The best thing you can do is talk to him calmly about it, and watch his reaction. I doubt you have anything to worry about, but his reaction could be a clue on whether or not he really cares about what you wanted to do.

I don't really have a certain order to them. Sometimes, the simplistic exploration and combat of the first one is what I want. Other times, I may prefer the sidequests of Majora's Mask - excuse my poor wording in my previous post; I didn't dislike MM, but it's definitely my least favorite of the Zelda series. And that's a good thing, 'cause if that's my LEAST favorite, the whole damn series has to be good.

I, uh... I don't remember. I know I was reading a while before I started school, but I'm pretty sure my grandparents aren't smart enough to teach me how to read. Watching them belittle one of my cousins while they try to teach her comes to mind as a reason I think that. I know I learned how to read before I started living with my mother, but... Argh, damn this crappy memory!

I have a few chores. Now, whether or not I do them is another story...

Weeding every Saturday (not right now, though, because it's winter)
Vacuuming almost every day (three pets, so... yeah)
Putting dishes away
Taking trash out; two large trash cans go to the side of the road Sunday night and Wednesday night, and I bring the trash out to the big trash cans when the small one's full or has food in it.
Whatever other miscellaneous things I'm asked to do

The good news is that when I get a job, I won't have to do these. Except probably taking the trash to the road, since mom's got back problems and grandma's... well, she's grandma. Depends on if dad's home before I get a job or not.

That wasn't targeted at you specifically, Spartan. It was merely a question to everyone who's posted here. Honestly, I'm betting the people that would say they haven't played both for at least that amount of time aren't even going to reply.

And I've played both that much. At least a hundred hours in Morrowind (TES3), and at least 20 of Halo 2. Probably closer to 25 in Halo, but I'm not sure.

Well, my 'procrastination' is partly because of bad memory. I prefer to do things in the evening, but when I put it off until then I forget! And homework... ugh. If I didn't finish it at school, I just didn't do it. School was very stressful for me, you know the typical reasons for the smart, skinny people. So naturally, when I left school, I left every part of school behind. Including, half the time, leaving my homework on my desk. Yeah...

Ah, yes. Detail is very important. If your attack has a vague description, you leave too many possibilities for evading it. Of course, "detail" and "wordiness" are two things I'd often seen confused at the old Simbattle board... you had the detail people - me, Waddler-D, Maticolotto, Cyro, Hiei - and the "wordy" people - Zerodius, Gywall, assorted people whose names I can't be bothered to remember. In their wordiness, the latter group often left innumerable holes in their attacks, or simply descended into cheapness. Admittedly, I was really more on the border between the two, but I like to think I've improved.


But more important in my eyes?

Knowing your opponent. No matter how many different characters he/she has, he/she will have consistencies in his/her posts. If your opponent clearly has an eye for detail, then you need to pay attention to detail. If your opponent relies on elemental attacks, know how to guard against them. If your opponent uses multiple different characters, and clearly demonstrates their differences, he/she is likely to clearly display the weaknesses of his/her characters.

A basic reason for why it's important to know your opponent is that it's unwise to fight fire with fire, to use an old cliche. Every fighter has a weakness, even the balanced ones. And every fighter has a strength. One would not typically blast a demon with a Dark attack (excluding special cases), because that's an obvious strength. One would, however, attack a flame dragon with water or ice - that would be the logical and probable weakness.


Anyway, my two cents. I've not been an active simbattler since... well, ever, really; RPs are more my thing. But, I've watched, and I try to learn from others' mistakes and successes.

Disliking a game does not make it bad. I dislike most FPS games, but I won't deny that many are very well-made.

I don't have any candidates, though. I've been lucky enough to avoid all the really atrocious games.

More than anything, I want the game to be enjoyable and memorable. While sometimes I may want a deep, engrossing storyline and complex combat system, there will be just as many times where a simple, fun game is what I'm after.

The controls have to be responsive and either have a good layout, or support for custom button layouts.

Plot's not particularly important to me, in the grand scheme of things. While I do like some games with a complicated, well-thought out plot, at the same time I'm quite fond of some games with little or no plot at all.

As long as there's no severe graphics glitches, I don't particularly care about that area.

Music and sound have to be fitting for the game, and not grating on the nerves. Earthbound's music would have no place in a Final Fantasy game, but in EB it's perfect.

Replay value, in the traditional sense (unlockables, alternate storylines), doesn't matter to me. If the game's fun the first time through, I'll play through it again. If not, I don't care how many secrets or alternate storylines there are.

'Realism'. I don't mean photo-realistic graphics, I just mean things have to make sense given the world the game takes place in. If things don't make sense, then the game is less enjoyable to me.


Those aren't in any order at all, because they're all pieces of the whole. If a game is exceptional in one regard, I could forgive it for screwing up in another.
