| A taste of what it was like. Some video major student filmed this documentary on the Magic: The Gathering nerds in the Student Life Center, and I swear to god, I know almost EVERY one of those magic nerds whom he documented. Enjoy.

| I know this is a bump, but I felt this deserved a response, and I know bumps are okay as long as they aren't "Lol that was kool."
So I'll start with film technique. Only two comments. 1) Didn't have a focus on anything. I was this far away from just being "lol magic." They could have focused on why it's popular, what outside people think of it, why it's good/bad, anything. Instead they just mashed up some interviews. 2) Would have put the blowjob comments after the asking the guy if he ever got girls, but that's just a minor thing. I've thought about of doing a documentary on Magic, focusing on the phenomenon it is (I mean, it's been around 14 years, is worldwide, is nearly a household name, inspired things that ARE household names), and this has made me reconsider it. Also, about some of the things people said. That last chick I agree with 100 percent. I mean, I'm sure that guy that asked what they learned from it does tons of things that you don't learn from. And you do learn in some sense. Math skills, logic, problem solving, memory, and most important SOCIALIZING. People don't get that. It's not so much that the game is fun, but it's a fun thing to do while hanging out with friends. And it's definitely got that over WoW, or any online game. |
