So, what better way to celebrate my 24th birthday than none other than the 24th of September?

This guy wants to,

First and foremost. I need to get new glasses. The pair I am wearing now still works great but I want to have a new fashion. Price? Does not matter!

I was thinking maybe getting a pair of glasses like this:

Link: http://www.lenscrafters.com/eyeglasses/14/club-monaco/6390702

Maybe a little smaller on the frame. But thick frames none the less. I may be blind but at least my lenses are thin. Which makes this the perfect combo. Thick, small frames. That's really the #1 thing I want for my birthday. Hands down.

Of course I'll be buying this. So it's no question I won't get it unless something bad happens to me like if my car breaks down or I get injured *Knocks on wood*

Second, is I want to have a BANGING LAN party. A LAN party is basically hooking a lot of computers together in a network to play games together. All in one room. Sounds nerdy I know, and I have a few "Friends" that I know can do this. When I built my computer thankfully a lot of my friends built theirs. So we'll be playing a lot of games but right now; we don't know which games yet. We already have SC2 labled as one but we want something with netplay ability. One that does not need internet access to acquire. If we do this at my house we won't have the network capable of doing so. So I will be looking at asking places around town to do so. This is still a work in progress.

We are going to have nerdy girls come into this party. So far we have about three of them and I asked what they wanted in terms of entertainment and they wanted party games and Anime. Both are doable. So my friend is gonna let me borrow his TV so we can all play games outside the PC gaming deal (This is also all night mind you. We'll be camping out as well during the night when sleeping.)

But yeah we already have plans on getting food (We're cooking out), games, entertainment, music, etc. So this is starting to look like a good plan.

Sounds like a pretty bad ass birthday plan, my friend. I wish my birthdays were more like that. I think I've only been to one LAN party in my entire life, but that was all of us in one room playing Ragnarok Online so it isn't quite what you have planned.

I thought you needed internet access for SC2 because of Battle.net. Doesn't Portal 2 do multiplayer, or is it just two-player?

Other fun game, Phantasy Star Online, if you can find a server or do multiplayer on consul.

SC2 is Online only. Which is a problem. I have about 5 friends who play this online and we really need 6 friends to make this a night to remember. Only problem is that we all have to be connected online.

Other games however dont need internet connections. So thats doable!

You could do SC1 instead, if you're worried about the internet. You could also do Minecraft (theres tons of games to be had in a LAN environment), League of Legends (or some variation thereof), Unreal Tournament (any version), or pretty much any RTS (Age of Empires 2 and 3 are fantastic, as is Supreme Commander).

If I knew where you lived and was close by, I'd offer to come help you celebrate, but I don't think you're in SE Michigan...=/

Oooh... you could do WC3 and do a massive battle. Or Diablo 2, that might be fun... just endless cow levels!

... and yes, I like Blizzard.

Yeah Diablo 2 or Supreme Commander aren't bad ideas either. I'm sure SupCom is like $2 on Steam as well. lol

Sounds like a ball. LAN's are always good times. Either overdose on caffeine or beer while you're at it.

I have ALWAYS wanted to go to a LAN party. Much envy to you, man, should this be accomplished.

But yeah, there are a TON of games to play for the kind of LAN party you're thinking of. And Steam is fantastic. So even if you guys all come up with a game that you think might be awesome, but no one has it yet, like the Boss said, check out Steam. (Yes, I'm still a GameStop employee. Haha. But Steam is SOOOO much better for this kinda thing.)

And the image didn't show for me. I wanted to see what kinda glasses you wanted.

I have a cracked copy of SupCom and it works well over LAN (cheap solution for cheap friends like mine), but you have to be sure to install the patches, then crack it in the order the crack (that the game comes with via TPB) specifies. I have since purchased the game (hard-copy) for $7.99 late last year.

I sorta wish I was able to join you in your fun...=,(

Problem we are having is finding a place to do this at. Sure I could do this in my basement. But the only problem is internet access and even though my internet is more than capiable of handling this household. It's not capable in handling the online speeds of games like SC2 (Which 90% of us play).

BUT! I have asked around and went to CSU (Columbus State University) and asked about having my LAN party (All nighter) but lies two problems:

1- No Alcohol. (I'm the only one who drinks. And it's my damn party I am gonna freaking drink!) This can be easily worked around if I feel I don't need alcohol that day. If I wanted to I could always sneak in some Vodka in a water bottle and try my best to hide my drunkeness. But I bet the arrest isn't worth it. Or I could come in drunk!?

2- Cost to hold party? $400. From That day at 4PM for 24 hours. Seems a lot of folks hold super LAN parties there (They even hold SC2 tournaments) but that does seem pretty steep. That is something I need to talk with my friends about. Dedicated people who are joining have to pay for cover charge split over the people there. Those that want to join might have to pay for pizza and drinks. We will; have to clean our own messes up and we are responcible in keeping the place clean. We can; be as loud as we want to. Vulgar as we want to, and as long as it's in the place settled: Who we want to be. Just no Alcohol (Bummer)

I'm still asking around town on places to hold this. Only place that allows Alcohol and good internet service for cheap is all the way in ATL. And I am not going to have this party there.

If push comes to shove I'll just call AT&T and get the super service they offer and pay up front for that month then move back down to the service I already use now. My basement us freaking huge (Can hold 6 vehicles) and I can drink and shoot the shit all I want to. I just...need to talk to grandmother about it.

Either way, I am going to make this work. Besides, I want stuff like this to happen:

Not really, but it's always funny to watch people nerd rage on videogames.

I hate people like that. lol, the third guy sitting down would be me. Just kind of laughing and watching.

