Since we have a few soldiers on the site, I thought this might be a fun thing to talk about. Personally, I think it's about time since female soldiers have already been in combats and this allows them to finally be recognized for all that they have done.

What are your thoughts?

I kinda wish our armed forces members would weigh in on this, because part of me feels like this is something that you kinda gotta be there to truly understand it.

While I am definitely always excited for new developments in gender equality, or any type of equality, I've heard some cases against this idea throughout my life, and they sound silly to me, but I'm not there, ya know? So I'm not a hundred percent on how I feel on this yet. Like, are they talking about letting women on the front lines by mixing the genders up? Or are they talking more like larger and more Lioness teams?

Its lines like your's though, about the women in the armed forces to be fully recognized for what they've done that gets me pumped up for the idea. I wish there were more women in my family or friends whom I could go to and ask about this though. True's input would be immensely appreciated. (I've been thinking about this topic since I heard...)

I've met women who wanted to be infantry. The most they could do was go into engineering corps or go airborne. To be quite honest. What ever floats your boat.

Personally, I don't like the idea of me in a combat position because of the following reasons:

1. Men can't focus. Most will be more about saving the girl then focusing on the fire fight.

2. Policies in basic training when I went stated that during a 7 day field training exercise after day 3 the women had to go back to the barracks and take a shower. Why? Because we grow things. So being on the front lines = no showers = eeeeeeeeeeeew

3. Rape. 'nuff said.

So there you have it.

We definitely can't have those female soldiers raping the men, it's incredibly demoralizing to the male psyche. /badjoke

My coworker is ex-Army, and overall she is pleased with the change... though she still thinks the idea of anyone (man or woman) wanting to volunteer for infantry is crazy. I can understand that.

I don't really have an opinion on the lift of the ban. I loved SNL's way of talking about it. Have you seen the investigation channels on TV? Women are heartless killers everywhere! XD

But really. The ban has nothing to do with any changes to my job considering that being a soldier first makes me infantry by proxy. The ban has nothing to really do with any changes to UCMJ that affect me (DADT lift now makes it okay for me to perform a BJ on my hubby or have sex in different sexual positoins if I wanted to). Only thing the ban will do is take the "Is it gay? or is it Infantry" motto and turn it into "Is it EO(Equal opportunity) or is it Infantry."

....

....

....

Damn it... now I'm totally against it. Homo eroticism is going away!!! No! This is an outrage!

Oh, I am sure the homo eroticism will remain. Nothing makes that go away.
