After careful review of recent material of the Devil May Cry series, I have come to a few conclusions and/or theories. First off, for a simple review, "Dante" is featured in this game, which is now being developed by Ninja Theory. Not Capcom. This new "Dante" shows him with short, black hair, with a white spot in the back of his hair, a short jacket, rough looking Rebellious Teen outlook, and smoking. People have rumored that this is the time when Dante is growing up, which could make sense, but the conflictions hurt my brain as I think about this. For example, if this was Dante growing up, his weapon is unable to do what it can do. For thoes of you who watch closely, the sword he uses in this looks just like Rebellion. However, this blade turns into a Scythe, a Spear, and a chain blade. With the exception of the Chain Blade, the only time we have seen this with a Devil Arm, is DMC 1's Sword of Sparda: Sparda. Now, being an avid fan of the series, Rebellion could not do any of these, Nor did it resemble Force Edge (the base of Sparda) and could only be awoken by his own blood. Now, for those of you who've done their homework, I have broken this information down into a tree of stuff. For example: People have thought this may be Sparda in his youth. While this is not a bad thought, Sparda originated from the Demon World, and rebelled against Mundus. His true form is a walking insect, and his human form is slicked back silver hair, with a monical, and purple coat. He was rebellious like Dante, but has the cold demeanor of Virgil. Now, to break this down further, Sparda's twin sons where exact mirror images of Sparda's personality. This is where it gets a bit out there, so I'm going to leave the rest of the information in a spoiler tag. Spoiler:
Dante was rebellious, and Virgil was cold. Vergil's son, Nero, was rebellious like Dante, so which makes me assume if Dante were to have a son, he'd be like virgil Now, either this game is a giant parodox story for Ninja Theory to play around with, this really is dante in his youth, or (in my personal theory) this is just Dante's non-existant son being a smartass, calling himself Dante, while having fun. | I don't care about this at all and for mainly one reason only: original series creator Hideki Kamiya has nothing to do with this. After seeing what Capcom did to RE5 without RE creator Shinji Mikami, I have no hopes for this game at all.
Heavenly Sword looked and sounded terrible, but Enslaved was fine. That said it doesn't really matter because it looks like Ninja Theory has no plans to make this play like the old games. Slower and chunkier is what I'm hearing. This is a real kick in the nuts to me because say what any of you will about God of War-esque games, but I hate them. Japanese developers make way better action games in my book, I still think the Onimusha series and stuff like the first new Ninja Gaiden on the Xbox, or hey DMC 1-4 destroy most modern action games. Anyways that's another topic... Capcom's already jumped ship to me this gen. They've been slipping up a lot these past few years. Lost Planet 2 was a huge step down from the original, it was fun co-op but that was the only way I could play it and it'll probably be something I never touch again. Dark Void was just straight up terrible. Bionic Commando wasn't bad but extremely forgettable. Dead Rising 1-2 are incredibly boring. Don't even get me started on RE5. And this new re-envisioning of DMC just looks stupid. Seriously have you guys looked up the new creator for this one? He sounds pretentious and the new Dante design is practically based off him. And PS if some of you also didn't know the Mega Man creator quit Capcom a few months ago as well. They have no creative staff anymore. (Last edited by Spiral King on 02-15-11 11:31 PM) |
