<_>

Wow, how long has this been done? I guess I always looked to see if they were visible at all. My idea was having them not displayed at all, so I guess that threw me off.

But I did it

Maybe its me being the extremely straight forward and static person that I am, but I've always wanted it to automatically turn off UC's for banned users. It just seems to me, that it should just simply be that way.

I've TRIED to implement that action more than a few times, and I couldn't figure it out (coding). There's my excuse.

Logos is so completely right, at the moment, Elara. Being on good terms with the officials is how you keep from getting in trouble.

Being a productive member doesn't keep you from getting banned... Otherwise every single one of the 0 post members would be banned, yes?

We have no written rules, other than rules that should be stupidly obvious to begin with. In my oppinion, the faq should be purged of all Dos and Don'ts, and only include things like "How do I post?" etc.

I say, that we should weed out the bad eggs by NOT showing them the rules... Making it easier to break them! Cracking down! That's why police officers hide behind things so you can't see them until their sirens are on and you're pulled over! We want troublemakers gone to begin with, so why not get rid of them?

Flaming is illegal ANYWAY... make user comment flames easier, so that people who are senseless enough to do it are caught earlier on, so that they don't infect the board earlier...

Just keep a close eye on those UCs of Banned users, and then issue your little warnings to people who touch them.

Well yes, doing things like hacking the board (not listed in the faqs because it's considered a common sense rule) does tend to get on the staff's bad side.

But on the actual topic of the thread, I think that it is childish to flame a banned member's UC. Even if they are permenately banned.

I mean no offense, but laws don't emote, people do. That's why a government has laws. People can adjust to laws, but in the absense of any, tend to be brutal. Or at least mean, in the case of flaming banned members' UC, whether they deserve it or not.

Actually, being a productive member of the board keeps you from getting banned, and then only if you follow the rules/common sense of the board.

Common sense is an absurd term, as it assumes that there is any virtue in being common. A government may have rules, but on most boards, the only rule is don't get on a governing agent's bad side.

HEY, I got temp banned. No pattern...

You're on good terms with the current governing agents right now, aren't you? That's what decides if you get banned or not.

Actually, for once I agree with Logos (well, technically he's agreeing with me, since I brought up the subject). It just isn't nice to flame someone when they can't respond or anything. And as I said, it can create more hostility.

No, it's not one of the central points... more like the icing on the cake! ^____^

Seriously, isn't kicking people when they can't defend themselves one of the central points of this board? No sarcasm intended, of course.

Well, normally when we ban, we just disable them.

But sometimes it's not worth it (like bots, a while ago)
