I just saw Edguy. Wow.

More comments when I get some sleep (will also comment on Gamma Ray/Helloween from a few weeks ago)

I went to a small concert the other night. The first group sucked (local kids screaming and wailing on their guitars), the second group was alright (kinda like an evolved version of the first group) but the third group, Antagonist, was freaking badass!

They're from California and have been coming to our local Musichead for a while now and this was the first time I heard them. I can't wait for them to come back now! $5 concerts for the win!

Oh, and linky.

i went to see the metallica concert here. it was awesome. the sword was the first opening. i hadn't heard of them prior to the concert but they rock. they're into singing about norse mythology, but that just makes them that much more awesome. then Machine Head came on after them. amazing amazing band. needless to say, metallica was brilliant. my neck was in pain for the rest of the night and all of the next day. they ended the concert with Seek and Destroy, with the audience singing the "Searching.....Seek and Destroy" part, naturally.

I've been listening to a lot of classic stuff lately, namely Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath. I've honestly never went out of my way to give them a listen and I'm starting to wish I had gotten into them earlier!

You like Running Wild? They're not quite as old school (moreso 80/90's), but still amazingly consistent traditional/power metal stuff. Literally like their first 8-10 albums are amazing!

A bit more Priest-esque than Maiden or Sabbath, topped off with pirate themes.

Been a fan for several years, I never tire of them.

I'm also in need of more Viking metal! I'm a huge fan of Manowar (just on the newer albums, viking-wise, their older stuff I still play LOUDER THAN HELL!), and have heard some Ensiferum over the years but who else would you recommend?

Sacred Oath is pretty amazing. I prefer the original "A Crystal Vision" the most though.

I'm digging Cauldron Born a lot lately, something you might dig! Took me awhile to warm up to the first album, but it's pretty fucking crazy once it sinks in.

The second album is a bit more straightforward and more accessible, still amazing in my book though.

Myspace if you want more samples. Check out "The Sword's Lament" definitely one of my favorites from the debut (that intro kills!) and "Dragon Thorne" is one of my favorites from the second album.

Niiiiiiice, are you also familiar with my all time favorite album?

AMPLE DESTRUCTION! Hehe.

It got me obsessed with all this 80's US power metal stuff.

Another favorite of mine, Omen! Their first three albums are gold.

Perhaps my second favorite metal album...
(as usual youtube quality is pretty shitty on this one though)

But that's probably their simplest song. The whole album is completely out there, it's like Traditional/Doom/Power. Or just epic as hell. Beyond the Grave shows off more of their epicness. Can't say I've yet to come across more albums with "background shrieking", that's just awesome. Love the vocalist.

Okay I'll try to refrain myself next time.

Have you guys checked out Van Canto yet? I think I had a thread about them alone awhile back but it's pretty far down now. A capella metal, all I am saying.

Oh, and I've become obsessed with Kamelot and Rhapsody of Fire again.
