| You know this is about like holding the sex talk back from children. It's that bad if you do that with kids these days. Honestly. Sometimes television makes it a bit more simpler to speak of such things. but please remember that some children are not raised on just tv alone. There's the parent who needs to do his or her job explaining about gayness, sex, drugs, and more.
What's more is TV has to appeal to everyone. You have the gay parent that gets mad over the issue of not putting homosexuality on children shows but on sit-coms. This issue shows that you have to raise your children yourself and keep a good open mind. That's what my view is. You can't always depend on television to do the job for you. |

| I was talking with a couple of people in high school for a small project (I was going to submit an editorial into the newspaper). This was at Barnes and Noble and I was surprised at how many high school students DIDN'T have the sex talk with their parents. One chick lost her virginity at 13 because she wasn't sure about what it was. It really surprised me. I asked four (2 male and 2 female) students the following questions:
When you were a kid did you approach your parents about sex? and if you did how did they react? (All names are blotted out on my papers for security purposes) Girl 1: My mother sort of blushed and smiled. She couldn't stop from acting all embarrassed. She tried to tell me but she couldn't. She said I learn in school. Boy 1: I tried to but my dad would change the subject. He would tell me to go to my mom, but I never went to her because I was too ashamed to ask a woman how it worked. Girl 2: My mother finds it a taboo to talk about it so I can't get it out from her. Boy 2: Dad told me about it but didn't explain everything about it. Are you a virgin? If not do you mind sharing when you lost it? Girl 1: I lost my virginity at 13. Girl 2: I'm still a virgin. Boy 1: Still a virgin Boy 2: Still got it. Where did you learn about sex? Girl 1: When I lost my virginity. I learned about it. Then I got more information from my school. Girl 2: I don't really know all about it. You can't depend on the school system to teach you about sex. Boy 1: I slept through my sex ed class. Boy 2: My dad taught me somethings and just like BOY 1 I slept through sex ed. Girl 1, would you mind listing a couple of the things you know about sex? Girl 1: I know about condoms, contraceptives, birth control, and positions. So you don't know about HIV, AIDS, Gonorea? Girl 1: I know a little about HIV. Okay how do you think you can get HIV? Girl 1: Just by sharing needles. Girl 2: You can get it through sex to. Boy 1: I thought it was just blood to blood contact. Boy 2: Me too. There are more questions. But if you need more proof I can put that up too. So what do you people think? When the kid asks the question the parent needs to go into detail then they'll think it's a boring conversation and go back to playing. Nagis your news article does not happen all the time. Infact that's one of the most rare of all cases and we can't really depend on news to tell us the positive side of sex talk. |

Alyssa picked up her journal and walked into the history class room sitting in the back. She watched the entire class with a content look. Alyssa's eyes sort of shifted to the ground every now and then. At the end of the class she began to walk out. "I'll be back, I need a Coke," she said leaving the bag with her journal in it in the class room. Alyssa walked to the snack machines and put a hand on her forehead. Where's Koan... she thought looking around. I bet he'd be sticking around here. She put a few coins in the machine and pressed the button for Sprite instead of Coca Cola. Alyssa shrugged and then walked away from the machines back into the class. She looked at Nina and shook her head. Alyssa closed her eyes and took a gasp. Alyssa's eyes went back to normal. "You've got something special too," she said. Alyssa only meant to do that as a comfort but she wound up seeing a vision. Alyssa nodded. "I know. I saw them in a vision, just like the one I had." Alyssa looked at Nina. She may need proof to be trusted. "You were at a sink, I'm not sure when because I didn't see a clock at the moment," then Alyssa looked right at Nina in the eye. "And the water flowed out of the sink. You put your hands under the water and the water seemed to go out of control." Alyssa looked at her hands. My sis was playing "Escape From Here" by Madina Lake when we were taking pictures. This is my favorite place in Columbus to get away from it all. I love this place so much that if I'm hurt you'd find me laying on the ground out at the river walk with a friend ranting about it.
