You mean, Young Link?
I actually liked Link a lot, but yeah some of this projectile attacks were rather pointless. Tamarin: Yeah, Level 9 Computers are pretty easy. So I hope they spoof up the difficulty in the new one, or have more levels to it or something. |

Craw, let's not start shit over this. Again, either post something positive, or shut up. Just because he doesn't live up to your standards does not give you the right to tell him how shitty he is at SSBM. I can't beat 2 Lvl 9 comps; what will you do? Yell at me and call me a bad person because I'm not as good as you? Probably, but that's besides the point. Drop it, and shut it.
I find Link to be rather useful. The Down thrust and the heavy smash combo work great for me, and the Boomerang is nice for stopping my enemy from getting back on stage. |

Xeo: No, I mean Link. Young Link at least has stunning fire arrows and a decent speed.
Clockworkz: Just shut up please I didn't start anything. RYjet was the one throwing out the bullshit here - I just said he wasn't as good as he thought, is all. There's nothing wrong with that and there never will be. |

I honestly hated Young Link. Sure he was faster, but his reach was very limited with his sword, and he was weaker.
I was just always better with Link. My favorite characters were: Marth, Falcon, Fox, Dr. Mario, Link, Samus, and that's pretty much it. (Last edited by Xeomega on 06-07-05 04:08 PM) |

Originally posted by Kyouji Craw Quoted because... he's right! And, no acting like mods unless you are/have been one here, m'kay? I dunno about Xeo, but I find it extremely annoying. I suck with Link, even more than I suck with anyone else. I need speed and reach in melee attacks. Projectiles aren't as important, since I can always grab items. I use Marth almost exclusively, unless I'm playing with someone far less experienced than I am. Xeo: Play with items on, and see where Link gets you that other characters can't. His projectiles are proven useless when you can pick up better ones, which leaves his melee power to be counted on - not good when he's not much faster (if at all) than Donkey Kong. I honestly wanna see the guy from Harvest Moon in there still
Lloyd or Kratos from Tales of Symphonia would be a pretty sweet option. And Majora's Mask Link would rock. He could have the different masks and each time he changes he gets the same sort of moves as he does in the game. But Meta Knight would definetly be my first pick if I had a choice to who would go in there. Then I'd put some of the sweet Fire Emblem characters in, maybe throw in a trainer from Pokemon who came with Pokeballs as his attack. |

Originally posted by Jedi Watchman TamarinOriginally posted by Kyouji Craw See, my friends and I just found items to be annoying, and sometimes very "cheap". We would always play fairly. For instance, when someones floating back to the edge of a level, how many of you stand there powering up your attack to knock that guy into oblivion? My friends and I hardly did that in SSBM, it would just always lead to big arguements and things like that. But, items were a factor there too. My friend would also "toss" them at me, for an almost instant death when I was falling around in the sky, and it would just piss us off at times. On top of that, I think it takes more skill to beat someone without items, so it's more fun. Just how I've always played it though. |

I'd use the 'quote' function, but this thread wouldn't load all the way...
"For instance, when someones floating back to the edge of a level, how many of you stand there powering up your attack to knock that guy into oblivion? My friends and I hardly did that in SSBM, it would just always lead to big arguements and things like that. " Sore losers, it sounds like. Honestly, I do that every time, and it only causes arguments when I'm playing with a certain cousin of mine - who happens to be a sore loser. Some people are pretty good at avoiding that. Lure Samus into firing a Charge Shot, then jump/UpB away from it. Duck under Marth's Shield Breaker by grabbing the ledge from below, then rolling on instead of landing from above. "But, items were a factor there too. My friend would also "toss" them at me, for an almost instant death when I was falling around in the sky, and it would just piss us off at times. " Airdodge? Timed jumps? Hell, I think some can be knocked away by certain UpB attacks. Certain items can be cheap, I will admit. The Bob-omb, if it hits, is likely to be an instant kill if you have a reasonable amount of damage. Play for a while with items on, though, and learn how to dodge them, and they won't seem so cheap. Learn how to deflect or catch them, too. ... except that damned star. Invincibility sucks, massively. Explosive capsules are very strong, but somewhat rare. Hell, even the hammer has a disadvantage - aside from the lack of double/triplejump abilities, sometimes the head falls off. And you can't do crap about it, since you're swinging a useless stick around that does no damage at all. Someone else can walk right in, pick up the head of the hammer, and throw it at you. But, hey, you want to keep playing without items, that's fine. I'm just pointing out that, if you practice with them on, they won't seem so bad. Of course, I would strongly recommend turning the Poke Ball off if you're on a small arena... |

Tamarin: Trust me, I know all about the dodging and sheilding and stuff, and I've played tons and tons of games with items on with this game, it's just ... well, it's just how my friends and I usually play it now.
I can tell you what items we -never- used, because they sucked: - Poke-ball - Bob-omb - Hammer? (Donkey Kong hammer) - The Star (invicible?) - And probably a few other things ... We'd usually play with: - The shells - Beam saber, Kirby Star - Beam gun - Boxes and Barrels for items - Healing items, always brought up tension - And probably a few other, similar things that were "fun" to use, and not "cheap". Kyouji Craw: SSBM bitch. |

