go to church and every time you find yourself near a cross look at it in horror and hiss....if your parents ask why, hide your fangs and say you have something in your throat that is bothering you, perhaps incense...but continue......on the way out and in when they attempt to put holy water on you then back away and hiss and recite the hail mary backwards (this will be the hard part).....turn around, bare your fangs and run outside and throw the fangs into the bushes, but above all....total seriousness, when your parants ask you what happened mutter something about a "great spirit" (feel free to embelesh with your own artistic liscense here) and refuse to speak of it again, if you are up to it , feel free to break down into tears at this point, it will really clinch the deal it will work.....i got out of a week of catholic school while the more superstitious nuns tried to convince themselves that it was just a prank and i was never forced into the church again |

When in church, think of football, or some sport you like, hell it's gotten me through church the 5 or 6 times I've ever been there.
I'm afraid these days if I walk into a church, I'll burst into flames or something.  |

i went to church, and I'm discordian. I had fun. view it as a chance to learn about a group of people. the more you know about a religion the less they will be able to try to convert you when you can point out all the discrepencies in the text they base their faith on. |

I know that it sucks, but seriously you really are just going to have to put up with it until you are 18. You can try talking to your parents about your beliefs, but expect nothing but arguing to ensue... my mom condemned me to hell and all that shit when she found out I was Wiccan and that was only a few months ago.
The trick in talking to them is to truly know what you are talking about before you begin. I studied many different religions in school and such, and my mom freely admits that I know more about world religions that she does so she does listen to me when I talk (she just doesn't accept a lot of it). Don't be insulting, do not yell or swear at them, be respectful and keep your tone even and you should come out of it alright. If they still make you go do not look at it as having the religion forced on you, see it as studying a different culture and as a way to show respect to your parents and their beliefs... because if you cannot respect their beliefs how can you expect them to ever respect yours? As for the religous/science debate going on, please keep that in the debate forum and not in Sunset. Thank you. |

Can you prove that God does not exist? Or the evolution made us, or even that you exist in a human body? No? Then an open mind always works.
But, like siad, just take it, go along with it until you're 18, and you'll survive. It never hurts to take a couple hours out of your week you respect your family. |

Spartan...you have to remember that people on this board have the same religion. I know that you're upset about this whole thing, but please try to be a bit more understanding to everyone else.
And Zabuza has a point. Just take it until you're old enough to say, "No" and be viewed as an adult. A lot of the time, Christian parents (not all of them) aren't understanding to what their children want. My mom had parents who were preachers, and she's not Christian... Yes, it's being forced on you and I understand why you're mad and pissed at them for doing so. I'm not going to say that they'll listen to you, because they most likely won't...but I mean...at least they care enough to attempt to save you from that hell that may or may not exist. And when you are old enough to say "No, I don't like this and I want no part" expect for your parents to dislike your opinion and don't expect them to be very understanding. If you want to be of a different religion, or have no religion, you have to make sacrifices... Or you can be like my family and just not talk about religion.  That one works too. |

I remember a long time ago in a post far far away when I diddnt have an open mind. I seriously got bashed at because I felt that Wiccans were just a bunch of posers...
But just as Cairoi said, getting baptised dosent turn you into a christian, Im a southern Baptist and by getting baptised, the only thing that happens is your sins are clensed...It dosent turn you into a christian unless you have accepted Jesus Christ as your lord and Savior... Oh yeah, and dont worry, Im not offended by what you said. ( LOL, I dont know why in the hell I said that...like it wouldent matter if I said it anyways...Meh) When I was with my cousin Gary for the time he was down here, he was a satanist, and I was great friends with him. We smoked pot together, I attended his meetings, and he even went to church with me. Now thats what I call respect right there... Edit- Err, correction, I believe he was Pagen, My bad.... |

First of all Spartan, religon isn't for the weakminded. I'm intelligent and I have my own view on religon that's independant yet just as strong as theirs.
You think they're being ignorant but you yourself are as well. You claim there is no God, no heaven, no hell...But do you honestly know that? I'm not saying I believe in it, but isn't it better to keep an open mind and try to take into account all sides of the religious spectrum? Getting baptised doesn't change the way you feel on the inside. By Catholic terms it removes your original sins, it doesn't make you a Christian. And honestly, I don't believe in Christianity, but I go whenever I sleep over Xeios' on a Saturday. Why? Because I respect his dad's belief in a God and am willing to show respect by attending. You don't have to believe, but showing respect to all sides mean if they're actually right, you'll be more respected. |

Just talk to the paster/minister who should be more understanding than your parents. If the head honcho does not understand then go to the church, when it is your time to get baptised. Read a speech that you have prepared that insults your family and their religion. Walk out and give everyone the finger. You'll never be welcomed back in the church again XD |
