One of my best friends in the world moved to Maine to persue in a career in professional home Renovation.

That's him on the left.

To be honest. Now I know how he felt when I moved to Florida for a year to work at Disney. But this pain is hurting a lot.

Mind you. This is my BEST friend. This is one person whom I can take a bullet for, shelter him for as long as he wants, and do anything for this dude. We are both similar in ways you can not believe. Anything and everything I have ever liked he instantly became a fan.

When he had surgery in his leg last year he was going to be in bed and he picked up WoW. I bought the game as well and played along with him.

When my aunt passed away he helped carry her body to her grave for me. As I just could not do it.

He didn't celebrate Christmas day. So I invited him over to my house and even my family got him gifts for Christmas. No one should celebrate christmas alone.

I mean sure. We are still gonna play WoW, game it up, and talk to each other on skype a lot. But I'm gonna miss the pranks we pull on each other. The endless nights we stay up playing videogames, the days when we work on projects and make a little cash to just go a little further in life. In a way, he is moving on to bigger and better things. And i'm stuck here.

Ever had a really good friend move away?

Kinda, but I was a lot younger, so I don't think it hit me as hard. Also, I now have the dubious honor of being the friend that moved away. I can say that from this end it still sucks.

Well I've lived in like 10 different homes in the course of my growing up. Family financial issues, parents split for awhile, things like that. So up to high school I was forced to constantly lose and remake friends, and this obviously was back when we were younger before the digital networking age and all, I couldn't drive, so I was powerless to do anything. Certainly a lot of "what if's" play in my mind about this situation, what if we were still friends, what if I still knew her, etc. It wasn't the most exciting thing in the world and I'll never know if my parents understood how painful that was for me growing up, so I vow to never do that to my family/kids whenever that day comes. I'm going to find a place and stay there.

Out of high school is a weird thing though, I'd say you kind of discover who your real friends are and whatnot. So I've stuck with some friends since those days and a few I've known since jr. high. It's definitely friends and family that make me want to stay in the area, even at this age and all I don't think I could handle another situation having to start new somewhere else again.

My best friend.. Left me forever when I was 18. Her, her mother and stepfather were all murdered and their house burnt to the ground. My childhood best friend... My first friend. Even if we didn't see each other too much, we always had that special connection. We were each others first friend. And we were best friends growing up; connected at the hip.

My current best friend has lived away from me since we graduated high school, so it's hardly difficult. We don't talk as much as we'd like, but when we do, it's easy to just pick up where we left off... and for that I am grateful.

Lastly, and I feel the worst about this, as we're really close and I've grown as an adult with her for several years now, she's known and helped me through a lot, and vice versa. I'm sad that I will be moving away, because I won't see her for quite some time, so I'm trying to spend as much time as I can with her now, because it's all we can do.

Remember, it's not the end, it's the beginning!

I'm so sorry, honey. Unfortunately, it's part of life, but here's hoping your friend finds success in Maine.

I know the feeling of best friends moving away all too well. I mean, Elara's on the east coast now.

Stitch moved up to the Bay Area for a few years before he ended up moving back.

Kittybob left for Colorado, but also came back (HOWEVER, she a couple hours away and I've only seen her twice in the last year. ).

And then there's Junkie. His leaving was completely unannounced. He had told me he figured one of these days he'd go up to visit some WoW friends up near San Francisco and just never come back without telling anyone, and he did it. Frankly, I was a bit upset about it and I still am. And on top of that, he doesn't tell us when he's in town for the weekend or when I'm up in his neck of the woods he's not up for hanging out.

Oh well.

Anyway, I know your pain, Bitmap. And again, I'm sorry.

EDIT: Sorry, Belial. Ya ninja posted me. But HOLY SHIT! I'm sorry to hear about your friend. Oh my god.

I moved from all my friends in Columbus... So yeah I never had any of my best friends move away from me more like I moved from them.

Tons of friends have come and gone throughout my life. Some had parents that moved constantly, some went to college out of town (and subsequently were never heard from again), and some just disappeared completely.

I'm grateful for the handful that have stayed, however, as they are the friends that I have known the longest.
