The thing that bugged me is that very few people really gave a rats ass about
so-called "patriotism" until it happened. Before then everyone was a bunch of jerks
it took thousands of deaths to open peoples eyes and that only opened them up tp
dollar signs.

The Human race is a fucked up self serving species, not to say that I'm any better,
I'm sure I'm just as bad as everyone else. It still irritates the hell out of me though
when they act like that.

Buildings got blown up, people died, we attacked an entire COUNTRY over a
couple of buildings. Move on and get a grip.

In the matter of the movie I'm not that interested in it simply because disaster films
like that aren't really my thing. *shrugs* I might catch it sometime but I'm not going
to set out to see it.

I don't even know if I would watch it once it came out on DVD. Just the fact that people are saying shit like "you're not American if you don't see this" makes me refuse to. It might actually be a good movie, but people like that can turn me away in a heart beat. Same thing happened with the original event... I quit caring after 40 minutes because of the way my mom was acting... and the people selling flags for months after just backed it up.

It was a national tragedy, and all people care about is pretending to be patriotic in order to cash in on it.

So, apparently Hollywood can create a movie about it and be mildly accepted, but I can't write a story about it because it's still too early and should write about something like the Holocaust (as paraphrased from comments on a fiction submission website).

Dammit, if I wanna write a story about 9/11 set in science fiction the day after the incident, I can damn well please do whatever the fuck I want!

But, I'm not paying to see the movie. I can wait until DVD or bootleg. I wanna see if they use the ill-proven pancake theory.

w00t Nicholas Cage. I wish it was about a fictional disaster. Would have been the same movie, and I would probably see it. But then they don't get the extra publicity.

I usually read my movie reviews in the San Francisco Chronicle, which is my favourite newspaper.

I agree that I wouldn't really want to go see it, but if someone invited me, I would be fine seeing it. Kind of like what happened with the last Harry Potter movie... Twice. I hate it when different people invite me to the same movie.

Not to say that it's a bad movie, I haven't seen it after all, but it does seem to feed off of propaganda and patriotism a bit too much for my taste. On the other hand, I do love Nicolas Cage, definately one of my favourite actors.

I heard that this movie got fairly good reviews. I read one in the paper today (it was a local one, so it wasnt a very reliable source I suppose) and it got 4 out of 4 stars, not for the fact that if they didn't give it a perfect score they were pretty much considered terrorists, but for the fact that the film actually turned out being good.

When I first saw the trailers, I thought it'd be a film fueled only by propaganda and patriotism, and then I let my heart thaw a little bit and figured I should at least give it a chance before I say its sole intention is to empower someone, somewhere, somehow politically.

I'm still not gonna see it, on account of the fact that it just doesn't look that interesting. If someone was like "Wanna go see a movie?" I'd be like "Sure." and if they said "Okay World Trade Center, okay?" I'd be like "Fine by me." It's one of those cases.

Wow, Ashton, you have been making some very good points recently *claps*

It was a big deal, but we do need to move on. There are things going on that are ten times worse, and they are going on now.

But on a similar topic, I highly reccomend watching the movie that I linked on my earlier post.

I thought it would have been funny if at the end of the trailer for it, it had said "Based on true events"

Yeah, I'm probably not going to bother seeing this, ever. People need to move on from 9/11, it wasn't even that big a deal. People make such a big deal about it, but nobody gives a fuck when thousands of people in Africa die of starvation daily, or when hundreds of innocent Iraqis get kills.

But yeah, they probably should have opened it on 9/11.

Well, I think it will be a good movie in itself. A good drama, with good acting. Unfortunately, I also think it will enforce all of the bullshit around 9/11.

And on a side note, they missed a major marketing opportunity. They should have waited a month and opened it on September 11. Duh.

A thread just had to be started about this eventually.

I haven't gone to see it and I doubt I will while it's in theaters, but all ready I've been hearing people arguing that if you don't see this film and love it with every inch of your soul, you're not a good American.

How can anyone claim such a thing? It's just a movie, and moreso one that's trying to rake in the big bucks claiming it's the must-see film because of the controversy surrounding it and such.

It's just another Brokeback Mountain or Passion of the Christ.

Anyone have any thoughts on it?
