| I was really into it back in the days of the Rock and Stone Cold and such. Back when there was still the Hardy Boyz, Edge & Christian, when Triple H had the on-going drama with the McMahon family and D-Generation X were th scourges of the federation, when Mick Foley was Mankind who then became Cactus Jack and then became the wrestling commissioner, when Chyna was still the 9th wonder of the world and she was arm candy for (now dearly departed) Eddie Guerrero and others.
I'm truly sorry to see Chris Benoit go. I remember the days when he and Chris Jericho used to trash talk each other. The best one Y2J got on the Rabid Wolverine was saying that he had a midget-sized head on a normal-sized body, to which the camera spanned Benoit's body and sure enough it seemed he did have a small head compared to the rest of him. And that's how I always remembered him. It's amazing how quickly some of these men are disappearing. R.I.P. Chris. All I really have to say on the subject of "pro-wrestling" these days, in general, is so what if it's fake? It's entertaining and some of the story lines are better than most television these days, ESPECIALLY reality shows that are supposed to be a voyeuristic look into people's lives. Riiiiight. It's like going to Medieval Times or some staged joust or interactive play. It's fake, you cheer for your favorites, boo the "bad guys," and that's all there is to it. |

| Supposedly using things like Altoids and peppermints during oral have an effect on the receiver because the minty sensation tingles on the genitals.
That's probably why Trojan makes "Mint Tingle" condoms, which from what I remember don't actually work that way. Seriously, from what I've heard this is practically more urban myth than anything, though I heard stories about Pop Rocks.  |

| I think we've reached the pointed that if it's more than 4 years old it's "old skool."
Why 4 years? Because with every new cycle of high schoolers, the type of music that's popular changes and what the class before them liked is considered retro. Seriously, talk to a high school freshmen now about "what's good" and it's bands that you've never even heard of because you aren't listening to the radio any more. At least that's the way it is for me. So in short, things considered old: - Jennifer Lopez's singing career - Backstreet Boys, N*SYNC, and the whole boy band era of the late '90s (Joey's on "Dancing with the Stars" for crying out loud) - Will Smith's rap career - Ricky Martin and much of the Latin wave, including Enrique Iglesias and 98 Degrees (and any other half-assed music groups) trying to release Spanish-speaking albums because it was hot. - The sudden popularity of Carlos Santana (though he wasn't so popular in his hey-day) - Spice Girls, Mariah Carey, Shania Twain, Christina Aguilera, and the like. - Lou Bega, Shaggy, Tal Bachmen, Sisqo (and his "Thong Song"), etc - No Doubt, although Gwen's solo career would probably be considered old now too If you have said "Oh yeah!" or anything of the like to this list, YOU are old (at least to high schoolers these days).
But outside of music, things that make me sigh from the "old days" - Dharma and Greg - Xena: Warrior Princess, Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, The Adventures of Sinbad, Roar - Any of the cartoons I listed in the other thread in this forum - Disney (and other companies) actually putting out 2D animated features (Last edited by Rogue on 06-26-07 06:47 PM) |

Oh holy crap, yes! Going to a lot of conventions, people sell you things claiming they're marked down as a con special, but then you end up paying much more. It especially sucks when you buy bootleg, thinking it's the real thing (that's just out earlier), but when the movie/DVD/box set actually comes out it's cheaper.

While you'd expect this to be a nice refresher on life and history of tall ships, it's just another redundant love affair for Jacky Faber. Either way, I've been working my way through Ye Gods, though it's taken me a bit. It's one of those books that I only read on the train, but I'm three-quarters of the way through. It reads like a slightly lesser version of Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman writing a sequel to Good Omens using Greek mythology instead of Christianity, and all of the action just stops halfway through the book.
