I went and saw it last night, and it blew me away. I was expecting some mediorce moive, since the rock was in it.

But after a while you stoped caring he was the rock, and the whole movie was presented awesome. If you never followed any of the Doom games, or RE games this movie explains what going on enough that you understand it.

Go see it!

I was going to make this thread last night but was to lazy.

I second his opinion. For one I thought the whole movie was in first person. It's not. There's a small first person part and its done very well. The dialogue isn't anything special.....but its an action movie with the Rock in it....

It felt like I was watching a Resident Evil movie.....only a decent one. (I liked the first RE though....)

I have to agree with you both.. but I have to say that I liked it better than the first RE movie in a whole... I have to agree that the dialogue could have been better...

I just liked the movie and that's about it.. I think that just about any movie that has the rock is pretty good.. but that's my opinion.

Same thing you said spy I thought it was going to be mediocre because of the rock but it was really cool. I still think they ripped the whole super human thing off Resident Evil: Apocalyse.

Yea, it seemed like it.. but the thing is RE:Apocalypse in my opinion just sucked.... I liked the little twist in the end between Sarge and Reaper.. that just made the movie better...

I loved this movie. It is on my top list of Favorite Alltime Movies now. (Basically, Inuyasha movie 3, Advent Children, and now Doom. lol.)

I was also afraid of this movie, since all the Movie converted Games just sucked ass. (RE 1 was decent... until Apocolypse came out, and destroyed it.)
Anyone see House of the Dead movie? Ouch.
Spirits Within was a bust for FF standards. (good movie, but not FF.)

And a few misc. little things that I'm forgetting as prime examples of suckage.

Doom felt Unique. It acctually improved from the original doom. A few minutes into the movie, I even said "Their missing the original Doom outfit..." then after the action started (not 20 min into the move, awsome action timing there.) I realized they didn't need that old Painball looking gear. The Swat gear was just freakin Sweet.

I thought the concept behind a Virus, instead of Hellspawn, would be a lame idea, but that put twists into the movie I never thought possible, and puts a whole new prospective behind the original doom games.

Also, regarding the First Person moment they have in there... BAD FREAKIN ASS! It was timed perfectly. The action in it, the length, when it was put it. A+++ grade worth of footage there.

Alos, regarding the Super Human part that was mentioned earlier in that thread. (Should have been in a spoiler.) Its not Uber Superman type of Super human. it was just the Slightly Enhanced type.

It was just right, and fit perfectly.

Apololyps's Super Human was just pathetic ; Over powered, too strong, too fast... just too uber. But doom's version is just right.

Being a long time Doomer and still Dooming today, I was disappointed in Doom. They fucked up the storyline big time. The imps and hell knights did not throw balls of fire or plasma. The movie was too short for being a video game movie. Also, there was only four monsters from Doom which were zombies, imps, pinky demon (only one), and hell knights. It would have been a better movie if they had added Cacodemons, Lost Souls, Revenants and of course either the Cyberdemon or Spider-Mastermind.

On the positive side of things, Doom has a lot of action in it. I must say I did not expect The Rock to do a good job as a violent asshole, but he did. If you have not seen it, I'd say way until the DVD comes out, its not worth the $8.

I give Doom a 6 of 10 rating only because of the hardcore action it did have, but disappointed in the storyline fuck up and few monsters.

I think they catered more to the non-gamer audience in this one. (Like the first Resident Evil, Mortal Kombat, and Tomb Raider.)

It would have gotten a lot more slack if it were any longer and had more gamer related items. (I didn't really get the significance of the BMG. From the hoots and hollers that it got in the movie theatre, i'm assuming its the best gun in the series?)

It is actually the BFG. It got such a hoot and hollers because it is the best gun in the game and nobody knew what BFG stood for until this movie.

I'm kind of in agreement with High Flyin' Ryan here. Even though none of the Doom games have "that" much of a storyline, the storyline to Doom 3 was much cooler than this.

I'm surprised this movie had absolutely nothing about Hell in it, just kind of funny if you ask me.

It was a pretty retarded and lame movie, but enjoyable and nothing I would have walked out on. Still, most of the scenes and things in the movie that seemed to try to be serious, were just funny.

I'd give it a 6 out of 10 also.

Mortal Kombat was a better videogame movie, in my opinion.

Shuyin: Yeah, the BFG (isn't it the BFG9000 in the games?) is just that "one" weapon in all of the Doom games that makes you shiver when you get it. So, it's just kind of special. But, it was pretty cheesy how the Rock went back, and how he got it.

Edit: Darknight, not sure if you meant it's "Bio Force Gun" name, but, ever since I've played the original game, everyone I know called it the "Big Fucking Gun".

Well that's still considered, by most, the best video game movie to date.

True, but man was Annihilation horrible.
(in my opinion. I still think it's hilarious how Johny Cage dies 5 minutes into it)

I concur. Did you know IMBD shows that there will be a third movie?

I'm not sure which I prefer more....Doom or The Super Mario Bros. movie. XD

I saw nothing wrong with the Mario Bros movie myself. The only thing I wish it had was Fire Flowers, other than that it was NOT a bad movie.

At the very end he kinda went to his "game" state. he was more a T-Rex though, and it was for only like, what, a couple seconds?

As for Doom, all of those who have played the games and the majority of youth say it rockzorz. The Critics mostly don't like it. But they just saw it as a movie. Didn't let the Doom games accuracies and such get in their way.

Well, I watched my friend play the original Doom games when I was in Kindergarden, and since then I've been a fan ... but I really didn't like this movie.

But, that's me.
