i love ross's class for history 10. i had him on a friday morning at 9 two semesters ago. he never told us any mixed stories or anything like that. i can say he was one of my best history teacher of all time. i got an A.
first test i got a C i think second, i got a B third i got an A (it was a 100 question T/F take home exame. all were true except for 4 lol) finals, i'm sure i got an A. we had a group project, in which we were supposed to meet out of class and all of that. 3 groups. women's rights, native american reparations, african-american reparations. he randomly assigns you into a group, and you make a mock trial out of it, along with an individual essay, so i'm guessing it's worth 2 exams. first group got a C, the sucked ass. second group got a C, they too sucked ass. my group, the last one, got an A. then he was all, i'll bump the other two group to a B. anyways, i really liked him. never had trouble with him. i'm just sad that i havent seen his name in the list anymore. |

Originally posted by avatar of law The guy I had was named Melvin Ross. I'd heard mixed stories about him: that every other semester he's an ass and the rest of the time he's fine. I was supposed to get him on a "fine" semester. No such luck. He went on tirades about how stupid "the white man" is. When someone brought up the question of the Vikings discovering the land here, he stared at the student blankly and said, "The who?" ;;; I'm also finding that my current political science instructor is also teaching distorted facts. He ranted about how good and honest our founding fathers were and then talking about the intolerable acts. When he got to the part about the Boston Tea act, he said, "So thy were throwing the tea into the harbor and then they noticed one of their guys was putting some tea in his pockets. Well, they didn't like that, since that was against what they were standing for and so they made him walk naked through the town and people could throw rocks and him and everything. I don't know if he lived or not, but yeah." Um.. did you get a name? From what I understand, the protestors ceremoniously threw some of the tea off of the ship, but most of it was carted away. Of course, you're going to tell people that you threw it all overboard. Just like Jefferson "never bedded slaves" and Washington "never told a lie." |

it was a black guy, named mitchell. i'm sure it's the same guy.
anyways, my political class also sucked. he guy is an obvious conservative republician. he kept bringing up oregon and euthanasia, and hinted on how he wanted schools to have prayer sessions and whatnot. i was like... yeah -.-' i'm dropping you too. so i found two other political science classes that starts after that one. i have a choice between a lady who sent her class out an hour early, or another guy who was really red. i choose the lady. a good choice too. anyways, i asked if i can join her earlier class, and she's all yeah, but you have to reg with this one. i guess because since the current class had a little attendence, that she needed to keep the 20 minimum enrolled otherwise i'd get cancled. what a sly lady, but i was onto her ;p |

Who did you have for history, avatar?
I've had a few nutjob teachers in that department. The last one I has was a former Black Panther (History 10 class) and he spent the whole first day going on about how slavery robbed his people of their greatness, how Columbus was an asshole (though I agree to that one), and how the Mexicans stole the idea of the pyramid from the "black man". I ended up just not coming back mid-semester. |

originally i'm taking:
M/W Environmental Science M/W History 1A: Western civilization (Dropped) M Political Science 1 W community police academy TH Intro correction randomness computer, beginning type B. yeah, because it's required to take a computer class to graduate or w/e. M/W physical geography (new class) anyways... computer classes are such a major ripoff -.-' first off... it's a 1 Unit class, and the catalog says it's required to do 2 hours a week, but nooooo, they want you to do 3 hours for a damn 1 unit class. and not only is the ratio bad, but the damn required book is $100 -.-' seriously now, i already know how to type, i'm only taking this as a joke, but $100 and 3 hours a week?! -.-' anyways, my history teacher was a nutcase. first off another class took our class, so we had to wonder around the halls for like 20 min looking for an open class then, he wanted us to do some research paper or w/e with 7-9 sources for 5-7 pages. the ratios arent in proportion with each other -.-' i know it's not bad, but i was taking it as an elective easy class, i'm not into doing work. but yeah, he had a lot of crazy rules for the class. then he spends the whole hour explaining about how christopher columbus was worser than hitler, and all the evil guys combined. then i got this guy sitting behind me, who thinks he's a total genuis, and is always commenting on w/e the teacher was saying about history and whatever. a suck up basically. so what i did, was i found another history class, cause obviously i'm dropping this. this time, this other teacher spends the whole hour teaching us english stuff with word association and things like that. i was like... thx but no thx, i signed up for a history class, not an english lecture. so instead, i replaced the history class with another science class. i didnt need the history class, i already took one, this was just an elective. but man... i wonder how my political science class will be like tonight, since it's the first day. |

Originally posted by kyle s kenedy Yeah, my high school here in California only offered Spanish and French. I took Spanish. I really should have taken French, though Spanish is beneficial. It's just the French students became somewhat more fluent and such because the Spanish teachers were going at a much slower pace. |

As of right now:
Mondays/Wednesdays: 9:30-11:00AM History 11 (American History, Reconstruction-Present) 12:30-2:00PM History 2C (The Modern World) I might be adding Geology 17 to my schedule as well if I can, it's just three field trips that the Geology 1 students have to go on (only they need to go on just one). I need the units to get my AS in Biology. |

My classes next semester:
GT Social Studies (A class beyond the limits of Honors!!! OH NOES) French I Interactive Math Honors III (year long math... >.<) Seminar (WHAT A WASTE OF A PERIOD) Next year, I REALLY want to take creative writing, but it's an 11th-12th grade class. I'll see if I can get snuck in there. I mean, For JUNIORS I scored in the 93rd percentile on the PSATs, and I'm only a freshman. Also, I want to take psychology, forensic science, and maybe a continuation of French. |

My classes this year: (I'm a freshman at Western Highschool)
Japanese I (Two more years to go) Health Ed. (it's required for me to move on to tenth grade) Algebra (yeah I suck at Math) Biology HP (highest level of science I can ake as a freshman) English HP (highest level of English I can take as a freshman) It's not really a class, but I get my PE credits from being on the Varsit Basketball team. I have practice 5:30-7:30 M-F and 8am-10am on Saturday. Next year I'll be taking a Legal and Law enforcement class, which will classify as ROP. In the coming years I'll be taking psychology also. This sets me up nicely forwhat I want to major in. (Double major, Correctional Criminal Justice, and Psychology and Counseling) |
