I'm not saying that Shamans suck. I personally think they're one of the best.

I was just trying to say that the new races having the cross-Alliance/Horde wasn't a bad thing that the thread originally was pointing at.

I fully support the updates in the new expansion and I'm just boggled by how many people are saying that it will ruin it. They're only classes. It's not the end of WoW, like everybody is making it out to be.

Um...people will totally play Dranei shamans because...well they're fucking shamans.
And it will totally affect the gameplay, because everybody will be playing the other races and classes.

I don't really think that the classes that they get will really make a difference. In my opinion, Paladins are just watered-down warriors with buff spells and I honestly don't think that Shamans are going to be played by the Draenei as much to make much of a difference. They seem much more of the type to be played as either Warriors or Warlocks, just basing them on appearence.

On the other hand, everybody else in WoW seems to be Paladin biased and defend them to the teeth, so I don't know about blood elves.

I heard one of my friends saying that the blood elves would make terrible Rogues because of their racial ability, but I don' t know how that would be possible.

Either way, it doesn't really suck that much because it doesn't change the game for you unless you become one yourself, so if you think it sucks, just don't play as one of the new races with one of those classes.

Unless you're talking of course about RPing and the games overall story, because then I can hold some sentiment with you.

But personally, I think any race should be able to play any class (for the sake of playing). I was bummed when I figured out that I couldn't be a spellcaster with a Night Elf.

Anyway, I'm getting a bit off topic, so I'll shut up now

No, there will be a patch for those players that don't buy the expansion. It will include things such as skins for the new racess and weapons etc.

Also, Dranei will be able to play Shamans and Paladins.

I heard it may be a patch instead of expansion...

Yeah, the blood elves got a ability to absorb energy from enemy spells are something, and then release the built up power in one blast that is very devestating. The Draenei I have no clue about, but they have to be pretty good for being semi demonic like people... Maybe since they are interdemensional traverlers, they can fade from a demension for a few seconds to break combat or something...

Um....yea....that won't happen, because the new races will still be there, even if you can't play them...

did they announce the racial abilities? If so, then....I'm gonna check them out...

Sorry to bust your bubble on all of this, but it is very simple WHY Shaman and Paladins arent exclusive. Let us look at the history of both races for a quick second. Blood Elves, formerly High Elves of the Grand Alliance, were a offshot of nightelves that decided to live in the sun (thus the change from moonwell to sunwell.). Although we never actually see a paladin Blood Elf during Warcraft 3 FT, that does not mean that there were paladin blood elves. When they sided with the naga and Illidian so that they could live, they became a part of the horde who was faceing the same enemy, Deathknight Arthas. It is only natural that when they joined the horde that they would bring their paladins with them, allowing the Horde Blood Elves to use the Paladin class.

The Draenei on the otherhand, are a race of demon-like people. Their people fell prey to the burning legion, thus giveing rise to the leader of Burning Legion that Grom Hellscream and Thrall destroyed near Hyjal. Way before that day came, back before the demons and orcs ever crossed paths, the Draenei were fleeing from the legions wrath. They arrived in the orcs homeworld, and befriended the spirtualist orcs. The two races coincided for many years, and the orc homeworld became Draenor. But suddenly the Legion arrived on a mission to kill the Draenei who would not join them in their goals, and enslaved the orcs in a attempt to overpower the few Draenei left. The Draenei fled in their interdemensional ship, and crash landed on Azeroth. Being natural enemies of the legion, the alliance took them in and they became part of the Grand Alliance. Due to the lengthy amount of time the Draenei spent with the orcs (who coincidently have shaman as a class), it can be assumed that the Draenei picked up their shamanistic powers from the orcs in the time that they were friends.

Now with that said, we now have to specualte on some things... If the Draenei and Orcs were friends with one another at one time, will the Draenei have a Neutral standing with the Orcs and be permitted to enter Orgimmar? If so, then perhaps the Blood Elves can enter a alliance city without being killed on sight, though I doubt that since they were branded as traitors to the crown and were sentenced to death for taking help from the naga in their time of need. One things for sure, the racial ability of the Blood Elves (from what I heard) ROCKS. Now we just have to wait and see if it really does rock out loud or not in the game.

You might want the expansion pack because the Blood Elf male does the Napolean Dynamite dance and the Draenei get the Tunak Tunak Tun dance. And yes, I'm basing this on dancing. I don't know what the females get, though.

How I know this? My brother has been playing WoW for a long time(he's not a crack addict for that game, which is seriously a miracle, since he's been playing it for ohhh...a year or more now?). Last time I talked to my brother about WoW(long time ago), he said Shamans were bastards in CTF because they could switch to wolf form and grab the flag. Did that change?

Blizzard has officially announced that in their new expansion pack, Burning Crusade, the Horde will be able to play Paladins, and Alliance will be able to play Shaman

In the upcoming expansion, players will finally be able to play classes that were previously unavailable to their faction. The blood elves have harnessed the power of the Light for their own needs, and the Horde recognizes the value of these renegade blood elf paladins. Meanwhile, the draenei have been granted the wisdom and strength of the elements, and a number of draenei now follow the path of the shaman. Read on to learn more about the new class combinations available to players of World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade.

Frankly put, this sucks...

The exclusive races were designed to be symbols of their faction. Alliance was the holy warriors, and the Horde is the holistic people in touch with nature.