Originally posted by Xeomega Geeze. I liked Marth a lot, definitely more than Roy. He wasn't as strong, but he was faster ... just more my style. Edit: Nevermind, saw that you meant around your place. Honestly though, I don't hang out with the people anymore I used to play with, so ... that's why I suck at this game now. if we're talking about tactics here, it's the precise timing of attacks that makes this game not as cheap. You can counter any attack with one of your own if you time it right (ex. I can easily kick into donkey kong's recovery when using fox). Ther there's the rarely used side dodge, which has sent countless amounts of jiggly puffs, yoshis and captain falcons off the edge. I practiced a lot with Fox by myself and with a friend who uses Roy, I had complete control over Fox when i played it the most (went straight through the event matches using him for all the choice character matches). I play versus with items off, they're for the weak and provide a natural handicap. I would like this new one to have some substitute for invinvibility, like massive damage or teleporting.

Originally posted by XeomegaINCORRECT, SIR! Marth and Roy both have "sweet spots" on their blades. Roy's sweet spot is in the middle of the blade - he will deal far more damage than Marth if you hit someone when you're right up against them. Marth's sweet spot is at the tip of his blade - he will deal far more damage than Roy if you hit someone when you're a fair bit away from them. Damage between these two, however, is exactly the same. They're just as strong in their key areas, but they're strong in different areas. Marth's sweet spot is smaller than Roy's, and most people who aren't very good are far more likely to hit from closer, so it seems to people who aren't very good that Roy is a great deal stronger. For an experienced player, however, Marth is easily the better pick since he can deal more damage from further away and he's a great deal faster. |

From what I remember, Marth was the better of the two. Roy has stronger moves, but Marth's sweet spot and recovery make him the better of the two.
Or something like that. |

And I'm pretty sure Marth had the better jump, and he was quicker.
Thus, I liked him more. |

yeah, me and Beowulf are sweet Marth Roy combo (me Marth, him Roy). we fight over who is stronger, but we never actually battle each other.. i personally like to fight the computer, all against me. i usually face a level 9 pikachu, a level 9 mewtwo, and one other level 9. i can usually get them down to 1 life each in a stock match before they get the best of me. that is pretty good for 3 level 9's, and 2 of the best characters in the game against me.if i used Roy, i could probably beat them without losing all of my lives. i have to get a real GC, because doing the illegal thing on my comp we cant talk about slows my comp WAY down for some reason...

^--- Must he speak of me EVERYTIME about something?
Actually Marth was suppose to heal himself with his own sword, because that how it work in his game. Then the game programmer thought that Marth heal himself with his Fachlon seem way to cheap since Fachlon heal every hit points so they need something else to make him the better lord. So they add "more speed" to him, seeing how that he is very quick and agile in Fire Emblem. Roy? Interesting facts: He was first made in SSBM, not in Fire Emblem 6. So you can expect different results and his Sword of Seals should have count as two ranges attack. Plus... he should have more power and defense then Marth but slighly less in speed. Not to mention two of those Fire Emblem Legend got skills that killz. If I would add some character in SSB, either Myrrh, Fa (A.K.A. Fazilla), Rethe, Mordy, Rieusion, Janaff, Vulci, Lay, Nasir, Ena, Tibarn, Naesala, Giffca, and Senerio... all fresh from Fire Emblem or not... (Want to see more transformation from human into creature, except for Senerio who just got a bad look in him.) |

Haha, Fa in SSB. That'd be pretty sweet, it'd have the sort of moves like Zelda did in SSBM, how she could turn into Sheik and all that. I'd like to see Hector in this though. SSB needs a guy with an axe.
(Off topic: Senerio is a dude?) Aaaanyways. I'd pull someone out of Fire Emblem 8 also. Probably Joshua, he seemed to be a cool posterboy for the game that people might recognize. Though I'd like to see Artur in there... and I'd like to see Lowen, but that won't be happening. |

I mean, they were in both Roy's and Eliwood's game! What's not like about that? Heh, what would happened if Merlinus fight? Merlinus: "Oh dear god... I must run away!" *Run off the stage and attempted suicide.* Originally posted by Johnny Literal What? You didn't know? He does look somewhat like a girl but he isn't. You can tell if he was a female if he have breast coming out. Oh wait, I know! Serra in the game too! She would be funny as hell to everyone in the game. "Get me that ice cream cone!" "Ness, bow down before me!" "Eww... you got a ugly green get-up there Link." "You got no fashion sense, Zelda." And let not froget the three sexy Pegasus Triangle Attack. I wager that Team V.S. Team, those Pegasus Triangle Attack will kill and elimates EVERYONE off the stage. |
