ok. I flipped 6 coins, heads was death, tails was life. I got five tails and one head.

Derek is dead. The operation procedure didn't bond properly to his central nervous
system. His nerve impulses got screwed up and his lungs stopped working, then
his heart. There was nothing the doctors could do.

Marin, nearly died. The operation was touch and go much of the time and more
time was spent on keeping her alive than actually incorporating the crystles into
her system. Because of this the acclimation is not always as strong as it should, be making for a Shard more interested in actual physical strength and power.

(Elara, send me a PM to discuss the particulars of what that means to your
character.)

To the survivors, all five of you. Five years have past, you're 20 years old and once
again find yourselves in the old conference room facing your beautiful drill sergeant
and her hulking body gaurd. You have in the last five years discovered that her
name is Merith. She's been tough on all of you, pushing you to your physical and
mental limits every day since you'd first met.

"Alright children listen up," she barks at you, glaring along the length of the table
at the five of you. "You've finally finished training in using and amplifying your own
bio energy with the crystles. This squad, it has been decided, shall stay together,
despite most squads being only 4 members."

"Usually you all have a choice between, sniper, tank, intelligence operative
and scout. Since there are five of you however we're going to add a second scout
onto this squad I think, you're going to be doing a lot more infiltration type of
missions than any other squad."

"Your training begins tomorrow."

ooc: Please send me a PM on which position you'd like, Intelligence has already been set aside so your choices are Tank, Sniper, Scout or Scout. It will be first
come first serve on who get's which position.

"Scout, it's what I've been training for. *she smiled slightly* Glad to see you're not splitting us up."

Keel was amazed and overjoyed to learn his position of sniper. In the past he'd worked very hard at managing his ability to focus, he'd sometimes shut his eyes tight and feel the crystals' energy matched with his own, he'd concentrate so hard that he felt he could push that energy through just about anything.
He looked at his comrades wondering what each of them was pondering. He'd felt alone throughout the last five years, not speaking much to anyone, but he did wish to know the other shards, to know what they thought about this so called destiny that was thrown upon them. He often questioned why he was a shard.

Gaius smirked when he learned he would be the teams tank, he thought himself most qualified to be the teams backbone after what they have been threw, and figured that he'd be able to keep them together though any pressing matters.

John expected as much. The five years of physical and tactical (not tactics though) training the other shards recieved was pretty much lost on John....he could do calculus in his head while playing a violin solo, while "reading" one of his braille novels with his toe, while carriying on a semi coherent conversation about pancake mix ,all the while, listening and comprehending all the many many many things his sensors were playing in his head....and smoking. But he still couldnt see, so tripping over a cat and breaking his skull open is still a very real problem in a tactical situation......with cats...insofar as his sonar was now so powerful he could no longer order everything spatialy, except far away. Information Officer....go figure

*Marin smiled as she learned she got her request. Scouts didn't depend on weapons as much, so it didn't matter at her handicap. She had trained in stealth and infiltration anyway... a result of reading far too many spy novels as a kid. She was just surprised that such a big guy as Donovan was the other scout... but then again, he could be just as sneaky, even if he was stronger than her*

Scout, he knew someone had to do it. So Donavan couldn't complain. Besides, he was still strong enough to break almost anyone, and large enough to act as a mount for large heavy weapons. Add in the ability to move around as quiet as a shadow, and you have a heavy weapon that is hard to track, much less pin down to eliminate.

Also with his size and strength, the added quickness of being a scout would make him that much more dangerous in close quarter, and hand to hand combat.

All in all, it promises to be interesting.

*She looked at the others and smiled*

"Well, since we seem to have a big day tomorrow, I suppose I shall be off to prepare. Farewell, gentlemen."

*She wandered off to her room, which was sparsly decorated so that she had room to practice her excercises. She had a feeling that the next few years of training were not going to be easy*

Merith nodded to Marin as she got up to leave the table, but a moment later a
small red light at her wrist began to blink silently. Merith frowned and lifted her
sleeve to her mouth. "Report, what triggered the perimeter alarm?"

She listened to something the rest couldn't hear, John did however catch small bits
and pieces through his computer network.

"Come again," she said, "What's going on?

She listened again then snapped her attention to the squad.

"Marin and Donavan, head for sector two level three. John, hit the ether net and
see what you can find I want the surveillance for sectors 1, 2, and 3 as well as the
armory and command center and I want it 90 seconds ago."

"Gaius follow behind Marin and Donavan and bunker down between sections 3
and 2. Hold the entry point, let no one past you. Keel, you'll set up half way down
the corridor from Gaius to run interference."

She frowned at you all.

"MOVE PEOPLE."

EDIT: Sorry, I forgot to mention that in front of each of you at the table there is a
case with your name written on it. This case contains your gear and any
specialized equipment necessary for your particular squad position. All equipment
will be described at a later post.

Keel eyed Gaius before he grabbed his case and ran to his position. The weight of the case was extreme and awkward to run with. The three of four mile run was difficult during training but this was nuts. He glanced over his shoulder constantly to see if how far Gaius was behind him.

