So Capcom is one of my favorite videogame companies (Apart from Kojima, Epic, and SCEA) and boy are they making some GREAT looking games this year and the next.
Starting out: They introduced to us what fans have been wanting for 10 years. A sequel to Marvel Vs Capcom 2 I was not that surprised when this video hit the internet. We all knew it was coming eventually when Capcom vs Tsnuk -- fuck it game came out on the Wii. And it looks to have a exciting arcade / comic feel to it. This game is gonna be huge, and with new announced characters like the return of Tron Bonne, that dog from Okami, and classics like Captain America / Dr. Doom. It's gonna be a huge fighting game that everyone has to pick up. Megaman Universe certainly came from left field on this one. Basically you get Megaman mixed with crossovers from different capcom games. Mix that in with a customizable megaman, custom level editor, and online co-op. You get this game. Megaman fanatic wet dream. And finally, another fighting game that I never did expect: I'm not sure what to say about this one. I am sure everyone in their right mind would think that this was certainly an interesting concept. Hell, Tekken is bad ass! Going to assume here that it's going to have the same engine as Super Street Fighter 4 or whatever. |

SF vs Tekken is gonna be two games, from what I hear. One is using the SSFIV engine, made by Capcom. The other will use Tekken's engine (aka be a 3D fighter). So both game's fans get something out of it!
Also there was a gameplay vid of Universe. Looks pretty derpy...but we'll see! It is Capcom, after all. (Last edited by Seijika on 09-14-10 05:18 AM) |

Hate to be poopy, but as a diehard Capcom fan for nearly 20 years now myself I have to say I think they've slipped up a good bit within the last few years.
- Losing Devil May Cry creator Hideki Kamiya and Resident Evil creator Mikami kind of stinks. Vanquish, headed by Mikami, looks like it's going to blow everything Capcom's done in the last few years completely out of the water. - Bionic Commando failed pretty hard. I liked it but it wasn't a success and they closed that studio down. The game probably could have been a little more, but I thought it was decent. - Dark Void looked terrible, hated the demo. - RE5 was a tremendous step down from RE4 gameplay wise, and storywise it felt like a fanfic after all the other games. Not one I'm going to care to revisit. - Lost Planet 2 was also a huge step down from the first game in my opinion. I co-oped the game with some friends which was awesome, but also not something I'm going to care to revisit. There was virtually no character/story at all. Even if the first game was utter cheese, at least it felt like a full game. - Dead Rising is one of those games that gets old pretty quickly. 2 looks to be the same, but I might buy that $5 XBLA game of it. All I'm really seeing from Capcom lately that looks like it won't mess up, are fighting games. And it's not a genre I absolutely love or anything. Mega Man Universe looks interesting. But yeah, almost on a sad note I think MM9-MM10 were the best games I've played from them in a long ass time. Devil May Cry 5 looks pretty damn depressing already, now Dante's sporting emo Peter Parker's look if you ask me. Seeing how RE5 turned out without Mikami, I can only wonder what'll happen here without Kamiya. I just don't know what to say about them right now. And I'm still waiting for this gen to get an Onimusha game. |

O_o They really ARE making DMC 5? Wow...I really dropped the ball on that one. I looked up the rumors on it months ago, and I pretty much found that they were never doing another DMC game. 'Least not in the near future.
Truthfully, while I agree with the downside of Capcom as of late, like Xeu pointed out, I still think things are looking better for the company than worse. Dark Void was terrible. I'll grant that, and RE 5 WAS lacking a lot, and the loss of those key players saddened me a little, BUT... Vanquish DOES look like it's going to be fantastic. So...this could possibly be a win for us gamers. Capcom doesn't seem to be dropping the ball entirely, and just because some people left Capcom, doesn't mean they're done for either...so....more for us! |

It's not DMC5, it's a reboot of the entire series led by Capcom USA or something. I'm just going to refer to it as 'Slash Town' as it's totally not DMC in my book.
Unlike Xeo I'm happy to report I've been having good times! Losing Kamiya and Mikami certainly does suck (since he went on to make the HYPER awesome Bayonetta and now Mikami is rocking Vanquish) but I loved RE5, LP2, and will love Dead Rising 2. Bionic Commando was a'ight and I have yet to play Dark Void. Also Rockman 9 and 10 were sweet shiiit. |