That $400 and everything that comes with it definitely sounds like something you need to perfectly explain with your friends and all if they're interested. If they were gonna provide food/drinks and stuff already, helping pay for that might not be an option or something. Who knows.

I guess if not grandma might be hearing a little noise one of these nights?

Well the cool thing about my house is that it's huge. And it isn't the first time a LAN party was held at this house (Cousin held plenty of parties in the basement. All LAN) not to mention I held a halo (ugh) party at this house once but it ended in disaster. Too many angry gamers present and two fights were brought out. Thankfully I'm not friends with them anymore.

I talked with my grandmother about it and she said she does not mind as long as people pay a cover charge. Basically enough for electricity, food and whatnot. But she isn't asking for much. Just basically 10 bucks a person. Which should help out on her own bills.

But she won't hear us. Thankfully the basement is so far away from her room that she won't be able to hear us unless we have heavy bass. Hell my cousin had parties and they were cussing up a storm and yet she slept soundly without no awakening from them. So that's no worries.

About the games though I talked my friends into getting Supreme Commander 2 (I have this game as well) and they didn't mind getting it. We're also deciding on doing a few other games but it's not set in stone yet. But we all agreed with the following:

- Quake Live (FPS) *Surprisingly this can work under LAN*
- Supreme Commander 2 (RTS)
- Unreal Tournament 2k4 (FPS)
- Starcraft 2 (RTS) *Tested Online with five people and we barely had a rise in ping. So it works*

Also I did find a place that had absolutely everything I wanted. But under one condition: To let his kids join in.

We share the same birthday and I'm still thinking about it. I mean, we all want to be adults here. But the kids want to play PS3 party games (Which I sure have) and have fun with the big kids.

But meh. We'll see. There is a pool table though!

Halo LAN's were always awesome for me. But yes, friendships were usually on thin ice during those times. lawls.

A friend of mine and I will never ever forget another friend of ours, every single time we killed him, he'd seemingly throw a grenade that would usually end up killing us by running over his dead boy or just being nearby. We dubbed it his "Pocket Grenades" eventually, man it pissed him off, but man it pissed us off he did it every single time. lmao

I had an old friend who stopped being my friend cause I kicked his ass at Halo. This was also the same time when I was playing UT2k4 all throughout high school so I was pretty much a natural at Halo.

Well a few months later he came to my LAn party and I had to kick him out because he started smashing shit.

Honestly, you can cuss and get mad all you want to. But when you start hitting stuff in my house then it begins to get aggravating. AKA; time to go!

So my friend and I have been talking with another place to hold this at and so far it seems like the "Best" place to hold this. Alcohol -is- allowed as long as it's being drink outside the building. Which is fine with me.

But the one thing that really got me is when the place contacted me on facebook just now and asked if they wanted to up the anty. Basically, make this something that is not only a party for me, but it's beneficial for less unfortunates as well.

Before I go on, let me give a big shout out to Elite Zone for not only offering me their, well, offer, but for telling me what they wanted this to deal with.

First and foremost. They want this to be a charity event. Turns out this place is also a huge place for charity drives. Draws in a lot of folks to come in, purchase hours, and have a good time. But for the VIP members (Which I am a part of) it holds special tournaments for my friends and I to just basically play games.

Now, how will this all work out?

We only pay for the all day pass. $30.

That's it. And we get all the free food, drinks, and super blazing fast internet we want to for the whole day. Not only that but we also get "Professional Commentators" broadcasted on TV's and whatnot. So we get to live the MLG experience with a huge crowd and everything.

Alcohol? Fuck off. I want to hear the commentator shout off how I am using stimpack on zergs and Protoss. I can't be drunk for that! I'm going to be turning 24! I don't have that much more time for gaming like I do now! I want to have a baller ass birthday with me kicking so much ass in videogames and having hundreds of people watch and cheer! THIS IS MY CHANCE!

And for others joining. If I plan this by Friday then 10% of all proceeds from guests go to a local charity organization (Probibly the Ronald McDonald House or something. I dunno) and a good feeling is all around.

This place to hold this? It has to be it.

Well some of us are also average. And my friends and I had plans on doing a ton of 2v2 / 3v3 (Depending on how big this is gonna be. So far it looks to be about 4 folks bringing their computers so yeah).

But we all decided on doing this at my grandmother's house. Not only was it cheaper. but it's also going to help out my grandmother on bills. She only asks for $10 for each person joining (Some of my friends are going to bring more cause everyone loves my grandma) and that we don't get too crazy loud. Which is fine because we planned on getting a 40" TV to watch anime. Some music to kinda be ambient (Unless we watch something on netflix), and of course. There will be boose and a huge fucking grill to cook out in. Not to mention when we all get tired we have a huge freakin lawn so we are all gonna camp out to sleep in. Under the stars. Plus with the burn barrel we are gonna have it's gonna be cool staying up at 4AM telling stories.

Shit is gonna be fun as heck yo.

But currently the games we all had planned (And agreed) were these:

- Starcraft 2
- Terraria
- Team Fortress 2
- World of Warcraft (PVP ONLY)

TV is being used by a good friend of mine. And I am gonna use my PS3 to play HD anime in the background.

So for $10 bucks and you bringing your own meat. You get good friends to chill with. Watch people play some sick games. A professional southern grill that can hold 40 pounds of meat slow cooked. Watch anime. While TV isnt on, a nice floor to dance on with the music playing, and finally. A night to never forget.

I'll also have pictures of this whole thing happen. I'll even record some of the games played and host them on Youtube if my internet speeds won't crap out in the middle of the night like they usually do.

But in less than two weeks. All of this is happening. It will probably be my last LAN party. So I am gonna make this happen
