I had this sort of a cold that only affected my nose. It came on very suddenly while I was standing out in the cold with Stitch, waiting for our table to be ready at a sushi place in Little Tokyo. I had a stuffy and runny nose through the rest of the week, but no sore throat, headache, or fever (mostly.)

Didn't miss any work, but yeah, this shit was inconvenient.

Ugh, super sick. But I'm glad I remembered Zinc this time. I've been taking Zinc, D3, and Vitamin C at night, then drink some warm water with ACV and honey in the morning. I seem to be fighting off symptoms a lot better than last time.

Started as a sore throat, which has kind of gone away now. But then the fever and chills hit. Now my head just feels really heavy and dizzy, I'm ultra stuffy and can't breath well either. Sick just in time for my weekend!

I got a lot of sleep last night... but it was really sporadic and odd broken up hours. It's 12:35am as I'm typing this which is pretty late for me thesedays. Hope I can sleep tonight.

I honestly think something is funked up with this apartment. Ever since I've lived here these past few years, I've been getting ear/sinus infections 2-3 times a year and more than that one bad flu case a year or so. Allergies have been way worse too. I think it does have a mold problem and my hoarder roommate probably doesn't help, he hasn't cleaned his room once in four years and I wonder if that nastiness seeps through.

Well... I'm moving in March. Hope the new environment does change things for the better.

Possibly. I don't know if it will help, but nasacort does wonders for my allergies. But yeah, air out the place whenever it is possible, and wipe down your stuff with bleach when packing if you can.

Got most of the way to work (alone since Mom has the flu) before I just decided to call in since I'm not really feeling 100% either. Sitting at home and enjoying it.

Two weeks later and it already feels like I'm getting another cold!

I think stress and moving soon has something to do with all this...

Sorry to hear that, and yes, stress can be a huge factor. Also, there's no telling how much dust you might be inhaling while moving?

I don't know. Seems like whenever I clean my room, I get sick with a cold right after from all the dust.

I ended up calling out sick on Tuesday. My mom had the flu and I wasn't feeling completely well, nor did I really want to go to work.

I got back yesterday and everyone was accusing me of taking home one of the work phones. I kept swearing it wasn't me, and then lo and behold, it was one of the clique girls that my boss swears aren't getting special treatment.

I have a cold and I'm miserable. I called out of work on Tuesday when it was first taking hold, but went in yesterday feeling worse than the day before.

Not exactly sick, but it turns out that I have a deviated septum after seeing the ENT doctor today. Going to get a CT scan done soon and hope that my sinuses are clear, so I can go ahead with the surgery and get it repaired. Glad to finally have some answers and hopefully my insurance comes through here and helps a lot.

Anyone ever hear stories or know of people who have had this procedure done?

That sucks! Hopefully the surgery works and that insurance covers this. And I have not heard of anyone having this done so I don't have any stories to share. Sorry about that

I had a best friend who had to get his deviated septum surgically repaired. He was definitely better afterward. He had had a lot of issues with his nose up to that point.

After the surgery he was told not to lay down, so he had to sleep in a chair for a week or so.

At least it's not serious.

That's good to hear. Hopefully I don't need to sleep upright in a chair or anything though... that wouldn't be doable haha.

Speaking of sleep, I actually wonder if this issue is giving me some sleep apnea and that might be reason for my on and off insomnia. Despite usually getting a solid 7-8 hours of sleep a night I never really feel super rested or get up easily. It'll be interesting if this helps.

That might be something worth talking to your doctors about just to see if these two conditions are related.

Surgery went well. Yesterday was a nightmare but I got through. Feels like black charcoal in my nose today, it's a lot of maintenance. It'll be very hard to get any good sleep for the next few nights too since I have to be very elevated and lay on my back basically, so I only got a few hours last night.

But yeah, even with a bloody scabbed up nose with bandages I have to put in front of it, I can already tell a huge difference with my breathing. My weird TMJ issues on one of my sides seems like it may have been eliminated too. This is just day 2 so I can't wait to keep seeing the positives...

Sadly the procedure was a bit more expensive than I hoped, but not entirely surprising. I need to talk to the hospital Monday and get more details on the bill, I'm not sure if it's a big inclusive one or if I'm also going to expect more bills for the anesthesia and whatnot. I've only just now started hitting my deductible since this popped up. Which is the confusing thing, since if I hit my deductible with the doctor visits and other bills, I if this hospital bill will then change. I still have to cover 20% though. Luckily built up my savings the last two years, but right when I got it to a real comfy spot this happens haha..

Recovery is going well... gonna get out tomorrow finally and get some groceries and stuff. It will be my last day on antibiotics too so that's good. Still binging games and shows haha.

That's great! Hope it's all doing better now.

How bad was it before? My friend would spend a good 30 minutes or more just trying to blow and clean out his nose.

I was having to blow my nose daily, often right when I woke up. Honestly I was under the illusion that it was either asthma or allergies and just is what it was. But it seemed odd that my allergies supposedly were getting worse and worse by the year for the last five years. My doctor said people can be born with a deviated septum and sometimes it may or may not become a problem in adulthood. I've also had all kinds of complications with weird inconsistent vision problems, TMJ, face pain and headaches, post nasal drip, etc that all seem related. Prior to the surgery after I was diagnosed I really paid attention to my breathing and it was eye opening, it was like air would go in my bad side but not actually down into my throat and lungs. So I guess I somehow just went all my life up to now on half a tank.

Fighting off congestion now which I hear is normal for about 2-4 weeks. And I hear within a month I should notice a major difference. I go back to see my doctor the week after next for the check up.

For the rest of this week and next I have to constantly use nasal sprays every 2-3 hours, which will be annoying next week at work. But oh well.

My wallet is crying... can't wait to hit that deductible. But even then my insurance will only cover 80%. Doesn't look catastrophic and I was able to build up my savings a lot this past year, but yeah I might be spending a few grand on this. Should be worth it though.