Sector 4, where the conference room was, is the smallest and shortest of the buildings. As he continues to run through it to Sector 3 which is taller and extends more underground, his arms began to feel heavy, but not unbearably because of his extensive training. He invisioned one occasion where he did have to make the run from Sector 4 to Sector 1 and felt himself not discouraged by his current feat. He made his way quickly through Sector 3 and on to Sector 2 which was again higher and extended more underground. Keel immediately took the stairs since all elevetor facilities had been shut down, he ran down the three levels. He'd estimate each level to be about 3 or 4 floors. Once finally reaching his post he wiped the sweat from his brow and opened his case. Keel said to himself, "What the hell is in this thing!"

Quick rundown. The complex you've lived in for the last several years consists
of 4 main sectors. Secot r 4 is open to the public and is basically the equivalent
of a police station. It is also the location of the main recruitment center.

Sector 4 is about 5 stories high and extends roughly 6 to 7 stories underground.

Sector's 4 and 3 are connected by a half a mile long corridor. There are only the
two doors at either end separating them, no other entry into sector 3 is possible.
Sector three is more secure, not open to the public and much larger than sector
4. It is about ten stories above ground and roughly 17-20 below ground consisting
of four underground levels.

Sector two is also connected by one corridor and is even larger than sector 3. 30
stories above ground and about 45 under, it is in and of itself a massive laboratory
complex with miles of corridors within it. Heading down to level three would mean covering 30 floors of stairs. Level three is the most top secret R&D lab in all of
the Shard complex.

Sector one is more difficult to get to and is the command center. None of you have ever stepped foot within Sector 1 and you have little to no idea of it's structure,
design, or what goes on there.

*Marin wheeled around, grabbing her case and vanished down the corridor to sector 2, she wondered what was going on there. Silent as a gentle breeze she made her way down corridor after corridor, evading all who were scurrying about until she could get to a secluded room halfway to her destination. Once inside the small room she opened her case to see what was inside*

"Hmn, these should prove useful*

*She pulled out her new equipment: two curved daggers, a sword, and a pistol. Along with them were sheaths that belted to her thighs for the daggers, a hip holster for her pistol, and a sword belt to go across her back. Seems that they kept her handicap in mind by keeping the firearms to a minimum. Smiling she equipped her gear, leaving the case behind, and continued to the R&D lab*

Gaius quick grabbed his case, to most people it would seem very heavy and hard to run with, but with all the training he had been doing it was as if he was running naturally with no extra weight. He quickly headed behind Marin,Keel, and Donavan as he follwed them down towards sectors 3 and 4 when he came to the entry point he looked over to see if keel was set up half ways from him. He then slammed his case onto the ground popping the latches to see what was inside.

Come on baby, papa needs a new pair of shoes.

Gaius open the case revealing one assault rifle, one mini gun and backpack, and a variety of explosives. He quickly waited for keel to set up as he began to find loose objects he could use for cover building a wall for cover to guard the entry point. He place the case of explosives beside him and his mini gun/backpack off to his right as he turned the safety off on his assault rifle as a automatic targeting scope appeared before his eye as he waited patiently for any contact that may be made.

Hope your ready baby

Donavan opened his case before he left. And grimaced at what he saw. But he knew he shouldn't have hoped for much else. He quickly adjusts, and dons the holsters and places two curved daggers in shoulder holsters, and tightened them down snugly to his chest. A belt goes around his waist and he places the large handgun to the small of his back. "At least this is a decent size" Adjusting the sword belt he settles it so that the handle over his right shoulder.

Geared up he rushes out the door, and for sector two. As he runs, Donavan reaches back with his right hand he clicked the toggle the charge his gun, and link with his Shard system.

Despite his size he runs as swiftly and as silently as a shadow. Soon catching up with Marin just as she is finishing gearing up herself. He runs the rest of the way with her, weaving through the other people in the hall without losing his stride.

*Marin nodded at Donovan as the moved down the hall and whispered quietly*

"I'm surprised they didn't give you the medium range kit with your skills, you should check into that after this. Any idea what's going on?"

Matching his stride with hers he shrugs. "Intruders, maybe an attack. All I know is that we are getting sent to sector two, and I have a feeling that there maybe hostile targets. But until we get the order, I think we should be quiet and keep our eyes open. It could be a drill, or a mistake."

"With my kind of skills?" He asks with a soft laugh as he sidesteps around a much slower researcher. "I can do much more not loaded down, but I would rather have the rifle than the sword. But we get what we get. Besides, I bet I can bag more than you with the short blades." He says shooting her a mischievous smile as he spins around another straggler.

Donavan quickly moves to flank the bend in the corridor. "We need to go down" he says in a horse whisper. Pointing down at the same time. "Down to level 3." He says and starts down the hall. Coming to the stairwell door he opens it and looks down. Seeing nothing yet he starts down the steps half running, half jumping from landing to landing. All as silent as a shadow.

Merith turned and glared at John as the rest of the squad bolted out of the
conference room. "Where's my surveilance John?" she snapped.

Lifting her wrist to her mouth she spoke into the mike hidden there again. "Marin
and Donavan, be careful, you don't know what's out there right now."

"Gaius and Keel are already in position. Hurry up, and be careful."

The hallways of level three are quiet and completely empty. White sterile floors
and flourescent lights give the whole place a washed out look. The only thing
that doesn't look right in the facility is the large cloud of dust and smoke at the
far end of the main corridor, towards the R&D labs.
