| Yeah, I know I make a thread for this every other year, but what the hell is this Patriot Day Celebration business? The parks in my area are having parties and concerts to commemorate the Sept. 11 attacks.
It always weirds me out that people attach more than a moment of silence or flag-at-half-staff to a day that some spend in solemn mourning and contemplation. It's like taking Holocaust Remembrance Day and throwing a big Oktoberfest celebration for it. Well I guess we all need to occasional reminder that we're alive? |

| Well I do color guard on 9-11 every year. So since I started my job at TSYS... I can't though. I didn't celebrate that day, I contributed to helping memorialize it. | |||

| Weird. I thought I'd posted a response to this last night. Oh well.
Here's what I remember typing out. Or at least the gist of it: Memorializing is one thing. Having a big drunken party ala Cinco de Mayo, St. Patrick's Day, etc, is another entirely. Especially when you theme it after something that hit the country in a rather emotionally-tolling way. |
