One remains hospitalized after deadly accident: One person remains hospitalized this morning after a one-vehicle accident on the Kansas Turnpike last night that killed a teenage Wichita girl and injured several other members of her family. Capt. John Walters of the Kansas Turnpike Authority said 13-year old Kinnie Hall died shortly after 8:45 p.m. when her stepfather swerved to avoid a slow-moving van about a mile north of the K-96 exit. The southbound Honda sports utility vehicle struck the concrete retaining wall in the center median and rolled several times back across the highway. Hall was not wearing a seatbelt, Walters said, and died at the scene. Christopher Blake, 33, the driver of the SUV, is in fair condition at Wesley Medical Center. Cody Hall, 14, and a woman authorities identified as Jolene Blake, 33, were both treated and released from Via Christi Regional Medical Center's St. Francis campus. Dalton Blake, 9, and Tristen Blake, 8, were transported to Wesley Medical Center but did not require treatment. >> You will always remain in my heart. |
