooking a sea of black water. Ominous clouds roll in from the south, carving its path with the growl of thunder. Perched atop the cliffside stands a man, watching the water crash against the wall of stone. His complexion and features are similar to those of an Egyptians', tan and sharp, with closely cut black hair. Besides the loose grey pants and starched white bandages upon his hands and feet, he is unarmored and unarmed.

He silently awaits the coming of the night.

The bearded man turned and faced his challenger. A cool breeze blew about the two men, kicking up a fine layer of dust. The bandaged man curled his hand, and the dust swirled in cue, slowly at first. He outstretched his palm and the dust continued to gather above it, forming a small sphere.

"I've heard many things about you. Not much of it has been kind. All of it has been conflicting."

The sphere continued to grow, compacting until it essentially had formed a miniature planet. The rigid crust of the world flowed like water. In the blink of an eye, the sphere became a vibrant blue, wrapped with a thin coating of gases and clouds.

"I'm truly curious as to why you are here. Your intent is murder, of course, but your purpose is ambiguous. Something tells me that the answer is simple, that I am little more than the winner of some chaotic lottery, but to pretend this is the complete answer would belittle your insanity."

The man closed his hand, and his cerulean orb began to shatter. The water floated outwards, and the exosphere convulsed. After a few frenzied twitches, it exploded into dust and floated free, lost in the breeze.

"No matter the cause, I promise you I shall put up a fight. With all creation, there is destruction. With growth, harvest."

The Author, a servant of the force of Creation, steadied his footing.
