Went and saw "Hail, Caesar!" last night. It was okay. Another of those movies that when it ended, the whole room was silent and inwardly saying to themselves, "I paid first-run theater price for that?"

Also saw "Deadpool"

I thought it was hilarious and wrong, and I loved it. It was well written, the fourth wall breaks had be dying... and nerd things throughout the movie just had me like "But... does this mean... eee"

Deadpool was indeed, incredible. It was a nice change of pace from the PG stuff and I really hope this opens the door for more R rated superhero stuff. No, they don't have to be raunchy and comedic like this, but some darker or more serious/mature stuff could be very awesome. I think they're now talking about shooting for an R rating with Wolverine 3 and the potential X-Force movie.

Definitely check out 10 Cloverfield Lane for John Goodman.

Overall, it was pretty good, but not as insane as some of the hype led me to believe it would be haha. Guess that's how it usually goes though.

Guys, I liked Batman vs Superman.

Lex Luthor was OMEGA CRINGE... one of the worst casting choices and performances I've ever seen.

Beyond that though, it certainly wasn't perfect, and I'm not a big fan of Synder, but I had fun with this and am looking forward to more DC movies.

I'm only interested in seeing Aquaman. And even then, only because I like the actor.

As an action movie it was ok... but as a DC movie, I absolutely hated it. The plot made almost no sense. Neither Batman or Superman would ever act like Snyder thinks they do. Not even going to get started on Doomsday...

Wonder Woman didn't have enough screen time to be screwed up yet. Ben Affleck was actually a good Bruce Wayne, and I think he would have been good as Batman if they had written Batman right... but beyond that, I can say nothing good about it.

Wonder Woman was pretty cool I thought.

Anyways, I'm way more excited for Apocalypse and Civil War. Outside of Batman, I've always been more of a Marvel guy I guess.

Yeah I have also always preferred Marvel to DC... I think I just like how their characters are more realistic in their behavior and development. Wonder Woman wasn't bad in the movie at all, but I am just expecting for her to be screwed up like the others because Snyder thinks they should be darker... DC characters are not dark! At least not like he wants them to be.

Well honestly I might like Affleck more than Bale's Batman. But Keaton is still my favorite.

... outside of Kevin Conroy of course.

I still haven't seen it. For some reason I just keep dragging my heels on several of the blockbusters. I mean, hell, I only finally saw "Force Awakens" a little less than two weeks ago.

I guess I'm also throwing in on saying I'm more excited about "Apocalypse" than any of the others. Hell, if I only got the choice to watch one more superhero movie this year, I think I'd just watch "Deadpool" again.

Yeah Deadpool is contender for MOTY for sure... haha.

Feeling superhero burnout? I know I have been for years, but I've always enjoyed the bigger group stuff.

I have a bit of burnout, I suppose... but I still go see them.

So... they are making an animated version of the Killing Joke, speaking of Kevin Conroy.

I was excited at the prospect of a "Civil War" movie, years ago. But... well, it's just not going to be anything like the comics. It just looks like a small skirmish between a group of friends over Bucky/Winter Soldier rather than a whole universe against itself over whether or not the heroes should reveal themselves, register, and serve the government vs. maintain their ultimate power and freedom.

Yes, I'm definitely burned out on superhero movies. Doesn't help that I haven't had the patience or interest to read/follow any superhero comics in quite a long time.

Perhaps the only thing close to it that I'm looking forward to would be the animated "The Killing Joke" that will be out soon, with Kevin Conroy voicing Batman again.

That is the big issue with these "Hero/Group vs Hero/Group" types. Over the snap of a finger they become buddies and join forces to fight the big baddie. That was definitely something I disliked about Batman vs Superman here. It escalated so quickly, and washed over so quickly. What can you do I guess, lol.

The only time in recent memory that I liked an ensemble superhero movie was "Guardians of the Galaxy," but even when they were "buddies," they still love/hate'd each other. I've disliked all of the Avengers movies (though some moments were enjoyable), I almost outright hate everything Fantastic Four, and I haven't truly liked an X-Men movie since the first Bryan Singer era.

I think the only group hero flick I'd be interested in seeing any time soon would be whenever they get off their asses and finally make the "Runaways," which they keep saying every year that they'll make and then drop just before they announce the next wave. For fuck's sake, Marvel, make some goddamn female-led films already! I guess the question is will that phase 3 "Captain Marvel" movie be about Carol Danvers (like most fans want) or the male one, Mar-Vell?

I hope it is about Carol Danvers. I think there might be riots otherwise.

At least their TV shows have mostly been female-led. Agent Cart, Jessica Jones, and Agents of Shield all have strong women leading the cast.

Yeah, you can say that Agents of Shield is more of an ensemble cast, and I've only seen two seasons, but I think Sky/Daisy is definitely the most important character to the plot.

That is true... and yeah, they are doing a lot of stuff to elevate Sky (still weird to call her Daisy)... though it really has been a show designed to give a launching point for the Inhumans, so not surprising. I also LOVE Agent May.
