Katana, you sound just like my mother, and I'm an only...

But on topic, I've actually talked to my boyfriend and we would like achild or two, but we want to wait until we're legally married and able to support them. But he's been really positive about it, and I don't know about you guys but I think the best scent in the world has to be a baby...The best feeling, being loved by a child just because you are a part of their life, you never have to give them a reason, they just automatically love you, and I think that's beautiful.

It's not selfish at all. I think that is one of the main reasons people have children.

I am overjoyed to be expecting a child with my fiance.... a creation of him and I... our own baby boy. It's just an amazing concept...

I used to be very anti-children.. especially of my own.

but my girlfriend and I have been talking a lot about this lately.. and I'd really like to have a child of my own.. to hold them in my arms and just know that this child is more than just another person in the world.. but this child is me.. It almost brings a tear to my eyes just thinking about it.

I suppose it is a bit selfish but yeah.

I have 5 daughters and 3 sons. I'm not even going to bother asking if the niece and nephew thing count. I love them with all my heart and we have all been very much part of one another's lives since we were born. I'm not their babysitter, and I never was. My sisters don't refer to it as babysitting either (when we're really thinking about what we're saying that is). Being that we all live in areas where everyone knows each other's family to their mother's cousin twice removed, no one asks questions when I show up at the parent/teacher meetings, or when I'm the one showing up to pick them up if they're being sent home sick, or even if one of them got suspended for something. (My niece Nicole is JUST like me sometimes it's scary....only she doesn't know how to keep her ass outta trouble with the teachers when it comes to fighting ) Hell, just like any other parent would, I've spent nights upon nights with them while they're teething and up crying at night, or when they're sick and have an ear infection and the pain is keeping them awake...getting hardly any sleep, only to have to get up and move on with my other responsibilities(such as school, and just generally keeping the house in order). I've dealt with the spit up, bumps and scrapes, hanging pictures on my refridgerator...reading to them(and I even sing for them...only them. :p) before they go to bed at night, only to have them get all excited to read something to me once they knew how...

I'm also extremely close to my little sisters. I treat the babies the same way I do my nieces and nephews (when I get to see them that is) and I try my best to look after my other two little sisters. I never realized what kind of an impact I had on them...'til my sister's mom showed me the speech one of my sisters wrote for her 8th grade graduation this year...she had to write the dedication to the parents and stuff, and she cited some personal experiences in the speech and I was in a large chunk of it.

I cry when they worry me, laugh when they're funny, chase the monsters from their closet, they're not afraid to tell me they love me in front of their friends, I get defensive of them and God help the one who ever hurts them(That statement has been proven to be more than an idle threat on more than one occasion)...so yeah...

Sorry for the long postage, but this is a subject that means a great deal to me. I haven't even begun how to express how I feel about them...I don't think I could put it all to words anyway...Point is, I may not be their mother, but I love them so much and I'm very proud of them.

Oh, and I do want children of my own someday btw... Lots of them. *cough**

*nods* being able to support a child is a big thing. It's going to be a little tight with Ryan and I and the baby coming, but I know we have plenty of extra money to be able to support him.

And Crystle, no, sorry... I'm just so used to spelling your name I mispelled hers. It's Crystal. Heh. You are still unique.

I dont have any kids, maybe I will want 2 kids when I am older. depends if I can take care of the child or if I am able to, I want to be a worthy mother when I have a child.

hmmmm I took care of myself alot so I'm not sure I guess I took care of a kid lol

Wait... is that how she actually spells her name? Crystle? *is in shock*

OMG... if it is... then I'm not the only one!!!!

Anywho, back on topic. While I do not have kids now I do want them some day. My loving boyfriend, who is the one that I want to spend my life with (as scary as that thought is to many people), is halfway in agreement. He kinda does, but not until we're like 30 or something and will have no trouble supporting them. I'd like a boy and a girl... he actually said he doesn't want a boy since he knows how they are, meh.

Now I just need to try and talk him out of moving to Costa Rica to raise our family.

*Nods* That's a good way to look at it. I too hope to adopt, if I can support three kids and my husband and I. Heh. I would like to have my own children though. And with one on hte way, who knows, maybe I'll adopt the second one. *shrugs*

My niece is adopted. It's my half-sister's(Maranda) half-sister's(Crystle) daughter. Crystle didn't want Chance (my niece) any more, so Maranda took her. She's very much a natural part of her whole family.

I can inderstand the joy of having a biological child of my own, knowing that it would be part of me and my husband, the thought that I can create such a beautiful life form. Sometimes it saddens me that I'm not able to do that.

But..

I don't think I could live with myself if I brought another child in this world while there are millions of other beautiful children who need loving families.

Maybe when I can legally get married I'll have kids. I mean I want to get a job and get married first. I don't want to be raising a kid and trying to go to colledge. I wouldn't mind having them though.

Yeah. I'm having a boy, and I would want a girl next. The dresses I see for little girls are so cute.

But I'm really active, I love paintball, 4-wheeling, whatnot... So I am really happy my first one is a boy. If I have two, I won't mind. They're fun. My nephew's 10, and he's a blast.

I want a kid. Maybe one or two, but no more. One boy, one girl. Balance! Either that or nothing. I dunno what I'd name them, but I'm sure I want to procreate someday. Just to see if its possible for my sweet ass genes to be passed onto another generation.

The question has been brought up to me before by my mom, but all I can really give is a "I don't know" answer because well I'm simply too young to be having kids in the first place and also because I just don't know.

That's sad. I mean, you siad you don't really want kids, but... I said the same thing. Now I've found the man I want to spend the rest of my life with, and we have a child on the way... and now here I am thinking about wanting another one already. Starting our family...

I've made up my mind that we're having two at the most. If we want more, we will adopt. There are so many children that need loving homes. Well, I know you will make the best of what you have, and you will be a great mother, regardless of if that child is yours biologically or not.

I raised my brother for the first 6 years of his life just about..Does that count?

I really don't want kids of my own. I can't have them either... ( long story )

If the man I marry wants kids though, i have high hopes for adoption.

EDIT: When I said kids of my own I meant biologically mine. I plan adopting whether or not I get married.

How many of you on this board are proud parents? (Or have kids? ) How many?

Of none, do you want kids?

I have a baby boy on the way, for those of you that haven't seen my thread in Sunset.
