"Poker?! I'm freaking in."
John threw his hand under the seat and pulled the chips out. He threw the chips onto the back and climbed back there, making a seat for himself. He looked around at the others, who only seemed a mild bit uncomfterable. Well, with John's lackluster mechanical skills, this was the best he could do. But, everyone had enough room to sleep and not be on top of each other. John pondered that last thought for a second before laughing and snapping back to reality. The fire sheild lowered and flickered away, He shut his hatch and locked it once more. He turned his eyes left and right, and pressed his back up against the side of the car. This was pretty stuffed, but there was enough room for all of them...barely...He shot a sideways glance at Kaylee who stood for some unknown reason. He shrugged and pulled out a deck of cards.
"So, who wants in on this, we'll do some Hold 'em some Omaha and some Rummy if we get tired of poker. I hid some chips under the seat where John is..." Leon shuffled the cards rapidly, and looked around to see who was in... |

"Kaylee, please sit down. The ride's going to be 12 hours if we aren't stopped for any reason."
John reached over and grabbed his T-shirt, putting it back on. He yawned a little before looking ahead. "There's Interstate 78 up ahead. We got to get onto I-78 West. Dude, Leon, the shield can go down now." |

It gave the others more room, and it was kinda hard to sit down while holding a longbow* "How long will it take us to get to Altantic City?" *She remembered John mentioning Atlantic City. He said he went there on leave a few times. She didn't look forward to seeing what it had become.* |

John climbed up to the front right seat in the car, settling in and breathing getting gradually better. He opened the glove department and pulled out a map, previously examined and marked by John himself. He opened it and examined it for a second before folding it back to normal.
"There's what's left of Atlantic City. Let's head there. It'll be a long drive, but we should be good." John sighed and looked out the window to see the thin line of fire and looked back at Leon. "We're fine. Deactivate the shield." |

Natalie was gripping the wheel so tightly that by the time she realized it, circulation was being cut off. She glanced back over her shoulder to make sure everyone had gotten into the vehicle. "I don't know." She said, in response to Leon. "We just need to get away from here!" She shouted as she once again slammed her foot on the gas pedal. |

Leon closed his hatch and dropped to the floor. He clenched his fist and fire began to start around the car, not touching it but very close to all of the sides except the top. The shadow creatures were being repelled and severly disliked this light. Well, they were out, but...where to now...

*Kaylee dodged aside to let John in through the hatch. She still remained at her post though, making sure that the Shadows stayed off the car. She's say like that until ordered otherwise... it's what her Johnny would've done.*

Kirabo threw the door downwards and simotaneously turned back into the fox form. He slid under the door, a hair away from being slammed between its metal edge and the ground below. He padded quickly just behind the ever quickening tires of the car.
"HEY! DO SOMETHING HERE, I CAN'T JUMP THAT HIGH!" "Oh damn! Why did that happen? Here!" Wiley used a nonsignificant ammount of energy to form Kirabo from a fox to something, anything small with wings. He hadn't a clear picture in his head; in the heat of the moment, it had to be whatever it became. With luck, Kirabo flew into the back, a white fluttering mass the same size as the fox form. He landed on the shoulder of Wiley's chair. "Well, you can think on the fly, but from the looks of it..." "Oh wow. That might not always have the prettiest outcomes..." White was an odd color for bats, things usually thought of as darker. It held similar qualities as that of the fox; rather large ears, the rainbow eyes. His leathery wings and body was lightly covered in whitish fur. "You just get weirder and weirder." "Change me back, now that we're moderatley safe..." |

"Damnit all!"
John growled loudly as more shadows came at him, anger rising. He knew this impending wave of shadows were the only thing standing in his way now. He ran at them, his right hand pulled back over his chest, focusing on all the energy he had. He stopped on a dime 6ft before the shadows, throwing all the Croma he could into the sword. He knew he had the greatest mastery here, this might suprise them. "RAAAAAAA!!" The sword expanded exponentially, growing into one of massive proportions. He let off the slash, killing all the shadows with one fell swoop. He cursed as he felt his body droop with stress, the toil a little too much for him. He dashed forward, catching up to the car and leaping up onto the roof, doing a clean roll into the hatch. He slipped through Leon and the others, landing on the mattress. He screamed to others immeaditly after, his face still dug inside the mattress. "SHUT THE DOOR DAMNIT AND LET'S GO!" |

"Shoot those that are coming IN, John's got the ones on the inside!" Wiley shouted to the people doing the actual work. If he couldn't do anything about these villains, he could at least try to point them in the right direction.

