While both are bad, I find cigarettes worse. With pot you don't really get much of an addiction. If you do get an addiction, it's an addiction to the feeling of being high, not the drug itself. Cigarettes on the other hand... well, I'm sure we've all dealt with what they have to offer in some way shape or form.

I'm going to go for pot being worse. MAinly because most people(not all neccesarily) smoke pot. Therefore, pot will include smoking and pot, where smoking doesn't neccesarily include pot.

Aside from that however, I'd have to say ciggarettes are worse alone than pot alone, but having never done either, it's hard for me to say.

In my opinion pot is worse.. ive had to sit and watch my parents do it for 18 yrs before i left the house.. now one of my best friends cant stop smoking.. he does it several times a day.. its kinda sad and depressing.. but pot opens up to other drugs alot more addicting then cigs will ever be, not to mention moe dangerous and expensive. If someone asked me if they should smoke pot or cigs id tell them cigs without ne hesitation.. god I hate drugs.. ;

Cigarettes hands down. Sure, I do not like pot; but at least pot can't give you multiple forms of cancer. Many members of my family have died because of smoking, so yeah.

Isn't the damage the same from pot and cigarettes? I've been taught that smoking one joint, or whatever, is like smoking one pack of cigaretts.

In my opinion, they both suck. I hate cigarettes. I can't breathe, they make everything smell like crap, they're just...**shudders** But...I don't like the smell of pot either, the smell and nausea that usually comes with it when I happen to go near the stuff. I can take a lot of things...nausea kicks my ass though.

I don't really care that other people do it to be honest. I mean, within reason. Caught my younger sister with a cigarette and kicked her ass. **shrugs** But that's another topic. There are just certain things that I don't think people should be doing until they're adults.

Other than that, just be respectful. Don't smoke pot or cigarettes around me and I won't hastle you.

Alright, from a standpoint in experience, Ill go ahead and explain the two in both standpoints of "Bad".

CIgarettes include Nicotine. Duh. The chemical that is not only addicting, but it includes tar which can lead to cancer. However the Secondhand smoke is far worse than smoking an actual cigarette.

Pot has THC, which is the chemical used to get high. Though it DOES NOT cause cancer, the THC can easily damage brain cells. You cant get an overdose unless you smoke twice your body weight in one hour. Smoking pot in the long run of about 20 or more years causes extreme paranoia...That is if you smoke it heavily, the damage done to your brain cells can rejuvinate within 3 days after consumption.

CHEMESTRY CLASS! What is THC? Its a fat. And what can Kill fat? Anything acidetic like Orange juice. So if you want to heal your body from consumption of pot, Just drink a couple of glasses of anything citric.

Cigarettes are worse Hands down.

First off, neurons do not grow back. Once they're dead, they aren't coming back, hence why there's a push for stem cell research for people who've lost a severe amount of irreplaceable cells to diseases, cancer, and such and why it's best to try and teach babies things no matter how young they are (as their brains are so high in cell numbers).

I have no real professional opinion on this one as I really don't know which truly is worse, though I can agree that more diseases and cancers are the result of cigarette smoking.

I've had friends try to convince me to smoke with them because anything negative said about weed is just a conspiracy started by the government in some way. One of them even gave me a pamphlet he printed off the Internet (for God knows where) about the government illegalizing it to give a reason for arresting and deporting Mexicans.

I don't know how true these statements are but I've never been pushed so hard to smoke cigarettes as I have been to smoke weed. I've found that those who do push are those who want to validate their behavior because they don't want to feel weird like the odd man out and it makes them feel less guilty for what they're doing. Not to say that all pot smokers are like this, but I've come across many.

What's more these friends are also the ones who say there isn't anything addictive about weed, but can't seem to quit or even function without it (much like the smokers who say they can quit any time). I have heard from doctors that after 10 years on weed, the high tends to kick off and so many people do quit because it isn't doing anything for them anymore. However, a few friends of mine have been on it for well past 10 years, but still can't seem to go without for longer than 2 hours.

Same goes for the cigarette smokers, of course. I do also have friends who, whenever they get the chance or are outside, MUST light up. They go through multiple packs a day. Good grief, and one of these friends was on a medication that was making her sick when she smoked, so what does she do? She quits taking the medication.

Also in regards to the statement about weed really starting to cause mental problems after heavily smoking for 20 years, this is true, but I'll add that it doesn't necessarily take that long. I've known people who've been moderately smoking for 5 years and seem to have gone permanently retarded, literally. But in converse of this, I do know those who've been going for years and seem perfectly fine. There are some definite behavioral patterns I've seen in those who've gone a long time: things ranging from being slower in getting things done to being moody when they've gone without smoking for a few hours (This can also apply to cigarette smokers. DEFINITELY).

