There's a video on there with a recording of the message. It does indeed sound like the book is saying what parents think it is. | Not to turn this into a dark discussion for Debate, but one of the leading reasons for child abuse are parents' frustatrations with their child not being potty-trained yet.
Really puts that whole "Who wants to die?" thing into perspective. Otherwise upon hearing that soundbyte on the news made me laugh my ass off. |

| That's very true, Rogue. My stepbrother for four years was severely abused by his mother. In court they came to the conclusion that she was frustrated with him not being potty-trained.
On another note, I was a huge sesame street nut when I was little and I can only imagine the trauma of hearing my favorite read fuzzy face asking me if I wanted to die. 0_0 |

| I heard about this at work, and wasn't sure about the validity of the allegation until I listened to the sound clip posted here. I think it sounds pretty convincing -- although, I'm thinking the makers will somehow say it only "sounds like" he's saying that, but actually saying something similar. | |||
