I can see where this is coming from...

Really the change in color is designed to make people FEEL better instead of it being like the person feeling bad when he or she reads the paper only to find it swarmed in blood and feeling bad about it...I guess it helps them that they need to improve, thats why theyre changing the color I suppose...

I can see where there getting this from, because certain colors will change people's moods, just like blue makes people mellow and such, I just dont see the point to having to switch it. Like Makura said, the color of the corrections dosnt change the grade you got.

Yeah that was what I said. Whether you missed fifteen on zero the color doesn't change th grade you got.

Purple makes kids feel batter.
That's retarded. Back in my day, all we got was red. AND a frowny face. And we were damn happy to have THAT.
You whippersnappers.

I can see a good point here with the whole anti-red thing. People have often used red to represent bad things, for example, during the cold war people referred to the communists as "the reds". Another example is how the devil is often depicted(in red). So I can see where people would want to move away from red, but PURPLE, come on. That's just not cool to me.

Meh, I prefer purple anyway... and I suppose that it does make sense psychologically.

Sorry but you know you've got a crappy paper when its corrected in crayon.

The corrections' color does not bother me at all, instead it just points out where I need to improve.

At first I thought you were talking about fashion statements in todays world reading that topic...I lol'd...

But yeah, all of my teachers do that around here...well, my school does that to relieve agression just like you said. Not to mention the department of Education stated that to our teachers 2 weeks ago, My Homeroom Teacher Mr. Marino wanted to make a debate about it...so yeah, im pretty shocked it would come to Xeogaming about this manner...

I think its a better Idea...Just as everyone says, it makes it easier on the students because they see red as a color for agression, and purple as a color as a cooling feeling...

I hate red marks on papers. They give you a feeling that goes up your spine and into your neck and sort of makes things stiffen a bit... things like, you're neck, you know.

Green marks are always just so crappy... you know that if a paper is marked in green that that paper doesn't mean anything.

But purple is a royal color. Purple would make me happy no matter what grade I got.

Makes sense.

Whenever we editors copy-edit stories at the newspaper, it's preferred that we don't use red ink or pencil because of how discouraging it can be too look at. Copy-editing isn't meant to make you feel bad about your errors, but rather to let you learn and improve on your writing.

Red is harsh on the eyes, especially when looking at a paper covered in red corrections.

A teacher brought this up a few days ago. There is a newpaper article floating around that says instead of correcting papers in red, teachers should correct in purple. It is said to have the authority of red without the agression.

I found this pretty interesting. So I propose a question: Which do you prefer?

Would it matter to you if you're paper looked serene and happy instead of looking like it was bleeding to death?
