Hmn... see the concept of national I.D.s as both a good thing and a bad thing. Good because it's just one I.D. (like a passport), but if it allows them to pretty much track you then that just isn't cool. Creepy actually.

Why does the goverment always want to know where I am at all times? Screw them, I don't want them to know where I am at all times. I argee this sounds like it's turning into 1984... How sad.

And then you'd have people like me, who'd leave that ID in the office while I run wild everywhere else.

I hear that.

For the ID thing, I don't get affected. Although it's pretty dumb having them track you everywhere. Thank you Red & White.

as scary as you made have tried to put it as, it'll never happen. why... because america has something called democracy. as much as we want to believe, but those in power actually know what they're doing, and arent going to do anything stupid that can cost them re-election. the only way i can see this supposeed bill to pass is if it's a "rider bill" on something like... dropping taxes 10% or something. other than that, i dont ever see it ever being a real threat.

That's really scary actually I wouldn't want the government knowing where I am. The government has too much power, they were supposed to be there to keep the peace and harmony between everyone and all they seem to be doing is abusing there power. I don't like them.

I'm not too worried about it. With nearly 300 million people in this country, do you think they are going to be focused on you alone? The people who are going to be involved in this if it happens aren't going to be robots who watch monitors 24/7. Some of them will be a bit lazy, and I'm sure that only when you commit a big crime will the "know where you are" thing come into effect.

But you know what? I doubt this will happen the way everyone thinks it will. Have you ever heard of that idea of a small implanted chip will all of a person's money and information stored in it? It something that some stores were going to use to have customers pay for food and such. Just walk through a scanner and it'll read what items you have, the cost and access your bank account to withdraw the money. If that bill is going to become something more, then I have a good feeling that the "chip" will used for it.

Um, if you read the whole post avatar you would have noticed that he said it was a rider bill. The main part of it was a spending bill, hence why it passed.

still, i dont see how an ID will allow the government to track you 24/7... is this some sorta magical ID that has a tracker running on over 300 million ppl? and how do they enforce you to carry it at all times? it's very unclear =/ i think you're jumping the ship

I'm not sure that they'd be able to tack us either... a microchip implanted in the card perhaps. We'll have to see.

Well they never do tell us everything.

This topic reminds me of the movie "Gattaca" in a sense.

I agree with you Xeodious. It sorta reminds of that movie to. But yeah how could they do that to us. This goverment has some wacky protocals.

I would also be one to leave it at home and run wild.... that is unless if they implant it somewhere on your body, then we are just all screwed.

I honestly don't see this being as affective as they plan it to be if they realy do this. People loose ids all the time. Not to mentione tracking all this and putting it together requires major orginization and personally, I don't always see our government have that great organizations skills in news task, especially if they haven't really done anything like it before.

we are all very very lucky...why? because we are dealing with the man....the same people who hired xabuza after they started tracking him for being a hacker....which should tell you how much shit they have on the shelf. yes we should barter away our little freedom one bit at a time, the people in power got there because they have our best interests at heart and they love us, sometimes we spoon....they would never do anything bad because we vote and it is impossible to rig an election....and it definatly didnt happen already...nope....invest in halliburton!

if this really becomes something, i hope other control measures start happening and America falls apart, i've always wanted to see the end of the world, or some huge change of events. Other than that, i would lose this card about thrice a month. If people in DC know what they're doing they can stop it from being passed until that part is taken out.

They can't take that part out, not since Congress took away the president's power to do a Line Item Veto back during the Clinton years. Now either the whole bill passes, or none of it does... and since it's a spending bill they all really want it to pass. Sneaky bastards!

Why do I have the feeling that I'm going to buy I very powerful magnet soon. **looks around** Opps... my card has fallen onto it. **looks around**

Ok but seriously... It passed? WTF?!? Is there anything we can do to get it overturned? Shit, where is the supreme court? Have they said anything about it being unconstitutional? Because that is definitely unconstitutional.
