If you haven't seen the animated short "Here Comes Dr. Tran," I suggest you look it up on YouTube or any other hosting site. It's pretty well-known and therefore easy to find.

Anyway, this new Will Ferrell movie is supposed to be about a man's mundane life that suddenly gains a narrator that only he can hear. Coincidence?

There isn't much information out on it yet. At the moment it's just joking speculation.

That was pretty funny. I don't think Will Ferrel is neccesarily ripping it off, so much as using the general concept. In the will Ferrel movie, it that author and shit. And she's trying to kill him. That's pretty funny.

See, but the only Dr. Tran you know is this one. If you've seen the new stuff, you'd understand that he just has this announcer that follows him around all the time. Dr. Tran, not Ferrell.

Either way, if there's a scene where Will is suddenly wearing a 10-gallon hat and the narrator shouts, "Cowboy hat!" and Will looks up and shrieks, I am so breaking a kneecap. I don't care whose it is, but it's getting shattered.

That's the thing, though. You can't copyright an idea. That would be like copyrighting a word, although that seems to happening a lot these days.

But no, from what I learned from editing magazines and so on, ideas are "stealable." Example: You can take a certain font that someone uses in a publication or a storyline twist that someone uses in a movie. These are all out in the open.

It's just it would be rather annoying if these things were actually taken from Dr. Tran.
