I honestly haven't been a fan of Rhapsody's latest albums, Power of the Dragonflame, Symphony of the Enchanted Lands II, etc.
Their first real album, Symphony of the Enchanted Lands has always been my favorite. Dawn of Victory is really good also, much more symphonic though. |

Heh, I really got into Rhapsody when I saw their "Live In Canada - The Dark Secret" album. I remembered that they weren't half bad, and it's live in Montreal. So I picked it up and now I absolutely love Rhapsody. |

So I got King of the Nordic Twilight, and I was pretty blown away.
Luca Turilli is the main writer / lead guitarist for Rhapsody. An incredible Symphonic Power Metal band, after hearing that he's released a few Solo albums, I had to get one. Yeah it's true, it sounds almost exactly like Rhapsody. The only real difference in the music, is the vocals. They're a little higher, and sound more like Bruce Dickinson (although, in Italian ... )
But man is this stuff great. Honestly I've enjoyed this album even more than a handful of Rhapsody albums (especially their newer ones, which aren't that great). I'm not always in the mood for this fast paced, epic heavy classical and instrumental stuff, but seriously this guy know's what he's doing, and in terms of blending all of these elements into Metal, I haven't heard another band out there that can compare (not even Symphony X). Sure, it's cheesy, but does that really mean it's bad? Any other fans of Rhapsody / Luca? |
