| "Close your eyes," he touched her lips, his voice sensuous and soothing.
"But," she started, but was denied. He leaned in towards her ear, resting his hand on her back, "Trust me." The reeds rustled gently in the warm breeze sweeping around their legs. He craddled her body is his strong arms and walked towards a lone tree in the middle of the field. The sun's warmth bathed across their bodies, sweet scents of spring permeating their lungs. He set her down in a bed of rose petals, delicately placed on a silk sheet in a small clearing amongst the tall reeds. She reached underneath her, and felt each petal around her slide through her fingers. A soft tune played in the distance. "Can I?", she mumbled, but he placed his finger over her mouth indicating that she couldn't. She heard his footsteps walking away from her, through the reeds. The sudden chill of the shade provided by the tree caused her to shudder, the heavenly relaxing music increasing in the distance. Violins and a piano embellishing a simple melody, echoing over the rocks of the nearby sea and flowing through the stalks of the reeds. "Hun?" she called out, but heard no answer. She sat for a moment, then opened her eyes. He was nowhere to be found. In front of her lay a neatly folded note, sealed with a bit of wax and a rose petal. She picked it up, and opened it carefully. "I'm sorry, but it had to be done." The music abruptly ended, shattered by the sound of a loud gunshot. She sprang to her feet, dropping the note, and ran towards the sound. Laying on the beach, sprawled out just at the water's edge, her lover rested in a soft pool of his own blood. Nearby, a gun rested in the water. She fell to her knees. "Why?" He appeared behind her, in an ethereal glow of green, "I wanted us to be together forever," and with one swift motion, extracted her living soul from her body. She fell, lifeless, down the cliffside to the beach below, landing next to her lover. Their hands almost seemingly intertwined as the water lapped up onto them. She turned to face his incorporeal body, a tear rolling down her cheek. Emotion overcame her as she fell into his arms. "Thank you." |

| That is... twisted. You convey the sweet and romantic idea very well until that part with the gunshot and then the reader joins the girl in the feeling of confusion. The ending does seem a bit odd though... she isn't mad at all or anything, not even for a second... perhaps I'm just too used to most women. | |||