"NO! SHUT THE DOOR FIRST!"
John dashed about like a madman, slicing the beasts. With each slash, he felt a bit of guilt wash away, and he became more at peace. He slid about, making carefully released attacks that severed the beast's in two in record time. Sweat began to pour from his head, and he began to worry if he could hold out. He ran at the car, vanishing his sword and grabbing at his shirt. It was too much of an obstacle. He jumped up onto the side of the car, running upwards, and he managed to take his shirt off. He kicked off the car and did a backflip, narrowly gliding over pursuing shadow beasts. His grand move however caust him his balance and cursed him to fall straight onto the ground back up. He cursed and rolled backwards, avoiding another attack. He kicked up and summoned the blade again, slashing at them. "Hurry up...Damnit!" |

At once Natalie put the key in the ignition and with the flick of the wrist, turned it. The car suddenly roared to life.
"Hold on!" Natalie exclaimed. For once, she wasn't going to be scolded for having a led foot. She slammed on the gas pedal and the car jerked forward. Shadow creatures seemed to be everywhere now...and even began to approach the car. With her right hand on the wheel, she frantically rolled down the window, pressing every button on the pannel until she pressed the correct one. "John! Get in the car!" She shouted out the window as the vehicle slowed down as she neared John. |

Leon tapped Natalie on the shoulder and screamed,
"Drive, we can go now, we'll grab John just outside!!!" Leon opened up his hatch and began launching fire to keep the shadows back. He did not intend to hit many of them, but mainly to scare them away. |

Jake snapped to attention, as he scrambled into the car, and slammed it, as he aimed his arm out towards the wretches, and remembered his crash course in his strange gift. "Focus...." He refocused, not about to lose his focus, and repeated his shots as best he could... |

John smiled at Wiley as the cold breeze entered the room. It was mild for a Feburary day, but still cold by yearly standards. He motioned for the others to follow his lead, throwing his arm in the air. Suddenly, the various shadows trolling about the outside became aware of John's existence. They cocked their bodies and launched forward, hungering for his flesh. He smiled as they closed in, extending his right hand. The beasts seemed to completly surround John for a second, his form dissepearing behind the darkness. A light flashed from the darkness and in a second, the beasts burst into balls of black smoke. John stood in the center of the smoke, a pillar of light emnating from his hand. It hummed a little and released a white fire-like substance, a release of the concentrated Croma. He growled and charged forward, expertly slashing the beasts enclosing on him. He seemed to be a real swordsman, swinging precisely and swiftly. He finished off the shadows near him and turned back to the others.
"HURRY!" John turned back and watched more shadows approaching. None on the inside. None would pass his blade. |

"I suppose I've gotta take the first action. You all are ready? Well, clearly... okay. I'd brace yourselves."
Kirabo, who sat upon Wiley's lap, suddenly changed. At first glance it didn't seem like anything new; the Hand which had been used to turn the pages in the books and help pick the provisions from the field. But, this time around, it was much larger. Even through the thin white glove you could seen the strong sinews, a promising sign figuring the door may need to be open for a while. He floated from within the car to outside, to the handle of the garage door. "Mrmf... why didn't they just install a button or something... rrff..." Kirabo held a tight grip on the handle. Without any sort of suspense or acknowledgment to go, he lifed the door. A cold outside air crept in under the slowly rising door. Wiley focused his energy for Kiraob's use, and waited for the car to roll. |

Natalie looked back over her shoulder and smiled at Kaylee. "You'll do fine! No worries!" She called up to her. "Oh, and by the way...I'm Natalie. I appologize for not personally introducing myself to you guys just yet." She says, looking up at Kaylee and then over in Wiley's direction.