Again, I have no professional opinion on this one, but I've seen a pretty wide spectrum. In the end, the worst I've ever seen a person smoking weed come down to are lower job expectations and slower in thinking, reaction times, speech, and work, whereas cigarette smokers open themselves up to lung cancer, heart disease, having to spend the rest of their lives with a hole in your neck and talking through a machine, among other innumerable problems.

In conclusion, chemical dependency sucks.

Hmmm...these people that you have seen...are they among many different age groups? Are the people who are the worst the people who either started really young or are still really young and doing it? Well, the "it" being cigaretts or pot.

You kinda nailed why I have pretty strong stances on a person not doing certain things while really young. I mean, in my opinion, I think it's all bad, which is why I personally don't do it, but I'm not going to hastle anyone about their own habits as long as they're respectful with them...and they aren't 10 years old. >.o

When your body isn't developed fully and when you ruin the things that are still developing, it screws one up forever. I don't really have anything to support that with the exception that doctors have told me that directly and I believe it. I haven't seen anything to disprove them yet.

Actually some types of brain cells do grow back, just extremely slowly. The rate of degeneration would be larger than the rate of it growing. Smoking or doing drugs isn't worth it.

Now, jsut a bit of food for thought, should drugs be illegal? If it were legal, the drug dealers wouldn't make nearly as much money off the suffering of others, and children growing up in that sort of enviroment wouldn't see the drug dealers as the rich people who were smart. It could really help people if it were merely government controlled.

Of course, it is a given that then a lot more people would take drugs. Certain people now are barred from taking drugs only because it is illegal, rather than because it is wrong, and will damage their health. But then, do we need peole like that in todays society? Legalizing drugs could help with overpopulation!

The most dedicated pot smokers I know are over 30. A 46-year-old friend of mine has been smoking off and on since she was 13. While she's pretty smart, she is often very slow in thinking and gets VERY moody when she hasn't had her fix in a while. A couple I know, both over 30, often have to hot box in their truck when we're out somewhere to pump themselves up for shows they do. They just have to be high sometimes, but both of them are sharp as tacks and really cool people. Again with the moodiness when they haven't smoked out in a while.

The more "smoked themselves retarded" pot smokers I know tend to be in their early 20s. Believe you me, were you to meet them you would think they were dropped on their heads as children while being force-fed lead.

As for cigarette smokers, I used to hang out at the Rocky Horror Picture Show and EVERYONE smoked--30-somethings would be bumming smokes off 12-year-olds. It was pretty crazy.

Hell, if I may, I'd like to add alcohol to the list. I swear, after having been to so many parties where under-aged drinking actually turned scary and the cops needed to be called on people who went insane after polishing off a whole bottle of Bacardi 151, it's a wonder the stuff is even legal. Not pushing temperance or anything (God no!!), I enjoy the occasional drink myself, but it's when people drink to excess that the stuff turns demonic.

People like what? So those thrust into an extremely difficult situation that they cannot pull themselves out of are bad people? We all faulter, so what makes people who faulter by caving under the peer pressure to smoke or drink worse than those who faulter under other pressures? I see what you mean. There are some people who do that stuff who truly are bad people...but if a person is a bad person, then they have it in them no matter what they do. I agree with doing something about the "bad" people, maybe not a mass killing spree, but something to help them and/or the situations...Also, overpopulation is far from being a global issue. Yes, there are some places that are extremely populated, but there are also other places that are underpopulated, Japan being one of them (Last I had to look up statistics, which was only a few weeks ago).

Exactly. I don't drink. (Well...had one mishap, but that's another story that I'm pretty ashamed of) However, once I'm 21, I don't think I'll have a problem with the "occasional" drink. Just not in excess. Personally, I don't think it's fun not being in control. I'm just too much of a control freak I guess, but that's one of the reasons why I personally stray from that stuff.

Smoking = uber addiction. Pot = getting high. Drinking = well, you get drunk and lose control that way. There are also other reasons why I am turned off from cigaretts, pot, and other drugs. However, drinking, so long as it's done right, I'm not so rough on anymore. But at 18, believe it or not, my body still needs some time to develop a little, so...drinking is a bit of a no-no at the moment.

I vote for Pot. I hate it.

While cigarettes are bad for your health, people are aware about it, and they are (usually) old enough to know the consequences and stop it if they really want to.

While people can get grumpy without a cig, it doesn't change their mood like pot does. I've had close encounters with both through family, and I can tell you that even though it pains me to see my father in such bad health because of cigs, they're not nearly as damaging as it was when my mom smoked pot.

People think pot is fine and it doesn't hurt anyone: well they fucking suck.
