This thread makes me feel so original...not. I should maim thou withist a thunderbolt from my homes Zues because of those bad examples, but he's on vacation, so you get off this time. I am a Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Franz Ferdinand, Green Day, Queen, NoFX, Pink Floyd, and AC/DC fan. I'm very picky. They are all to a degree rock, and I despisest thou cool-jump...no...spiffy-leap? no...hip-hop! Ah! Also, whenever I listen to pop, William Hung's image is burned deeply into my retinas. So, I stay away from it. Q! P.S. I prefer olden-day Green Day to the American Idiot Green Day. I spit on thee posers with the Geek Stink Breath who think they're Green Day fans and no no other albums beside American Idiot. I totally IRON FANG CLAW!!! them. |

If I had to pick between all the genres up there I would go with anime music because theres so many generes in anime music. Every anime has their style for instance twelve kingdoms is more clectic and orchestrated, bleach is insane sounds going all around kind of reminds me of the music from trigun a little bit, naruto they have the kickass taikho drums (sp?). Plus you also got awesome j-rock bands like Asian Kung Fu Generation. |

You know there's not Rock Opera or Show Tunes.
Rogue don't feel that you're in a minority. XD We're all part of one one way or another. I feel like I'm in a minority of freaking retards now. |

Well there's a low respresentation for my kind of music: drunken Celt rock, ska, folk, industrial, indie, traditional, glam punk, showtunes, rockabilly, lounge, and parody.
I have a rather unusual taste in music and tend to be very picky with fake fans or otherwise people who claim to be into one more hardcore genre than they really are. Can't wait for my friend's gig tomorrow night. |

I'm gay. Techno music fuels my little gay soul...for some odd reason. It makes me want to get up and dance even if all my dancing is while being stuck on the freeway with other disgruntled drivers. It has the right balance of dancy beats with the deep bass that moves the wall or windows when I'm in the car.
I've always just enjoyed Techno/Electronica/House music. Since I am listening to the Club Mix 2003 CDs while typing this out with the walls vibrating to the beat in front of me, I'd say it's definately Techno. Great workout mucis too. |

Which I am proud of my choice in music! XD |

Originally posted by Pat MethFirst, you contradicted yourself. Secondly, you're stating that's ok to disrespect people just because they can do something better than you that you don't particularly like. Your point is asinine; it has no logic at all. You're saying that no one respects anyone. If no one respects anyone, then no on ewould have friends. Apparently, you must not have any friends if that's how you feel; what a very sad life. I will show you an excerpt from my bio that will make your lack-of-respect point null and void, and if I suck for posting it, then so be it. "given our biological inheritance i think that we need to be more tolerant of ourselves and more tolerant and compassionate in our dealings with others. the standards that we have for human behaviour are at times noble, but at times quite absurd. we're genetically designed to be lustful, aggressive, gregarious, productive creatures, and it can be a good thing to hold ourselves to high community standards of behaviour, but we need to deal with ourselves as who and what we are, not just what we think we're supposed to be. the last thing in the world that we need to do is judge and condemn each other. i can understand locking someone up if they're violent, but i can't understand judging that person without compassion and tolerance. if you have a five year old child that likes to kick cats you don't abuse him and lock him in the basement and tell him what a horrible person he is. obviously you talk to the child and try to get him to figure out why kicking cats is not such a great thing to do. and you recognise that he's kicking cats not because he hates cats, but because he's expressing something that he feels and can't otherwise express. abuse begets abuse, compassion begets compassion. i'm not advocating a soft approach to criminal, violent, or anti-social behaviour, rather i'm advocating an enlightened and realistic approach to our human-ness. locking a criminal up in a horrible place and making them feel like shit is neither a compassionate nor a culturally expedient way to deal with the situation. it's also not taking into account the fact that we're all essentially guilty of the same things. if i had been brought up in a different environment that was abusive and only reinforced violence and aggression i'm sure that i would have turned out differently. so how can i condemn someone and judge someone who was raised differently from me? i can, with justification, prevent someone from hurting someone else, but i can't comprehensively condemn them for it. we're all saddled with a violent biological and cultural legacy, it's just that some of us have the skills and upbringing to deal with it..." Right now, you kinda remind me of the Christian Right, with your right-winged way of thinking, and believing that others should be shown disrespect at the slightest indescretion to your ill will. I leave you with that. |

I'm not saying that it's alright tyo flat out insult people, because it's not, but the notion that you can't critisize something because you can't do better it preposterous. Your art example sucks too, because obviously if someone had no concept of art their opinion would be outt he window anyway. Not to mention that "respecting people as they respect you" is a complete crock because nobody respects anybody else these days and if someone says they do they're full of shit or stupid. So this person can draw really well? So they can play a mean trumpet? Who gives a shit? THat's a terrible reason to respect someone in general. |

So you would say, "Even though I can't (for example) draw for shit and have no concept of art, that drawing sucks, even though I can't do better myself". I can see absolutely no logic in that, besides the fact that it's a blatent contradiction. I'm not saying everyone has to be fair; I'm just saying to learn to respect people as they respect you. No one is forcing you to give your opinion. If you don't have something positive, or at least constructive to say, don't say it. It makes you look like a real jerk and puts that person down. |

Originally posted by Clockworkz Bullshit. That's terrible advice. If I hear someone playing an instrument, or read something, or see someone playing a sport, and they are bad at playing or writing, then it's perfectly acceptable to say they suck, because they do, and just because I don't play the violin doesn't mean that if I hear someone sawing away and it sounds godawful that I'm not allowed to think they suck. This is the real world, not Mr. Roger's neighborhood where everyone has to be fair and equivocate nonstop. The practical solution is just to point out they suck and go on with it. |

You really forgot some of the stuff there XD but that's okay. lol I have to love Techno the most, it makes me feel great! I love 80s especiallly 80s. *pats Clockworkz* Music's controversial. You shouldn't say stuff sucks if you can't do stuff better. AND Moby's one person. I like Moby he's pretty cool. |

Bit of advice; never say anyone sucks at something unless you're better at doing it yourself. Example: I can't stand Eminem; I don't think he sucks, however, because he's sold over 30 million albums, and I can't rap like that. He's got talent, I'll give him that, but I just can't appreciate music the degrades women and talks about drugs and sex constantly. I prefer the more quiet, mellow, ambient music that can melt your troubles away. It's needed in this hustle-bustle world we live in. The stressful music, like System of a Down and Atreyu, as talented as they are (and yes, sometimes I do listen to them), just makes me too tense, and that's the last thing I need. Who can say an artist isn't talented when he/she's sold more than 40 million albums in he US alone? So please try to respect other people's music as I respect yours, ok? |
