| I'm sure you've all heard the news. A guy in Colorado walked into a midnight showing of the latest Batman movie and opened fire after dropping tear gas inside, killing 12 and reportedly injuring 40 or 50 others.
Now Warner Brothers is talking about pulling all screenings of the film: SOURCE I just don't know what to think. The suspect is from San Diego. It makes me wonder if he tried to do this at Comic-Con. He could take out sooooo many people. I feel sick. |

| I've got a few friends on Facebook that are gun nuts and they're saying that if people were allowed to carry guns with them everywhere, this wouldn't have happened.
I'm sorry, but I have to disagree with that. If guns are more readily available, nutjobs like this would be far more common. Like I said on FB, there's home safety and then there's overkill. This guy had an assault rifle, a shotgun, AND a handgun. The handgun and shotgun I can see as normal, but what is seriously wrong with our country that allows civilians to own assault rifles and purchase ammunition for them? What is the damned point? Nobody hunts with them, so that argument is right out the window, and as for home safety? Most of the time you wouldn't shoot the intruder at all, you just point a gun at them and they leave if they know what's good for them, and if they don't? They have a good chance of surviving. With owning a damned assault rifle, you would kill any potential intruders if you fired, plain and simple. |

| Patton Oswalt posted this video on his Facebook regarding the situation. It's actually about a different shooting, but he wanted to share it because the psychiatrist's words about the media blowing shootings out of proportion is what's the problem. In its own way, the coverage is romanticizing these murderers.

| Oh he is crazy in some way, that much is obvious... but he was still cognizant of his own actions. I am saying he is trying to play it up to get the insanity defense, which he shouldn't get. Especially since the journal proves that he had planned it all out in advance.
And in case you didn't see the update on that story (don't know when the correction was made), but the initial report of it being there since the 12th was wrong. It was sent the Friday of the shooting and found on Monday... and mailrooms on campus are closed over the weekend. That error in the initial report is what concerns me. It seems more like a joke about the movie than an insult to the victims, but understandably people are angry either way. Then again, it's Dane Cook. People were going to hate him no matter what he said. |

| I do not believe in execution for any man (with the exception of nuke threats). Even this crazy fuck. Moreso because, due to the rarity of executions, that means even more publicity for him.
