I dunno; I kinda liked the voices in Wolf's Rain. I felt they were fitting, albeit, I've heard the actors (many times) before. I don't really care. If I feel like reading instead of watching, I'll go subs.

Inuyasha's voice is perfectly fine... there is nothing wrong with his voice... Irritating... no... Convincing... Yes... He makes the character a little more of a punk... there's nothing wrong with that... some people always thought he should be a little more punk... and as much as you think you know about how good something is... think about this... The people who are making these anime's are trying to make money... the best way for them to make money is to make it the best they can... and as many people watch anime... and dubbed at that... it can't be that bad... and there fore... I believe that the myth of bad dubbing should be put to rest...

Someone is being a bit naive. It's not only my personal opinion, its an overall judgement. Just like everyone says the movie Gigli is bad. I'm sure there are people that like it, but it doesn't make it a good movie.

Just how you like the dub doesn't make it a good dub. You're putting way to much faith in the dubbing industry. I don't think its that you haven't heard bad dubs, its that you don't accept that they're bad.

Yeah, someone is being a bit naive, but in this case, it's not Jexim...

Now, you say that just because some people may like it doesn't make it good... But that also means that just because people like you think it's bad, that doesn't actually make it bad...

At least that's what you're saying, is it not?

Now tell me, who's truly being naive here?

I suggest you stop trying to be witty, it doesn't work for you. You're obviously quite naive if you believe that a company won't put out a bad dub just because their putting money into it and going at it with 'the best of their ability.'

I'm not saying that your opinion is necessarily wrong, because an opinion isn't a fact and everyone is entitled to their own. However, an opinion doesn't change the content. Ever hear of a bad cd or a bad show? That's because their content sucks, but some people still may like it.

Really, I'm on Shuyin's side on this.

An even better example of bad dubs? Videogames.
Look at games like Star Ocean 3, Xenosaga Ep. II (seriously, am I the only one out there that though the first one had fine dubbing, but the 2nd one was horrible?), and plenty of other videogames out there (especially anime-based ones, like Growlancer. Ugh)

Seriously, if you think the voices in those games are "Great", then wow ...

Like Shuyin, I'm not saying the games themselves are bad, but there are plenty of bad dubs out there, and for some people out there including myself, a bad dub can really ruin the experience.

Star Ocean 3 - I hated the pauses between the conversations. I remember watching my friend play once, and some character was dying, but after every sentence (this is even with my friend pushing X to continue on and such) there was a pause in the voices, and it just seemed to horribly ruin the moment.

Xenosaga Ep II - What happened here? The first one had great dubbing, but the 2nd one seriously seemed to lose a sense of emotion. Jin was one of the voices I hated the most, his voice sounded nearly exactly the same no matter what the situation was, and I hate it when voices are like that.

Yeah, just a few examples, but seriously, we're just saying that there truly are bad dubs out there, is it so bad to say that?

Even though I'm a fan of Subs, I'm really not being biased here. Hell, there's probably plenty of bad Japanese voice overs out there, it's just that there truly seems to be a large amount of bad dubbings out there with the English cast in anime, and videogames, and it can really ruin the experience.

I'm on your side Shuyin, you say that opinion is not fact, I agree...

When you call something a bad CD or bad show, that is simply what the majority of opinions say... But if opinions are not fact, then nothing, in fact, is bad and nothing is good... Everything is simply what you make it.

What I'm saying is that you are entitled to your opinion... I'm just bothered by the fact that you say it IS bad, when that is merely opinion... And because as you said, opinion is not fact, nothing IS truly bad nor is anything truly good.

And stop trying to dispute my wit, it doesn't work for you.

inu yasha's voice, and there's tons of fangirls out there who'll back it up, is great. it works for him. i've heard the japanese voice, and it's horrible. he screeches, and all that, BUT before you get mad, read on.

to me, it's not really about dubs or original voices. it's all about the FIRST TIME. i mean, i dunno what's up. if i watch the japanese first, i'll dislike the english. if i watch the english first, i'll dislike the japanese voice. simple as that! i think secretly, most people are like that too, but dont realize it.

Yeah, I'm like that too, which is the reason I usually prefer the English dubbing...

I saw it first, so that's the one I'm used to, and I agree with you on Inuyasha's Japanese voice, it sucks ass.

Oh, you get used to his Japanese voice. Later you see that it pwns alot.

Then you don't want to go back to english (because his jap voice fits his character more).

Can anybody name the English voice actor for Inuyasha???

I can, it's Richard Ian Cox... I think he was also an extra in Gundam Seed...

Anyway, yeah, I should probably just watch the Japanese more so I can get used to his voice.

Yeah, I remember looking him up on there before...

But, I'll bet you hadn't known that prior to my posting it and you looking it up.

Wait, isn't this thread about dubbing in general and not just about Inuyasha?

Well, with that revelation, I will now say... The English dubbing for Princess Mononoke really annoyed me, I believe Billy Bob Thornton was in it, although I did like the voice of the wolf... But... Billy Bob Thornton... *shivers*

Is it a special thing to know who did Inuyasha's voice? You sound like you're really proud of knowing that.

Big deal really. It took me a few seconds to search on imdb and find that.

But yeah, Billy Bob Thorton's done a lot of voices in Studio Ghibli (spelled right?) films. I don't mind him though, oh well.

Christian Bale did Howls voice in Howls Moving Castle. That movie had some good dubbing, the guy who did the voice for the fire was excellent.
